1.Henley Passport Index-2021

India has been ranked 90th in the ‘ Henley Passport Index-2021 ‘ showing the world’s most powerful passport . The ‘Henley Passport Index’ is the basic ranking of all passports in the world, showing the number of countries a passport holder from a particular country can travel to without a prior visa. The index was originally established by Dr. Christian H. Keelin (President of Henley & Partners) and its ranking is based on exclusive data from the ‘ International Air Transport Association ‘ ( IATA ), the world’s largest source of international travel information. And provides the most accurate database. It was launched in the year 2006 and includes passports of 199 countries. in this year’s rankingJapan and Singapore have topped and passport holders from these countries are allowed visa-free travel to 192 countries, followed by South Korea and Germany. This is the third time in a row that Japan has topped the list. In this ranking, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Yemen are the countries with the least powerful passports. India has moved up to the 90th position in this ranking and passport holders from India are allowed to travel visa-free to a total of 58 countries. It is to be known that India is sharing the rank with Tajikistan and Burkina Faso. India was ranked 85th in the index for January 2021, 84th in 2020 and 82nd in 2019.

2.Palghar’s famous Vada Kolam rice gets GI tag

A variety of rice widely grown in Wada in Palghar district has been given a ‘ Geographical Indication ‘ tag, which will give it a unique identity as well as a wider market. Vada kolam , also known as Zini or Jhini rice , is a traditional variety grown in the Wada tehsil of Palghar, whose grain is white in colour. The price of Vada Kolam rice is Rs 60-70 per kg in the domestic market and has a good demand abroad as well. Vada Kolam has been grown in Palghar for years. It is known for its small grain, aroma, taste and mild to digestibility. It is gluten-free. However, it is a low yielding crop.

3.Nobel Prize in Literature 2021 announced

The Nobel Prize for Literature in 2021 was awarded to Abdulrazak Gurnah , born in Zanzibar and active in England , for his steadfast and compassionate penetration into the effects of colonialism and the refugee’s fate in the gulf between cultures and continents.to be provided. The Nobel Prize in Literature is awarded by the Swedish Academy, Stockholm, Sweden. The Tanzanian novelist was born in Zanzibar in 1948 and has lived in the UK and Nigeria since then. He writes in English, and his most famous novel is Paradise, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1994. Gurnaah currently resides in the UK and teaches English Literature at the University of Kent. Until recently, he was Professor of English and Postcolonial Literature at the University of Kent, Canterbury and has published ten novels and several short stories.

4.Ministry of Tourism approves 5 projects worth Rs 325.53 crore for Buddhist Circuit Development

Recently , under the Swadesh Darshan scheme , the Ministry of Tourism has launched 5 projects costing Rs 325.53 crore for Buddhist circuit development .has been approved. It has also organized a Buddhist Circuit Train FAM Tour as part of the Central Government’s Dekho Apna Desh initiative. The tour includes destinations like Gaya-Bodh Gaya, Rajgir-Nalanda in Bihar and Sarnath-Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. Swadesh Darshan is a central sector scheme which was launched in the year 2014-15 for integrated development of theme based tourism circuits in the country. This scheme is envisaged to harmonize with other schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Skill India, Make in India etc. Under this scheme, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to the State Governments/ UT Administrations for the infrastructure development of the circuit. One of the objectives of the scheme is to develop themed tourist circuits on the principles of high tourist value, competitiveness and sustainability in an integrated manner.

5.Combined areas of Guru Ghasidas National Park and Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary to be designated as Tiger Reserves

Recently the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has declared the combined areas of Guru Ghasidas National Park and Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary as Tiger Reserves.designated as. NTCA is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, established in 2005 to strengthen tiger conservation. It is located in the northern part of Chhattisgarh bordering Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. It was approved under Section 38V(1) of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. This will be the fourth tiger reserve in Chhattisgarh after Udanti-Sitanadi, Achanakmar and Indravati reserves. Guru Ghasidas National Park was the last known habitat of Asiatic cheetahs in the country. It connects Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh and provides a corridor for movement of tigers between Bandhavgarh (Madhya Pradesh) and Palamu Tiger Reserve (Jharkhand). Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh bordering Uttar Pradesh. It is named after the Tamor hill and the Pingla Nala.

6.Andhra government launched ‘Swachh’ program

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will soon launch ‘ Swachha ‘ to focus on the health and hygiene of women and adolescent girls in the state.’ Will start the program. Under this initiative, free sanitary napkins will be provided by the state government in educational institutions. Ten sanitary napkins will be provided every month to about 10 lakh adolescent girls studying in class 7th-12th in all government schools and intermediate colleges across the state. In addition, quality napkins will be made available to women in urban and rural areas at affordable prices at all YSR Cheyutha stores. Apart from this, the state government will also organize special awareness classes on the importance of menstruation and health and hygiene in partnership with organizations such as UNICEF, WASH and P&G. It is to be noted that various studies and reports show that about 23 percent of girl students in India do not have access to sanitary napkins,

10.Finance Minister Sitharaman performs Bhoomi Pujan for 120 MW Lower Kopili Hydroelectric Project in Dima Hasao district of Assam

13.Road Transport Ministry launches scheme for ‘Good Samaritans’

On October 4, 2021, the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highways announced the “ Good Citizens ”started a plan for The scheme will be effective from October 15, 2021 and will run till March 31, 2026. Under the scheme, a cash prize of Rs 5,000 per accident will be provided to those who save the life of a road accident victim by taking the person to the hospital within the ‘golden hour’ of the accident. Cash prizes will be provided to motivate the general public to help road accident victims in case of emergency. Along with the cash prize, a certificate of appreciation will also be given. In addition to the award in each case, the ministry will also give 10 national level awards to the “Most Worthy Good Samaritans”. Most Worthy Good Samaritans will be selected from among those who have been honored throughout the year. Each will be given a prize of Rs 1,00,000. Street, The Ministry of Transport and Highways will provide an initial grant of Rs 5 lakh to the Transport Department of the States and Union Territories for giving the cash award. The Individual Good Samaritan will be awarded a maximum of five times in a year.

14.Proposed changes in Forest Conservation Act

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has amended the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980 to liberalize forest laws.has been proposed. The ministry has sent the proposed amendments to all the state governments, seeking their objections and suggestions within 15 days. After considering the suggestions of the states, the draft proposal will be prepared and placed before the Parliament. This amendment takes forward stringent norms for conservation of forest, by enhancing penal provisions for offences. The amendment also provides for the maintenance of “ancient forests”. Under no circumstances will non-forestry activity be permitted within the pristine forests. under the amendment; Deemed forests, which have been listed by the state governments till 1996, will continue to be treated as forest land. Land acquired by the Ministries of Railways and Roads before 1980, on which forests have been created, will not be treated as forest.

15.Anshu Malik won silver medal in World Wrestling Championship
