1. District Disability Rehabilitation Centers (DDRCs) inaugurated by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment

The District Disability Rehabilitation Centers (DDRCs) spread across the country have been providing effective rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities for the past two decades. These centers are jointly run by the District Management Team headed by the DM/Collector and a reputed NGO (usually the Indian Red Cross Society). To enhance their services, a model DDRC has been conceptualized by the Department of Empowerment of Disability, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. In the first phase, nine such models DDRC, Badaun, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Balaghat, Golaghat, Ahmedabad, Amravati, Kullu and Rampur have been upgraded to model DDRC level. These 09 model DDRCs were inaugurated by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India through virtual medium here today.

2. UNEP launched the Green Fins Hub

3. Vinod Agarwal elected as new president of SIAM

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) , an association of vehicle manufacturers, has elected Vinod Agarwal as the new president for 2022-23 . Shailesh Chandra , Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles , has been elected as the Vice-Chairman. Agarwal, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles , will succeed Kenichi Ayukawa , Executive Vice President, Maruti Suzuki India .

4. KVIC commissions 72 units under PMEGP

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) took a special initiative on the 72nd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Industries (MSME) Narayan Rane launched 72 PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme) units to increase employment opportunities and encourage artisans . Along with this , margin money was also distributed to 720 beneficiaries of PMEGP. The Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) is a flagship scheme of the Union Ministry of MSME . It was implemented in 2008 by the erstwhile Rural Employment Generation Program (REGP) implemented by KVIC and District Industries Centres .The Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana (PMRY) was launched by merging it. The objective of this credit linked subsidy scheme is to promote jobs through setting up of micro enterprises and factories in rural and urban areas of India. Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is the nodal agency involved in the implementation of the scheme at the national level.

5. Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai and Vedanta Balco (BALCO) Medical Centre, Raipur signed an MoU

A flagship initiative of Tata Memorial Center (TMC), Mumbai and Vedanta Medical Research Foundation , BALCO (BALCO) Medical Center (BMC) , Raipur, Chhattisgarh has achieved excellence in cancer care in the country.A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed today to bring As per this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Balco Medical Center (BMC) and Tata Memorial Center (TMC) will collaborate to exchange knowledge, and enhance skills, capabilities and core practices. Balco Medical Center will now leverage Tata Memorial Center’s expertise and decades of experience in cancer treatment to develop best-in-class technical and medical guidelines. In addition to this support, TMC will also enlist BMC as a referral center for patients from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states.

6. Janata Dal United Units of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu join BJP

The units of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu of Janata Dal United have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party . These units joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of BJP President JP Nadda and party’s National General Secretary BL Santosh in New Delhi. These units have taken this decision in protest against the decision to form the government in Bihar by forming a grand alliance with Janata Dal United, Rashtriya Janata Dal and other parties.

7. One day of September 22 reserved for women MLAs in the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature

In Uttar Pradesh , the Monsoon session of the Legislature is starting in Lucknow . For the first time during this session, a day will be reserved for women MLAs in the Assembly on 22nd of this month . Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said that after the Question Hour on 22nd, women representatives will discuss issues related to women. He said that this is the first effort of its kind in the country. The decision to reserve a day for women members was taken after complaints that women legislators were not being given an opportunity to speak in the House.

8. India Discrimination Report 2022 released

Non-profit organization Oxfam India recently released India Discrimination Report 2022 . Women’s labor force participation rate (LFPR) in India is just 25% in 2021Is. Gender discrimination is the main reason behind the 98 percent employment gap between men and women in India. Lack of education and work experience is contributing to low wages for women. The average earning of a man is about 2.5 times that of a woman. The report concluded that, while discrimination in the Indian labor market has declined over the decade, high gender inequality remains. Women’s educational qualifications have little effect on their employment status. In 2019-20, 60 per cent of all men aged 15 years and above have regular salaried and self-employed jobs. During the same period, only 19 percent of women in that age group had jobs. The report also found that a large number of eligible women are unwilling to join the workforce because of “family responsibilities” and the need to conform to social norms.

11. Devendra Jhajharia wins silver medal in World Para Athletics Grand Prix competition in Morocco

Indian javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia won a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix event in Morocco . Paralympics gold medalist Devendra won the silver medal by throwing a javelin at a distance of 60.9-7 meters. He is a three-time Para Olympic medalist.

12. Bajrang Punia won bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade, Serbia

In wrestling , renowned wrestler and Olympic medalist Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal in the men’s 65 kg weight category at the World Wrestling Championships . He defeated Puerto Rico’s Sebastian C Rivera 11-9 in Belgrade, Serbia yesterday. This is Punia’s fourth medal in this championship, starting with a bronze medal in 2013.
