The day  marks  the discovery of the bacterium that causes TB   by Dr. Robert Koch in 1882. India has been celebrating this day along with the global community since 1982. However, with declining global TB funding and shifting priorities,  sustained commitment is vital to meet India’s 2025 target and the UN goal of eliminating TB by 2030  .
