1 A group of Chinese dancers performed a dance drama titled ‘Adi Kavya – Pratham Kavya’ at the Indian Embassy in China.

 A group of Chinese dancers performed a dance drama titled  ” Adi Kavya – The First Poem ”  at  the Indian Embassy in China . The performance is based on the translation of the Ramayana   by  renowned Chinese scholar Ji Xianlin . Directed by Chinese Bharatanatyam artist Jin Shanshan, the performance featured over 50 local artists. The program was attended by a majority of members of the Chinese diplomatic community.  Indian Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat  was also present. Pradeep Kumar Rawat  is retiring at the end of this month  and  will be succeeded by Vikram Doraiswami, the current Indian Ambassador to the UK . This is the third time the dance drama has been performed in Beijing. The first time was in January last year. Last year, the Embassy also organized a symposium on “Sangamam – A Confluence of Indian Philosophical Traditions.”

2 Government allows distribution of high quality kerosene in 21 states and union territories

The government has issued a gazette notification allowing the distribution of high-quality kerosene oil  under  the public distribution system   in   21 states and union territories . This decision was taken in light of the geopolitical situation affecting energy supplies worldwide. It aims to meet cooking and lighting needs in areas where kerosene use has been discontinued under normal circumstances. According to this notification, a maximum of two fuel stations owned by public sector oil companies per district can store up to 5,000 liters of kerosene. This notification comes into effect immediately and will remain valid for 60 days or until further orders.

3 The four astronauts selected for NASA’s Artemis-2 mission arrived in Florida.

The four astronauts  selected for  NASA’s Artemis-2 mission  have arrived in Florida. With this, preparations for  the first manned journey to the Moon in more than five decades  have entered the final stages. According to sources,  NASA astronauts Reid WisemanVictor Glover, and Christina Koch  , and  Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen,  arrived at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center  from Houston, Texas, on  a Northrop T-38 jet . From here, they  are expected to blast off to space   on April 1  aboard NASA’s Space Launch System ( SLS) rocket . They will board the Orion crew capsule  , designed to carry humans into space.  During  this approximately 10-day mission,  the crew will orbit the Moon at high speed and return to Earth.

4 OpenAI expands in Asia: Kiran Mani appointed APAC head to drive growth in India

 

OpenAI  has  appointed Kiran  Mani   , former CEO  of Geostar , as Managing Director of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region  . His appointment was announced on March 25, 2026. He will lead OpenAI’s expansion across Asia from his office in Singapore and report to Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer. This appointment reflects the company’s increasing focus on high-potential markets like India.

5 KV Ramana Murthy appointed as Whole-time Member of SEBI

 To strengthen  India’s financial regulatory framework, the government has appointed Kompella Venkata Ramana Murthy  as  a full-time member of SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India)  . The announcement was made on March 25, 2026, and Murthy will serve a three-year term. With Murthy’s appointment, SEBI now has four full-time members, along with other key officials, enabling it to operate at its full capacity. Together, these members form the backbone of SEBI’s operational and regulatory decisions. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) was established in 1988 and became a statutory body in 1992.

6 Big change at the BBC: Matt Brittin becomes the new Director-General

Britain’s public broadcaster, the BBC,  has appointed  Matt Brittin  as its new  director-general . His appointment will be effective May 18, 2026. The 57-year-old technology veteran will take over at a time when the BBC faces significant challenges, including a high-profile lawsuit involving former US President Donald Trump and an ongoing debate over its funding model.

7. Establishment of ‘Krishnamurthy Tandon School of AI’ at IIM Ahmedabad: Grant of ₹100 crore

 In a major boost to  India’s education and technology sector, the Indian Institute  of Management Ahmedabad has established  the ‘ Krishnamurthy Tandon School of Artificial Intelligence ‘ on its campus. The initiative, announced on March 27, 2026  , was funded  by a generous grant of ₹100 crore  from  Chandrika Krishnamurthy Tandon  and  Ranjan Tandon.  . The new school aims to bridge the gap between the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its practical applications.

8 Hockey players Hardik and Navneet became Player of the Year

 The 8th Hockey India Annual Awards ceremony  was  held in New Delhi   on March 27. Hardik Singh  was   awarded  the Hockey Player of the Year Award 2025 in the men’s category  and  Navneet Kaur  in  the  women’s category  . 69-year-old Zafar Iqbal  was  given the Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award  . Zafar was  part of the Indian team that won gold at the 1980 Moscow Olympics  . Player of the Year Hardik is a midfielder and vice-captain of the men’s team. The Hockey Player of the Year award winners will receive a prize money of Rs 20 lakh each. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse were present at the ceremony.

9 Former Indian spinner R Ashwin to play in US T20

 

 On  March 28th , former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin  signed  with  the San Francisco Unicorns  for   the Major League Cricket (MLC) season . Ashwin will now play in the American T20 league  . He will be  the first Indian player to play in an American T20 tournament . Ashwin retired from international cricket  in December 2024.  He played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK)   in the 2025 IPL (Indian Premier League).  Now, after his retirement, Ashwin will play in global leagues, a foreign T20 league outside the IPL, for the first time. Ashwin had previously  signed with the Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) , but was unable to play that season due to knee surgery. Major League Cricket (MLC) is held in the United States of America (USA). The MLC league was launched on the lines of the IPL to increase the popularity of cricket in America.

10 Kal Somani acquires Rajasthan Royals for $1.63 billion

Kal Somani  has  acquired the  Rajasthan Royals IPL franchise  for  $1.63 billion (₹16,290 crore)  . The deal is one of the largest in IPL history. Somani, who is already a shareholder in the franchise, will take full control of the franchise after the 2026 IPL season. He will replace current owner Manoj Bajpayee  . This acquisition of the franchise reflects the brand value and commercial value of the Indian Premier League.

11 IPL: Virat Kohli becomes the first batsman to score 4,000 runs while chasing a target.

Veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli   has become  the first batsman to score 4,000 runs while chasing a target in  the Indian Premier League  . He achieved this feat yesterday in the first match of IPL 2026 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Virat Kohli has also become the sixth-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket,   surpassing  former Pakistani batsman Shoaib Malik .
