Indian teacher Ranjitsinh Desale, who has been awarded the Global Teacher Award-2020 , has been appointed as an advisor to the World Bank . His term will be till 2024 . He gave several speeches on topics such as “the future of government” and “supporting teachers in the era of pandemic”. The World Bank has appointed 12 consultants from around the world.
2. Justice (Retd) Vikramjit Sen appointed as Chairman of IBF
The Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) announced the appointment of former Supreme Court judge Justice Vikramjit Sen as the chairman of its newly formed self-regulatory body Digital Media Content Regulatory Council (DMCRC) . The DMCRC has been constituted as per the mandate of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Code of Conduct) Rules, 2021. The move was done to bring together broadcasters and OTT (over-the-top) platforms.

Magma Fincorp (Magma Fincorp) has Poonawalla controlled by Rising Sun Holdings (Rising Sun Holdings) in a controlling stake as part of changes in management to achieve Adar Poonawalla has appointed its president (Adar Poonawalla). Rising Sun had invested Rs 3,456 crore in the non-bank lender earlier this month. Magma will soon be rebranded as Poonawalla Group Company. The lender has appointed Abhay Bhutada as MD and Vijay Deshwal as CEO.

Dr Patrick Amoth , Acting Director General of Kenya ‘s Ministry of Health, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) for a period of one year . The announcement was made by the outgoing Chairman Dr Harsh Vardhan during the 149th session of the WHO Executive Board on June 02, 2021 . Mr Amoth replaces the Union Minister of Health, Government of India, Dr Harsh Vardhan, who completed his term as the Chairman of the WHO Executive Board on June 02, 2021. Dr Vardhan will continue to be a member of the Executive Board of WHO till 2023. The post of the chairman is on a one-year rotation basis among the regional groups.
5. NASA will send its two spacecraft to Venus after 30 years
The US space agency NASA has announced that it will send two missions to the planet Venus between 2028 and 2030 . In the first decade, efforts will be made to better understand Venus, which is called Earth’s pair planet, and find out how two planets of the same nature became so different. The names of both these missions are DAVINCI+ and VERITAS.The name has been given. NASA announced its new plans for Venus, saying that these two missions – ‘DAVINCI+((Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry, and Imaging))’ and ‘VERITAS(Venus Emissivity, Radio Science, InSAR, Topography, and Spectroscopy) will be given separately for $ 500 million (Rs 36.46 billion). Through the DaVinci Plus mission, the planet’s atmosphere will be measured to find out how the planet Venus formed and evolved. It will also aim to determine whether Venus ever had an ocean. The DaVency Plus mission is expected to yield the first high resolution images containing the geological features of Venus. The second mission, Veritas to understand Venus’ geological history Will map the planet’s surface and investigate how it evolved so differently than Earth.

The validity of the certificate of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) will now be lifelong . That is, once this eligibility is achieved, the student will be eligible for the teacher’s job for life. Till now the validity of the eligibility certificate of TET was only for seven years. After that the student had to re-appear for eligibility. Also , instructions have been given to implement it from the year 2011 .

9. Account Book unveiled to create awareness among investors
To create awareness among investors , six modules of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority’s short film titled Raab Ki Kitab were unveiled. The accounting book was unveiled by Anurag Thakur, Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs said that ‘Account Kitab’ consists of six short films of five minutes each. It highlights the budget, savings, insurance schemes and various social security schemes of the government.

11. XraySetu launched to detect COVID in rural population through WhatsApp
A new AI-powered platform called ‘ XraySetu ‘ to help in early detection of COVID 19 with the help of chest X-rayhas been developed. This solution will be beneficial for early detection, especially in rural areas, where RT-PCR tests and CT-scans are not readily available. XraySetu will work through WhatsApp. It will also identify COVID positive patients from low-resolution chest X-ray images sent to the WhatsApp-based chatbot. The solution has been developed by ARTPARK (AI and Robotics Technology Park), a Bangalore-based healthtech startup Niramai and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) with support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). ), is a non-profit foundation set up by Bengaluru.

The Cabinet gave ex- post facto approval for the signing and ratification of an Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Mass Media among all the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) . The objective of the agreement is to promote equitable and mutually beneficial cooperation between federations in the field of mass media. The agreement, signed in June 2019, will provide member states with an opportunity to share best practices and new innovations in the field of mass media.
15. Agreement signed with vaccine manufacturer Moderna for supply of corona vaccine: UNICEF
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund – UNICEF has said that an agreement has been reached with the vaccine manufacturer Moderna for the supply of corona vaccine. The vaccine will be supplied for UNICEF’s COVID Vaccine Global Access Program – COVAX . UNICEF said that the vaccine is likely to be supplied in the last quarter of this year and will be distributed equally to different countries in line with the goal of the programme. UNICEF also informed that four other agreements have also been signed for the corona vaccine. These agreements have been signed with Serum Institute of India, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Human Vaccine.

21. Moody’s forecast: Indian economy to grow by 9.3% in FY22
According to Moody’s Investors Service , India’s economy will mark a growth of 9.3 per cent in the current fiscal , but the second wave of Covid-19 has raised risks to the country’s outlook with potential long-term debt implications. Moody’s Investors Service has estimated the GDP growth rate of the Indian economy as follows:
  • 2021-22 (FY22): 9.3%
  • 2022-23 (FY23): 7.9%
In terms of sovereign rating, Moody’s has projected a ‘ Baa3 ‘ rating with a negative outlook on India . It said the economy bounced back sharply from a sharp contraction in 2020. But risks to India’s credit profile, including a persistent slowdown in growth, weak government finances and rising financial sector risks, have been exacerbated by the shock of the second wave of the coronavirus.
22. SBI Economists revises GDP growth forecast for FY22 to 7.9%
SBI economists, in their research report ” Ecowrap “, have slashed the GDP growth projections for the Indian economy to 7.9 per cent in FY22 as against the earlier estimate of 10.4 per cent . This is the lowest growth forecast for India among all analysts. The major factor driving the revision in the growth forecast is the impact of the second wave of COVID-19 infections. SBI economists forecast a “W-shaped” recovery with two troughs instead of the “V-shaped” recovery previously anticipated in FY22.
23. OECD estimates: India’s growth rate at 9.9% in FY22

25. Center for World University Rankings 2021-22 announced

Facebook -owned messaging app WhatsApp has appointed Paresh B Lal as India’s Grievance Officer . WhatsApp has updated the details on its website on how to contact Mr Lal, as under the IT law, social media companies are required to display the names and other details of their grievance officers on their website. The appointment is in line with the government’s new IT order that requires all tech companies like Google, Facebook, WhatsApp to appoint a grievance officer, nodal officer and a chief compliance officer from India. The Grievance Officer will resolve the complaint within 24 hours and the complaint will be disposed of within 15 days.

The last surviving former member of the Constituent Assembly of India , T.M. Kalliannan Gounder passed away at the age of 101. He also served as a member of the Legislative Council in Tamil Nadu between 1952 and 1967 and as an MLA thrice . He was also reportedly the youngest member of the Constituent Assembly and a member of the first Provisional Parliament of India.
