1.Security features of 500, 2000 notes to be changed every 3-4 years :-

To check counterfeiting, the government plans to change security features of higher denomination banknotes of ₹2,000 and ₹500 every 3-4 years in accordance with global standards.

The move comes in the wake of recovery of a large amount of fake currency notes in the last four months after demonetisation.

4.Urjit, deputies get a pay hike :-

RBI Governor Urjit Patel and his deputies have received a salary increase with the government more than doubling their basic salary to ₹2.5 lakh and ₹2.25 lakh a month, respectively.

The “basic pay of the Governor and Deputy Governors” have been revised retrospectively with effect from January 1, 2016 and marks a huge jump from the ₹90,000 basic pay so far drawn by the Governor and ₹80,000 by his deputies.

KANNUR: As the public sector GAIL (India) Ltd. is all set to resume work on laying the natural gas pipeline in the Malabar region, the project has drawn mixed response, with residents of areas through which the proposed pipeline will pass through reiterating their concerns amid the hope that the compensation package from the government and efforts to clear people’s safety concerns can smoothen the way for the project in the district.
