  • Cultural exchanges have been a part of Indo-Chinese civilization since ages. Buddhist monks and missionaries traveled to China through the Silk route.
  • Scholars such as Kumarajiva, Bodhidharma and Dharmakshema from India helped in spreading Buddhism in China.
  • On the other hand, Chinese pilgrims such as Fa Xian and Xuan Zang also traveled to India.

  • The Chinese traded silk for wool, gold and silver. Silk route also aided in spreading Buddhism in China, from India.
  • A portion of the road still exists, connecting Pakistan and China.

China and India Relations – Border/Boundaries :-

  • The McMahon line is the international boundary between India and China, according to the Simla convention of 1914. It is named after the then British foreign secretary, Sir Henry McMahon.
  • Nathu La Pass (Sikkim), Shipki La Pass (Himachal Pradesh) and Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) are the three trading points on the border of India and China.
