In badminton , Ayush Shetty has created history by becoming the first Indian to win the World Badminton Federation (BWF World Tour) title this season by winning the US Open 2025. Ayush defeated Canada’s Brian Yang 21-18, 21-13 in the final. Playing with precision, Shetty dominated the match and kept the Canadian player on the backfoot from the start. Earlier in the semi-finals, he caused a big upset by defeating world number six Chou Tien Chen. With this title, Shetty has given the country its first men’s singles title on the BWF World Tour on foreign soil since the Canada Open 2023. However, Tanvi Sharma could not win the final match in the women’s singles of the competition . She lost 11-21, 21-16, 10-21 in a tough three-game match against top seed Beiwen Zhang.

4 Centre launches ‘Adi Karmayogi’ to train officials for better implementation of tribal schemes
Taking a major step towards strengthening tribal development , the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched the “ Aadi Karmayogi ” programme. It is a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the implementation of tribal welfare schemes by motivating and training field-level officials. The programme was announced at the concluding session of the “Aadi Anveshan” National Conference held at Vanijya Bhavan, New Delhi. During the “Aadi Anveshan” conference, it was found that the main reason for tribal backwardness is not the lack of schemes or funds, but the lack of motivation among the personnel implementing them. The “Aadi Karmayogi” programme has been launched with the aim of removing this deficiency and taking the schemes to the grassroots level.
5 Kerala tops national assessment of protected areas for 2020-2025
Kerala has been declared the best performing state in India in the Management Effectiveness Evaluation (MEE) 2020–2025 cycle of National Parks and Protected Areas (PAs) . The assessment was conducted by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change . Kerala scored 76.22% and is the only state to receive a “ Very Good ” rating. In the MEE report 2020–2025 released on 27 June 2025, Kerala was declared the best state in the country in the management of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. This achievement reflects Kerala’s consistency in biodiversity conservation, local participation and effective management.

India’s first and exclusive NBFC that will provide financial services for the maritime sector. It will provide funding to ports, maritime MSMEs, startups and entities. It will help in bridging the capital gap in maritime infrastructure.

9 NeGD launches AI in Governance training for government officials at IIT Delhi

11 ICC introduces stop clock rule in Test cricket
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a stop clock rule in Test cricket to deal with the problem of slow over rate . According to the playing conditions of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, if a full run is not taken intentionally, then the fielding team will decide which batsman will face the bowler . These new rules will come into effect from the 2025-2027 WTC cycle, which started with the first Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Galle. As per the playing conditions of the Test match available on the ICC website, the stop clock will be used to deal with the problem of slow over rate in the longer format as well as in limited overs cricket.
