Asia’s first solar powered Textile Mill to come up in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district

1.India’s first high-speed double-decker train soon built at Daidgi Kapurthala, 120 seats in coach, speed-160 KM:- The Rail Coach Factory (RCF) of Kapurthala, which built the country’s first high-speed ‘Tejas’ train, has now also produced the country’s first high-speed double-decker coach. This high speed double decker train is ready to run on the track. Capable of running at a speed of 160 kmph, each coach of this train has 120 seats.

Special attention has been given to legroom and security, RCF Kapurthala prepared coach

The wide corridor adapted to coaches for comfortable travel, inner beauty, anti-smoking and fire systems, CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi and ample legroom make this train different from other trains. GPS-based passenger information system with mobile and laptop charging point with windows has also been provided in it. How far is the next station, where are you now and how long will it take to reach the destination, a screen has been set for information about train speed etc. RCF has named it as ‘Semi High Speed ​​Double Decker Coach’ which is specially designed for Busem route. The coach has 50 seats in the upper deck and 48 in the lower deck. There are 16 and six seats in the center. Adequate legroom of 3 x 2 format has been given, which can also be retracted up to 60 degrees.

2.National Epilepsy Day 2020:In India, November 17 is observed every year as National Epilepsy Day, to create awareness about epilepsy. The month of November is observed as ‘National Epilepsy Awareness Month’. This National Epilepsy Day is observed by the Epilepsy Foundation of India.

  • Epilepsy is a varied set of persistent neurological disarray and causes sudden seizures and fits.
  • The seizures of epilepsy result due to the unusual and extreme activities in the brain and the seizures also result from the hypersynchronous neuronal brain activity.
  • According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), more than 50 million people across the globe have epilepsy, which makes it one of the most common neurological diseases.
  • Almost 80% of people suffering from Epilepsy reside in low and middle-income countries. It is estimated that with proper diagnosis and treatment more than 70% of the people with Epilepsy can live without a seizure.
3.RBI creates Reserve Bank Innovation Hub to boost financial inclusion:- The Reserve Bank of India has created a Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH). The aim of Innovation Hub is to promote innovation across the financial sector by leveraging on technology and creating an environment which would facilitate and foster innovation. RBIH will collaborate with financial sector institutions, technology industry and academic institutions and coordinate efforts for exchange of ideas and development of prototypes related to financial innovations.

About Reserve Bank Innovation Hub Management:

Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) would be managed by a Governing Council (GC) consisting of 10 members (including a chairperson). Shri Senapathy (Kris) Gopalakrishnan, co-founder and former co-Chairman, Infosys, has been appointed as the first Chairperson of the RBIH.

4.Asia’s first solar powered Textile Mill to come up in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district:- The first solar powered Textile Mill in Asia will come up in Parbhani district, Maharashtra. The Jai Bhawani women’s cooperative textile mill will become the first Solar Powered textile mill in Asia. The Chairman of Jai Bhawani Women cooperative textile mill announced on November 17, 2020 that the mill will soon operate on solar power.

Significance

The mill is located in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district and many women in the district are expected to be given employment under the new  project.

Key Highlights 

  • The Jai Bhawani Women cooperative textile mill is spread across 30 acres of land. It will majorly process cotton to cloth.
  • The mill will undertake a lot of activities including ginning, pressing, weaving and spinning of cotton.
  • The Chairman of the textile mill, Dr. Sampriya Rahul Patil said that the finest quality cotton will be procured from Parbhani itself, as it is a leading cotton producing district in Maharashtra.
  • In fact, majority of the farmers in the state grow cotton, as producing cotton is seen as a profitable investment.
  • According to Dr. Patil, the cost of the project will be Rs 100 crore.
  • The operationalization of the mill is expected to give momentum to the industrial sector in the district.

5.PM Modi to hold virtual summit with Luxembourg PM on November 19, first stand-alone summit in 2 decades:- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a virtual summit with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg,  Xavier Bettel on November 19, 2020. This will be the first stand-alone summit between India and Luxembourg in the past two decades. The information was shared by the Union Ministry of External Affairs. The India-Luxembourg summit talks will cover the entire spectrum of bilateral relationship including strengthening of India-Luxembourg cooperation in the post-COVID world. The two leaders will also exchange views on international and global issues of mutual interest. The two Prime Ministers have met previously on three occasions but never in a stand-alone summit.

Significance 

Luxembourg is one of the most important financial centres globally and several Indian companies have raised capital by issuing Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs) at the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Besides this, several Luxembourg-based investment funds also hold substantial banking and asset management market share in portfolio investments in India.

6.Chapare Virus: Symptoms, how does it spread and other details; All you need to know about deadly virus:-The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States has confirmed that a deadly virus called Chapare can now be transmitted from human to human. Under its symptoms, the virus causes haemorrhagic fever like Ebola in the patient. The news has come at a time when the governments, healthcare workers, and scientists have already been battling with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Experts have suggested that in case of an outbreak, it is unlikely that Chapare Virus will be able to cause a pandemic on the scale of COVID-19, however, they have warned that there are reasons to be alarmed about the potential outbreak of Chapare virus.

What is the Chapare Virus?

The Chapare virus, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) causes a viral Chapare haemorrhagic fever (CHHF). This virus is in the arenavirus family which usually spreads between human to human through direct contact with infected rodents. It also transmits indirectly through the urine or faeces of infected rodents.

7.India to host U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022, FIFA cancels 2021 edition:- The U-17 Women’s World Cup 2021 which was scheduled to take place in India has been canceled by the Bureau of FIFA Council on November 17, 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, India has been handed over the hosting rights of its 2022 edition. FIFA- International Federation of Association Football has decided to cancel both Women’s U-20 World Cup and U-17 World Cup which were earlier scheduled to be held in Costa Rica and India respectively but the federation has decided that the hosting rights for the 2022 edition will be hosted over to both the countries. The President of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Praful Patel informed that the local organizing committee has been preparing themselves to start afresh for hosting the 2022 edition of the U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022.
