1 Bilateral exercise ‘Konkan-2025’ between the navies of India and Britain begins

The bilateral exercise Konkan-2025 between the Indian Navy and the British Royal Navy commenced off the west coast of India . The exercise reaffirms the two countries’ commitment to secure, open, and inclusive seas and exemplifies the strategic partnership enshrined in the India-UK Vision 2035. The exercise will be conducted in two phases from 5 to 12 October 2025. The port phase will include professional interactions between naval personnel, cross-deck visits, sports events, and cultural exchanges. In addition, joint working group meetings and discussions among subject matter experts are also scheduled. The sea phase will include complex maritime operational exercises focusing on air, surface, and anti-submarine warfare, flight operations, and other naval skills development.
2 PM Setu Scheme launched to modernise 1,000 ITIs across the country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Prime Minister’s Skill Enhancement and Technical Upgradation Scheme (PM SETU) on October 4, 2025, during the Skills Convocation held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi . With a budget of ₹60,000 crore , the scheme aims to transform 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country into modern, industry-oriented, and employment-oriented centers. This ambitious initiative is aligned with the vision of ” Developed India @ 2047 ,” which aims to create an innovation-driven and skilled workforce that can meet the changing needs of global industries. The first phase of the PM-SETU scheme proposes to upgrade the ITI in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, as a hub, and ITI Dholpur, ITI Karauli, ITI Kaman (Deeg), and ITI Bayana as spoke institutes. The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Sanvardhan and Technical Upgradation Yojana (PM SETU) aims to revitalize India’s vocational training ecosystem by transforming ITIs into modern, inspiring, and industry-linked institutions.
3 National conference on land and disaster management begins in Gandhinagar

Aiming to modernize land governance in the country, strengthen disaster management, and provide secure land rights to citizens, a two-day “National Conference on Land Administration and Disaster Management” began on October 3, 2025, at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar . The event was jointly organized by the Department of Land Resources (Ministry of Rural Development) and the Gujarat Revenue Department. Speaking at the inaugural session, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that land administration should be made citizen-centric through digitization and indigenous technology to ensure secure and transparent land rights at the grassroots level. The conference also aimed to create a platform for sharing best practices and innovations among states.
4 Australia approves Alzheimer’s drug lecanumab for early-stage use

In a significant milestone in dementia care, Australia ‘s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has approved Lecanemab for the treatment of early-stage Alzheimer’s disease . The decision, effective September 2025, comes amid rising Alzheimer’s cases in Australia – now the leading cause of death in the country. Lecanemab is only the second disease-modifying drug to receive regulatory approval in Australia. While it offers hope for patients, serious concerns have also been raised about cost, availability, and safety.
5 Harinder Baweja’s memoir ‘They Will Shoot You, Madam’ released

Senior journalist Harinder Baweja shares his experiences from over four decades of journalistic career in his rare and gripping autobiography, ‘ They Will Shoot You, Madam: My Life Through Conflict. ‘ The book was launched in Delhi on October 1, 2025. In it, he describes his courageous reporting from many conflict-ridden areas in India and the world. The title itself symbolises that Baweja’s life has been full of risk, fearlessness and the pursuit of truth – where courage often triumphed over fear.
6 Ramachandran Museum to open in Kerala on October 5

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate a museum in Kollam on October 5, 2025, honoring India’s renowned contemporary artist A. Ramachandran. This tribute, less than two years after his passing, is an important occasion to preserve his artistic traditions and contributions. The museum will be located at the Sree Narayana Guru Cultural Complex, Kollam, a center known for its art and cultural heritage. The choice of Kollam reflects Ramachandran’s deep connection to Kerala’s aesthetic traditions, although his professional life was primarily centered in Delhi and Rajasthan. Born in Attingal, Thiruvananthapuram in 1935, Ramachandran was known for his monumental canvases, colorful oil and watercolor paintings. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2005 for his outstanding service to the nation.
7 Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the country’s first cooperative multi-feed Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant at Kopargaon in Ahilyanagar district of Maharashtra.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated India ‘s first cooperative-based CNG and spray dryer potash granule project in Maharashtra . The project was launched at the Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Kolhe Cooperative Sugar Mill in Kopargaon , Ahilyanagar district . Shri Amit Shah stated that India’s first cooperative compressed biogas (CBG) plant was inaugurated today. An investment of approximately ₹55 crore has been made in this project. This CBG plant will produce 12 tons of CBG per day and 75 tons of potash from molasses. He stated that India currently imports both these products from abroad, and this new initiative will enable us to stop this import and move towards a self-reliant India. Shri Shah stated that such units will be installed at 15 cooperative sugar mills across the country, with Maharashtra expected to play a leading role. Shri Shah inaugurated the expanded capacity of Pravar Sugar Factory in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra and unveiled the statues of Padmashree Dr. Vithalrao Vikhe Patil and Padma Bhushan Balasaheb Vikhe Patil.

The Indian Navy will commission the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) warship INS Androth in Visakhapatnam . This is the second anti-submarine warfare (ASW) of the Indian Navy . Vice Admiral Rajesh Pandharkar will preside over the ceremony. The Ministry of Defence stated that INS Androth marks a milestone in the Indian Navy’s progress towards indigenisation, enhancing its capabilities. Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers has built Androth, which uses over 80 percent indigenous material.
9 Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav inaugurated Rajasthan’s first ‘Namo Biodiversity Park’ in Alwar

Rajasthan ‘s first ‘ Namo Biodiversity Park ‘ was inaugurated with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony at Pratap Dam, Alwar . The event was presided over by Shri Bhupendra Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change , and Shri Sanjay Sharma, Cabinet Minister, Government of Rajasthan, was also present. In addition to its ecological benefits, the park is designed to inspire citizens to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyles. 10 India won three medals on the final day of the World Para Athletics Championships-2025

Indian athletes added three more medals to their tally on the final day of the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi . Simran Sharma won the silver medal in the women’s 200m T-12 race and Preethi Pal won the silver medal in the 100m T-35 race. Sandeep also won the bronze medal in the 200m T-44 event. With this , India is in tenth place with a total of 22 medals , including 6 gold, 9 silver, and 7 bronze . Brazil finished first with 15 gold, 20 silver, and 9 bronze medals, for a total of 44 medals. China finished second with 13 gold, 22 silver, and 17 bronze. Iran finished third with 9 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze. During the intense competition held on the newly built Mondo track at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, 35 world records and 104 championship records were set.
11 World Animal Day 2025

World Animal Day 2025 , celebrated on October 4 , marks the 100th anniversary of a global movement that promotes animal rights, welfare, and compassion. This year’s theme is “ Save the Animals, Save the Planet! ”, highlighting the inseparable connection between animal protection and environmental sustainability. World Animal Day was first organized in 1925 by Heinrich Zimmermann , a German writer and animal rights activist. The inaugural event was held in Berlin on March 24, attracting over 5,000 participants. By 1929, the day was fixed at October 4 to coincide with the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
