1.Vice Admiral R. Hari Kumar to replace Admiral Karambir Singh as new Navy Chief

Government Vice Admiral R. Hari Kumar has been appointed as the next Navy Chief . Presently he is the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief in the Western Naval Command. The current Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir Singh is retiring on the 30th of this month. Vice Admiral R. Hari Kumar joined the Indian Navy on 1 January 1983. He served in various command areas during an extensive service span of about 39 years. He commanded INS Nishank, INS Kora and the targeted missile destroyer INS Ranvir and the Indian Navy’s aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He was also the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet.

2.National Achievement Survey will be conducted across the country

Across the country Friday (12 November), the National Achievement survey will be conducted. The Central Government is implementing a sample based program for classes III, V, VIII and X for a period of three years . The last National Achievement Survey was conducted on November 13, 2017 to assess the developed competencies in children of class III, V and VIII. The next phase of the National Achievement Survey will be done to assess the barriers faced in education and new modalities of education during the COVID pandemic.

3.Global Drug Policy Index 2021: India ranks 18th

India was ranked 18th out of 30 countries in the first edition of the Global Drug Policy Index released by the Harm Reduction Consortium in November 2021 . This is a data-driven global analysis of drug policies and their implementation .’ which comes at a time when the Government of India is reviewing the provisions of the ‘Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985’. The Harm Reduction Consortium is a global consortium of networks that aims to challenge the ‘War on Drugs’ globally, increase access to harm reduction services, and advocate for increased resources for harm reduction. The index ranked Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia as the top 5 countries on humanitarian and health-driven medicine policies. The five lowest ranked countries are Brazil, Uganda, Indonesia, Kenya and Mexico.

4.President Ram Nath Kovind honored Nepal Army Chief Prabhu Ram Sharma with the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Ram Nath Kovind a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan Nepal ‘s army chief Lord Ram Sharma, the honorary rank of Army General did. Nepal’s President Vidya Devi Bhandari honored Army Chief Manoj Naravane with the rank of Honorary General of the Nepal Army in November 2020. General Prabhu Ram Sharma is in India on a three-day official visit. He had met the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary.

5.RBI announces its 1st Global Hackathon – Harbinger 2021 – Innovation for Change

The Reserve Bank of India has announced its first ever Global Hackathon – Harbinger 2021 – Innovation for Change . The title of this event has been kept as Smart Digital Payment . The registration for the hackathon will start from 15th of this month. The Reserve Bank of India has invited such participants for the Hackathon who can give suggestions and solutions to simplify the process of digital payments and bring more and more people under its purview. Suggestions have also been sought to strengthen the security of digital payments. Suggestions have also been sought on alternative means of digital payment.

6.Training module of Central Sector Scheme to assist Divyangjan released

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar said in New Delhi at a function in the training plan of the central area to assist Diwyangajn module released. It has been prepared by the Rehabilitation Council of India for different levels of the target group. This includes experts, education workers and grassroots workers from the health and allied sectors. Under this scheme about 10 thousand personnel will be trained every year. The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is in the process of implementing this scheme across the country in the next few months.

7.Many restrictions are imposed on Babaji Date Mahila Sahakari Bank in Maharashtra, including fixing the withdrawal limit of five thousand rupees for customers.

The Reserve Bank has imposed several restrictions on Babaji Date Mahila Sahakari Bank based in Maharashtra , including fixing a withdrawal limit of Rs 5,000 for customers . The restrictions imposed will continue for six months after the financial condition of the bank deteriorates. Babaji Date Mahila Sahakari Bank may neither sanction nor renew loans or advances without the prior approval of the Reserve Bank. He will also not be allowed to invest and borrow and accept fresh deposits. The co-operative bank will not be able to make any payments or sell, transfer or dispose of its assets without the approval of the RBI.

8.Rohit Sharma replaced Virat Kohli as India’s captain in Twenty20 cricket

Rohit Sharma, the vice-captain of India’s T-Twenty cricket team, has been named the captain of the T-Twenty International team. He will replace Virat Kohli. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the decision as well as announced a 16-member Indian squad for the upcoming series with New Zealand. This series will be played in India only.

9.Cabinet approves restoration and continuation of MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)

The Union Cabinet , chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi , has approved the restoration of Parliamentarian Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) during the remaining months of the financial year 2021-22 and the period of the 15th Finance Commission as well as up to the financial year 2025-26.It has been approved to continue. MPLADS is a central sector scheme for which the entire amount is provided by the Government of India. The objective of the scheme is to enable MPs to recommend development works primarily in their respective constituencies with special emphasis on creation of durable community assets in the areas of drinking water, primary education, public health, sanitation and roads, etc. are given. Annual MPLADS amount specified per MP constituency Rs 5 crore , which every two installments of Rs 2.5 croreis issued in. Each installment is released subject to fulfillment of the prescribed conditions as per the guidelines of MPLADS. In order to deal with the health impacts of Kovid-19 as well as other adverse effects in the society, the cabinet in its meeting held on 6th April, 2020 has decided to not operate MPLADS during the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22 and also to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To deal with the effects of the -19 pandemic, it was decided to keep this amount under the Ministry of Finance.

10.Union Cabinet approves declaration of 15 November as Tribal Pride Day

Prime Minister of presiding over the Union Cabinet by November 15 the Day tribal pride is approved to declare as. The day is dedicated to the memory of the brave tribal freedom fighters so that the coming generations can know about their sacrifices for the country. Santhal, Tamar, Kol, Bhil, Khasi and MizoLike India’s freedom struggle was strengthened through various movements by many tribal communities. The revolutionary movements and struggles of the tribal communities are known for their immense courage and supreme sacrifice. Tribal movements against British colonial rule in various regions of the country were linked to the national freedom struggle and inspired Indians across the country. However, most of the people of the country are not much aware of these tribal heroes. In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s speech on Independence Day of 2016 , the Government of India has approved 10 Tribal Freedom Fighters Museums across the country . Shri Birsa Munda on 15th Novemberwho is worshiped as a god by tribal communities across the country. Birsa Munda fought valiantly against the exploitative system of the British colonial system and led the movement against British repression, calling for ‘ ulgulan ‘ (revolution).

11.CRPF launches Choupal to de-stress personnel

Recently, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has introduced ‘ Choupal ‘ to relieve the mental stress of its personnel.’ Like have decided to start a get-together program. Choupal is a popular meeting/meeting-like activity in rural areas. Once or twice a week, 18-20 workers would sit on chairs in a circle outside (possibly under a tree). The chaupal, which will be planned in advance, will consist of personnel of all ranks and will be in civil dress and not in uniform. Company, Platoon or Section Commanders will compulsorily be a part of the Choupal “Group Sharing Exercise”. Senior officers will interact with the soldiers to know about their difficulties and other issues (which can cause mental stress). The system of these personnel already includes regular yoga classes, daily exercise, counseling and other remedial measures, But something more needs to be done to remove the mental stress and fatigue of these forces. More than 100 cases of suicide have been reported in the largest paramilitary force from the year 2020 to September 2021. Most Fratricides were committed in the year 2021.

12.Delhi government launched Shramik Mitra scheme

Delhi Government has recently started ‘ Shramik Mitra ‘ scheme to help the workers engaged in construction works . This scheme will ensure that the benefits of various programs of the government reach the construction workers in the national capital. It is to be noted that many schemes are developed by the government for the benefit of the workers, but most of the workers do not have any knowledge about them. In such a situation, the purpose of this program is to make the workers aware of the benefits of these schemes. Under the ‘Shramik Mitra’ scheme, the government will reach out to the construction workers and inform them about various welfare schemes. A total of 800 ‘Shramik Mitras’ will be appointed for this work.

13.Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnav released postage stamp in memory of BMS founder Dattopant Thengadi

On the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh founder Dattopant Thengadi ji , the postage stamp was released in a program organized at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi’s capital of the country . Union Minister of Communications and Railways Shri Ashwani Vaishnavi ji as the chief guest and Shri Suresh (Bhaiyya ji) Joshi ji outgoing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as a special guest. On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri JP Nadda and Union Minister of State Shri Meenakshi Lekhi also participated. Dattopant Thengadi founded the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh in 1955. The credit for the establishment of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Swadeshi Jagran Manch and many other organizations also goes to Thegdi ji.

14.IAF crew inducted for Dubai Air Show 2021

The Indian Air Force (IAF) contingent has been inducted to participate in the biennial Dubai Air Show to be held at Al Maktoum International Airport from November 14 to 18 . The IAF has been invited by the UAE-UAE Government along with Sarang and Surya Kiran aerobatics teams to participate. These teams will perform alongside some of the best aerobatics and performance teams in the world, including the Saudi Hawks, the Russian Knights and the UAE’s Al Fursan. In addition, IAF’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas will be part of the aerobatics and static display during the show.

15.The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 31st edition of “Hunar Haat”, “Kaushal Kuber Ka Kumbh” and “Braj Raj Utsav” in Vrindavan

16.Under the essential package rules, it was made mandatory to do 100% packing of food grains and 20 percent of sugar in jute bags.

The Government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved reservation rules for compulsory use of Jute in packaging for the Jute Year 2021-22 (July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022) . Under the approved essential package rules for the jute year 2021-22, it has been made mandatory to pack 100 percent of food grains and 20 percent of sugar in jute bags. The jute industry has an important place in the national economy of India in general and the eastern region in particular, i.e. West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is a major industry in the eastern region, especially in West Bengal.

17.Fourth Scorpene submarine ‘Vela’ handed over to Indian Navy

The fourth submarine of Project-75 was handed over to the Indian Navy at Yard 11878 on 09 November 2021. Project-75 involves the construction of six Scorpene-designed submarines . Construction of these submarines France of Messrs Naval Group in collaboration with the Mumbai -based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) is being done. Submarine ‘ Vela ‘ was launched on May 06, 2019 . It has completed all major port and sea trials, including weapon and sensor tests, despite COVID restrictions. Three of these submarines are already in operation with the Indian Navy. Two Pandubbion- Calvary and Khanderihas been inducted into the Indian Navy. Scorpene ‘ Vagir ‘ trial is going on.

18.Karnataka to train 18,000 women members of self-help groups on solid waste management and solar energy utilization in rural areas

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department , Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Energy and Development Institute (Mjiaiaridi) Karnataka ‘s self-help groups of 18 thousand rural women training in various fields such as solid waste management and solar energy utility in rural areas. These women will be hired by their local village panchayats as Swachh Karmikas, so that daily waste collection, sorting of wastes, operation of Swachh Vahini, etc. can be done.

19.DRDO and Israel’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development sign bilateral innovation agreement for development of dual-use technologies

As a tangible testament to the growing technical cooperation between India and Israel , start-ups and MSMEs from both the countries are engaged in the development of dual-use technologies.Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), Ministry of Defense of Israel have signed a Bilateral Innovation Agreement (BIA) to promote innovation and accelerated R&D in the country. The MoU was signed between Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Secretary, Department of Defense Research and Development and Chairman, DRDO, and Dr. Daniel Gould, Head of DDR&D, Israel, BG (Retd) in New Delhi on November 9, 2021. Under this agreement, start-ups and industries from both the countries will work together to bring next generation technologies and products across multiple sectors. These areas include drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, photonics, biosensing, brain-machine interfaces, energy storage, wearable devices, and natural language processing.

20.Indian Army signs MoU with Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N)

Indian Army has launched Bhaskaracharya National Institute of Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N) in Gandhinagar in Gujarat .has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with. This MoU is for Geographic Information System- GIS and Information Technology- IT based enterprise resource planning software, training material, dissemination of audio-visual material, research and knowledge partnership, development in technical assistance and upgradation of resources developed under a holistic partnership. Will facilitate exchange of knowledge and cooperation in the field of emerging technologies. This is helpful for projects that have prior approval of the Army Management Studies Board (AMSB) under the overall partnership or are approved on a case-by-case basis. This MoU will help BISAG-N take advantage of the opportunities in the relative favorable conditions of BISAG-N to support training and develop innovative solutions to enhance the operational capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces.
