1 Congress wins clear majority in Karnataka assembly elections

Congress  has secured a clear majority   in  the Karnataka assembly elections .  According to the latest  Election Commission data, the Congress  has won  135 of the 224 assembly seats in the state. Bharatiya Janata Party  66  seats Have won Janata Dal-Secular is at number three with 19 seats. Four seats have gone to the accounts of others. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai defeated Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan of Congress by a margin of about 36,000 votes in Shiggaon seat. Former Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah won the Varuna seat by defeating V. Somanna by 46 thousand 163 votes. Former Chief Minister and Janata Dal-Secular’s HD Kumaraswamy has won the Chennapatna seat by a margin of 16,000 votes. Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who recently left the BJP and joined the Congress, was defeated by the BJP candidate by more than 34,000 votes in the Hubballi-Dharwad Central seat.

2 Indian-American Geeta Rao Gupta has been appointed as the US ambassador for women’s issues.

Indian-  American citizen  Geeta Rao Gupta  has been appointed by the US State Department as its envoy for  women  ‘s  issues  . The US Parliament has also approved it. The US State Department said in a tweet that Ms Geeta Rao Gupta will promote the rights of women and girls while keeping US foreign policy in mind.

3 Finance Ministers and Chiefs of Central Banks of 3 G-7 countries meet in Niigata, Japan

 The finance ministers and heads of  central banks  of  the G-7 countries  met in Niigata, Japan . The meeting was attended by heads of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and the Financial Stability Board. This meeting was held from 11 to 13 May. The meeting discussed a number of issues of global interest, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the debt problem in developing countries.

4 Union Ministry of Agriculture released data related to increase in sowing area of ​​summer crops

 The sowing area  of ​​pulses and coarse cereals  has  increased this year as compared to last year . The Union Agriculture Ministry  has released data related to the increase in the area sown to summer crops. The area under pulses has increased to 19 lakh 61 thousand hectare; While last year it was 18 lakh hectare. The area under millets has also increased from 11 lakh 30 thousand hectare to 11 lakh 73 thousand hectare. On the other hand, the area under paddy has decreased and it has decreased from 29 lakh 80 thousand hectare to 27 lakh 89 thousand hectare. The area sown in other summer crops has also marginally decreased to 69.20 lakh hectare as against 70 lakh hectare in the same period last year.

5 With the aim of increasing public awareness, a four-day Shree Anna Utsav begins in Dehradun, Uttarakhand from today.

 The four-day  ShreeAnn Mahotsav  is starting in  the capital  Dehradun in Uttarakhand . Its purpose is  to make people aware of the health benefits of millets  and to discuss the potential of production of millets in the state.  The participation of Agriculture Ministers, scientists and farmers of other states along with Union Agriculture Minister  Narendra Singh Tomar is also taking place in this festival. The festival has been organized for the purpose of attracting people towards the production of millets. There is a target to double the production of coarse cereals by the year 2025 in the state. Uttarakhand Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that the state government has made a provision of Rs 73 crore in the current financial year for the promotion of millets. 134 stalls are being set up in the festival.

6 pro. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar received the first Govind Swaroop Lifetime Achievement Award from the Astronomical Society of India in Pune.

Pro. Jayant Vishnu Narlikar  is the most fitting and deserving recipient of  the first  Govind Swarup Lifetime Achievement Award of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI)  , an outstanding astronomer, Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) , was also the founder director of Pune and former chairman of ASI. Although the award was announced earlier this year at the 41st meeting of the ASI held at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, Professor Narlikar was unable to travel to receive it. ASI President Prof. Dipankar Banerjee, Prof. Narlikar was present in Pune to personally hand over the award and felicitate him.

7 Expedited Corporate Exit Processing Center (C-PACE) set up for hassle free filing, timely and orderly winding up of companies from MCA Register

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has taken a major initiative towards centralizing the winding up process of companies with the setting up of Center for Faster Corporate Exit Processing (C-PACE). The setting up of C-PACE will help in reducing the unnecessary burden on the Registry besides making the Registry equitable, with availability of more meaningful data to the stakeholders. C-Pace will also benefit the stakeholders with hassle free filing, timely and process-bound removal of their company names from the Register. The setting up of C-PACE is part of a number of measures taken by the MCA in the recent past towards ease of doing business and ease of exit for companies.

8 Mpox no longer a global health emergency: WHO

The World Health Organization  (WHO) has announced that  Mpox , formerly   known as  monkeypox , is no longer a global health emergency. Is. The Emergency Committee for Mpox recommended that the outbreak no longer be a public health emergency of international concern. The committee’s recommendation was based on a reduction in reported cases and a strong response from countries affected by the virus. Mpox is a viral zoonotic disease with symptoms similar to smallpox, although with less clinical severity. The infection was first identified in 1958 after two outbreaks of a smallpox-like disease in groups of monkeys kept for research, giving it the name ‘monkeypox’.

9 Airbus C295 made for India takes first flight

The Airbus C295 aircraft made for India   has made its maiden flight. Airbus Defense  has shared its information by posting a post on social media. Airbus wrote in a tweet that the Airbus C295 made for India successfully made its maiden flight. With this, the way has been cleared for the delivery of these aircraft to India by the end of this year. The C295   is a military transport aircraft .  Currently, the Indian Armed Forces rely on older 1960s generation Avro aircraft for their transport needs  . Military transportation will become easier and better once the C295 is inducted into the Air Force. Under the deal between India and US defense company Airbus,  16 C295 aircraft will  be supplied between September 2023 and August 2025. C295 aircraft made its maiden flight  to Spain Filled in Seville. The company said that this would enable the supply of these aircraft to India in the second half of 2023.

10 India among 10 countries that account for 60% of global maternal deaths, stillbirths, neonatal deaths: UN study

A new report by the World Health Organization (WHO)the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)  and  the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) highlights the challenges faced in reducing maternal deaths, stillbirths and neonatal deaths   globally  . The report shows that,  in 2020-2021, there were a combined 4.5 million such deaths  , with  India leading the list of 10 countries  , accounting  for 60% of the total deaths. Are. The high number of live births in India is believed to be a factor in its high number of maternal, stillbirth and neonatal deaths, with the country accounting for 17% of global live births. Nigeria, Pakistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Bangladesh and China also figure in the list of countries with the highest rates of maternal, stillbirth and neonatal deaths.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that Jan Aushadhi Kendras provide affordable healthcare to the people and generate self-employment opportunities for the youth. Reddy said that medicines are available in Jan Aushadhi Kendras at 50 to 90 per cent less price than the general market. Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMJAK) is a scheme launched by the Government of India to provide affordable and quality generic medicines to the general public. Under this scheme, the government sets up Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which are stores that sell generic medicines at much lower prices than branded medicines.

14 Pakistan returns Haj seats to Saudi Arabia for the first time in 75 years

 For the first time in history,  Pakistan has returned the quota  for  Haj pilgrims  from  Saudi Arabia  . 16 Cashfree Payments partners with Yes Bank to provide global collections service to 16 exports

Cashfree Payments  and  YES Bank have  joined hands to launch ‘ Global Collections ‘, an international collection service for exporters who are account holders of YES BANK. The partnership enables the bank’s account holders to collect payments in over 30 foreign currencies using the Global Collections service. Also, the amount collected can be converted into Indian Rupee and deposited into their local bank account within one business day.

Travel portal MakeMyTrip  announced a collaboration with Microsoft  to bring travel planning to a wider audience through the introduction of  voice-assisted booking  in Indian languages  . The new technology stack  includes Microsoft Azure  OpenAI Service and Azure Cognitive Services to enable personalized travel recommendations for users based on their preferences.

18 RBI imposes Rs 1.73 crore fine on HSBC Bank

HSBC Bank  has   been fined Rs 1.73 crore  for non-compliance of regulations by the  Reserve Bank of India (RBI) . Apart from this, the central bank has also imposed a penalty of more than Rs 3 lakh on two other banks. In a statement issued by the RBI, it was said that this penalty has been imposed due to failure to comply with the regulatory rules. 19 AM Naik to resign as non-executive chairman

20 Government panel proposes to ban diesel 4-wheelers by 2027

A panel constituted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas  has recommended that  the use of diesel-powered four-wheelers  should be banned in India by 2027. Also, to cut carbon emissions,  cities with a population of more than one million and polluted cities  should switch to electricity and gas-powered vehicles. In fact, India is one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases. To achieve the zero emission target by 2070, India wants to produce 40 per cent of its electricity needs from renewable energy. The government panel said in a report posted on the website of the oil ministry that city buses that are not electric should not be added to the urban transport system by 2030.
