1.’Sutra Santati’ exhibition organized to bring together diverse traditions of textiles in the country as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The Ministry of Culture and the National Museum in collaboration with the Abheraj Baldota Foundation has organized an exhibition ‘ Sutra Santati ‘ to commemorate 75 years of India’s birth as an independent nation by bringing together the diverse traditions of textiles in the country.‘ organised. The exhibition will continue till September 20, 2022 in New Delhi. Shri Govind Mohan, Secretary, Ministry of Culture inaugurated the exhibition. The literal meaning of ‘sutra santi’ is ‘continuity of yarn’. As the title of the exhibition, it is an allegory of the ongoing dialogues in Indian culture and society, which shape its development and connect the past with the future. More than 100 garments from 75 leading artisans, craftsmen, designers and artists are on display in this exhibition. This exhibition is curated by Lavina Baldota. In this, craftsmanship and ecological conservation are being shown as the main features. Textiles made with the processes of hand-weaving, embroidery, resist-dyeing, printing, painting and appliqué, as well as yarn and other forms of fabric, are also on view. The fibers used to make these include local varieties such as kandu and black cotton,

2.Rural Entrepreneur Project launched in Ranchi to promote skill development and entrepreneurship among tribal youth

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in partnership with Sewa Bharti and Yuva Vikas Society launched the second phase of Rural Entrepreneur Project to enhance skill training among tribal communities for their inclusive and sustainable development . Under this initiative, the endeavor is to multi-skill the youth of India and provide them with functional skills to enable them to earn their livelihood. Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Arjun Mundalaunched the programme. Rural Entrepreneur is a unique multi-skill project, funded by National Skill Development Corporation-NSDC, which aims to train 450 tribal students in Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. The project is being implemented in six states- Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Gujarat . The concept was implemented by the Union Minister of State Shri Rajiv Chandrashekhar and Tribal Parliamentarians. In the first phase of training, participants from rural and tribal areas of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have been covered. Since the participants came from rural areas, the participants were provided with transportation, food and accommodation facilities so that they would not miss out on learning opportunities due to lack of resources. Madhya PradeshTraining of 157 participants in seven groups started in the month of May, 2022 at Bhopal , and about 133 participants completed the training successfully on 27th June, 2022. The second phase of the pilot project started in Ranchi is being implemented by Yuva Vikas Society through Seva Bharti Kendra in Ranchi.

In Scotland , a law to make menstrual products available for free has come into force. The Scottish government has announced that it has become the first government in the world to legally protect the right to free access to menstrual products as soon as the ‘ Period Products Act ‘ comes into force. Under this new law, it has become mandatory for schools, colleges and universities and local government bodies to provide various menstrual products, including tampons and sanitary napkins, in their toilets.

16.NASA’s lunar rocket reaches launch pad for first flight test
