1.Two Day ‘Momentum Jharkhand’ Global Investor Summit 2017 Concluded in Ranchi :-

The two day Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) 2017 was held at Khelgaon in Ranchi, Jharkhand from February 16-17, 2017 with the brand name ‘Momentum Jharkhand’.

 

Aim: To promote industrial activity in Jharkhand and establish the state as one of the prime investment destination of Eastern India.

 

 

2.Science Express’ Train Flagged off to Create Climate Change Awareness in India :-
A ‘Science Express’ train named ‘Science Express Climate Action Special’ was flagged off from Safderjung Railway Station in New Delhi on February 17, 2017 on a seven-month journey to spread awareness about climate change.

 

 

3.Government Increases the Cash Credit Limit For MSMEs To 30 % :-
The Union government has increased the Cash Credit (CC) limit for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to 30 percent of turnover from the existing 20 percent to encourage them to conduct businesses digitally.

 

 

4.Pakistan kills over 24 militants in crackdown after shrine blast :-

Pakistani security forces on Friday killed more than 24 militants in a nationwide crackdown, a day after an ISIS suicide bomber blew himself up in Sufi shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sindh’s Sehwan, claiming 76 lives.

A high-level meeting this week chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif agreed that militants posing threat to national security should be “liquidated”

 

 

5.Government appoints 5 new judges to Supreme Court :-
Five new judges are appointed to the Supreme Court by the President Pranab Mukherjee. Now the total number of  judges in the Supreme Court raised to 28 from 23
New Judges are :
1.Madras High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul
2.Rajasthan HC Chief Justice Naveen Sinha
3.Kerala HC Chief Justice Mohan M Shantanagouder
4.Chhattisgarh HC Chief Justice Dipak Gupta
5.Karnataka HC judge S Abdul Nazeer.

 

 

6.Saini dismisses openers before Australia advance :-

Australia lost both their openers, David Warner and Matt Renshaw, before reaching 81/2 at lunch on the opening day of their three-day warm-up game against India at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

 

 

7.Normalcy in currency operations restored: Jaitley :-

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday said normalcy has been restored within few weeks of the unprecedented decision to recall 86 per cent of the currency in circulation and there is no shortage of notes in market.

 

 

8.Congressman calls for probe into Flynn-Russia interactions :-

Indian-American Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi on Friday demanded a full investigation into former national security advisor Michael Flynn and the Trump Administration’s interactions with the Russian government.

 

 

9.Melania to work on women’s issues as First Lady: Trump :-

US President Donald Trump has said that First Lady Melania would be working on women’s issues and “difficulties” being faced by them.

Mr. Trump said Ms. Melania was a “strong advocate” for women’s issues and feels “very strongly” about it.

 

 

10.India, Afghanistan take a hard line on Taliban at Moscow conference :-

India and Afghanistan took a hard line at the six-nation talks in Moscow on Wednesday, opposing the dominant view from Russia, China and Pakistan to involve the Taliban in reconciliation efforts.
