1 39-member JPC formed on ‘One Nation-One Election’, Bhartruhari Mahtab is the chairman of the committee
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to consider the Constitution Amendment Bill related to ‘ One Nation-One Election ‘ will have 39 members. Bharatiya Janata Party ‘s Lok Sabha MP Bhartruhari Mahtab has been made the chairman of the committee. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the formation of the JPC on Thursday night. It includes 27 members of the Lok Sabha and 12 members of the Rajya Sabha . The purpose of this bill is to decide whether the elections of the Lok Sabha and all the state assemblies can be held simultaneously in the country or not. It is noteworthy that after getting approval from the Union Cabinet, the 129th Constitution (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tabled this bill, which was strongly opposed by the opposition. After this, the Modi government sent this bill to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). The JPC was formed on the recommendation of the government.
2 Famous writer of Nagaland, Easterine Kire has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2024
Estrine Kire, a renowned writer from Nagaland has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2024. The Akademi announced the annual Sahitya Akademi Awards in 21 languages . Estrine Kire’s novel Spirit Nights won the award in the English language category . It is published by Simon & Schuster India. The novel is inspired by a tale of darkness narrated by the Chang Naga tribe of Nagaland. From the Northeast, Sameer Tanti’s poem Faringbor Bator Katha Jane in Assam language and Haobam Satyabati Devi’s poem Mainu Bora Nungshi Shirol in Manipur language also won the award in the poetry category. Aron Raja’s Swarne Thakhay won the award in the novel category in Bodo language. The award ceremony will be held on 8 March 2025 in New Delhi.
3 UCC will be implemented in Uttarakhand from January 1
‘ Uniform Civil Code (UCC) ‘ will be implemented in Uttarakhand from next year i.e. January 1, 2025. In this way, Uttarakhand will become the first state to implement ‘ Uniform Civil Code ‘ after independence . Under the Uniform Civil Code, equal laws of marriage, divorce, alimony, land, property and inheritance will be applicable for all citizens in the state, irrespective of their religion. A portal and mobile app have also been prepared for this, which has facilities for online registration etc. After the formation of the Dhami government in the state in the year 2022, it was decided to form an expert committee to implement the UCC. This five-member expert committee was headed by retired judge Ranjana Prakash Desai. At the same time, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has been in force in Goa since the days of Portuguese rule .
4 Salman Khan became the brand ambassador of the first Kho-Kho World Cup

6 Chinese astronauts did a 9 hour spacewalk
Chinese astronauts have set a new world record for the longest spacewalk of 9 hours . The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA ) said on December 18 that astronauts ‘ Qi Zhe ‘ and ‘ Song Lingdong ‘ of the Shenzhou-19 mission crew did a lot of improvement work by doing a spacewalk at the Tiangong Space Station . These astronauts surpassed the spacewalk record set by American astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms on March 11, 2001. According to the US space agency, NASA, the previous record of 8 hours and 56 minutes of spacewalk was set by American astronauts James Voss and Susan Helms on March 12, 2001. Song, a fighter pilot in the Chinese Air Force, has become the first Chinese astronaut born in the 1990s to do a spacewalk. This was the second spacewalk of mission commander Qi Zhe. Earlier, he has done a spacewalk of 5.5 hours in November 2022.
7 Kolkata Airport completes 100 years, Civil Aviation Minister will participate in the centenary celebrations on December 21
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBI Airport) in Kolkata, which has many histories, has completed 100 years of its establishment . This airport has not only witnessed India’s aviation journey but is also considered a symbol of progress, connectivity and perseverance. Established in 1924 as Dum Dum Airport, this airport made a historic contribution to the Indian aviation sector by hosting the Bengal Flying Club in 1929. In 1964, it became a major hub for jet service and the first dedicated airline cargo terminal was opened in 1975. In 1995, it was renamed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and in 2013, the new integrated terminal was inaugurated here, which is a unique blend of heritage and innovation. The centenary celebrations of this airport will be organized on 21 December 2024. On this occasion, a budget-friendly cafe called “Udaan Yatri Cafe” will also be inaugurated.
8 Good Governance Week : 19 to 24 December
‘ Good Governance Week ‘ is being celebrated by the Central Government from 19 to 24 December 2024. For this, ‘ Administration to Village ‘ campaign has been launched. It is a nationwide campaign to redress public grievances and improve service delivery. On December 23, workshops based on the best practices of good governance will be organized in all the districts. During Good Governance Week, a virtual program will be organized in 700+ districts, in which Chief Secretaries, Secretaries and DMs of all the states will also participate.
