Delhi  ‘s  Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) has ranked among the top 10 hub airports in Asia-Pacific and Middle East  , according to  the 2024 Air Connectivity Ranking  released by  Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID)  . Operated by GMR Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), IGIA is the only Indian airport to make it to this exclusive list, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation and connectivity ambitions.  Top 3 airports in the ranking  –

  • Dubai International Airport
  • Shanghai Pudong International Airport
  • Hamad International Airport (Doha, Qatar)

2 Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched ‘Bharat Gen’ in New Delhi

Union Minister  Jitendra Singh  launched   ‘ Bharat Gen ‘  , an indigenously developed Government funded  AI based Multimodal Large Language Model  for Indian languages  ​​in New Delhi . Bharat Gen aims to revolutionise AI development in the linguistic and cultural sphere of the country. It brings together leading academic institutions, experts and innovators. Dr Singh said the platform integrates text, speech and image modalities and provides seamless AI solutions in 22 Indian languages. He said the initiative will empower critical sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture and governance.

3 The 18th Border Security Force contingent led by Commandant Kailash Singh Mehta will leave for the United Nations Peace Mission in Beni, Congo on June 4

The 18th Border Security Force contingent  led by  Commandant Kailash Singh Mehta will leave for  the United Nations Peace Mission  in Beni, Congo  on June 4.   The 160-member contingent, including 24 women constables and a female medical officer, was bid farewell by the force’s Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary in New Delhi. The contingent underwent pre-deployment training for 11 weeks and successfully completed the operational capability evaluation test. This contingent will replace the 17th BSF contingent.

4 Sandeep Arya created a world record by doing 20,000 consecutive Surya Namaskars in Modhera, Gujarat

Sandeep Arya,  a   resident of  Faridpur village  of  Hisar district,  has created  a world record  by doing  Surya Namaskar twenty thousand times continuously  in  Modhera, Gujarat . His name has been registered in the America Book and London Book of Records  . Sandeep has been doing Surya Namaskar for the last fifteen years. He has created six world records so far. He has also been honored by Haryana Governor  Bandaru Dattatreya  . He told that his first world record was of doing Surya Namaskar 5000 times continuously.

7 China launched Tianwen-2 mission to collect samples from asteroid

China  has  launched  the Tianwen-2 interplanetary mission  to collect samples from a near-Earth asteroid, 2016HO3,  and later explore a main-belt comet  . This important space effort, led by the China National Space Administration (CNSA)  , is a bold step in China’s ambitious cosmic agenda, aimed at deepening humanity’s understanding of the origin of the solar system and the evolution of planets. The Tianwen-2 mission was   launched on May 30, 2025, using a Long March-3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan, China .

8 Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana took over as Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command

Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana  took over as the 18th Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman and Nicobar Command on June 01, 2025.   The Andaman and Nicobar Command, based at Sri Vijayapuram, is India’s first and only tri-service operational command that integrates the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. The command safeguards national interests in the strategically important Indian Ocean region.

9 Witold Banka and Yang Yang again became President and Vice President of WADA

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board has  re-elected  independent President  Witold Banka  and Vice President  Yang Yang for a third and final three-year term, effective  January 1, 2026, until the end of 2028.  Banka received 36 votes with two abstentions, while Yang was re-elected unanimously. The two leaders expressed gratitude for the Board’s trust and pledged to advance WADA’s mission of protecting clean sport worldwide by strengthening education, athlete engagement and scientific compliance.

10 Luis Montenegro again became the Prime Minister of Portugal

Luis Montenegro  of   the  centre-right  Social Democratic Party (PSD)  and  Democratic Alliance (AD) has been sworn in as Portugal’s new prime minister at Ajuda Palace in  Lisbon . He will lead a minority government that will face challenges in passing legislation due to the fragmented nature of the country’s parliament.

11 Karol Nawrocki, an independent candidate backed by the Law and Justice party, wins Poland’s presidential election

Karol Nawrocki,  an   independent candidate supported by  the opposition Law and Justice party  in  Poland , has won the second round of elections for Poland’s presidency  . According to the election commission, Nawrocki got about 51 percent of the votes. He defeated the candidate of the ruling Civic Coalition and Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski.

Veteran South African cricketer Heinrich Klaasen has  officially  announced his retirement from international formats  , bringing an end to his successful career that began in 2018. 13 Deepak and Naman Tanwar won two gold medals in the fourth edition of the Thailand Open International Boxing Championship

Deepak and Naman Tanwar  won   two  gold medals in  the fourth edition   of  the Thailand Open International Boxing Competition . Deepak defeated Abdurakhimov Javokhir of Uzbekistan  5-0   in the final of  the 75 kg weight category . Naman  defeated Han Xuezhen of China 4-1 in the 90 kg weight category. However,  Kiran  lost to Yeldana Talipova of Kazakhstan   in the final of  the women’s over 80 kg weight category and got the silver medal  . Apart from this, five other women boxers  Tamanna in 51 kg, Priya in 57, Sanju in 60, Saneh in 70 and Lalfakmawi Ralte  in  80 kg weight category  won bronze medals .

15 Defending world champion D. Gukesh defeated world number one Magnus Carlsen in Norway Chess 2025 tournament

In the Norway Chess 2025 tournament,  current world champion  D. Gukesh  defeated   world  number one Magnus Carlsen . This is Gukesh’s first win over Carlsen in the classical game  . In the Norwegian city of Stavanger, Carlsen maintained control over the game for most of the time. But 19-year-old Gukesh defended brilliantly and took advantage of Carlsen’s mistake at a tense time. The two have faced each other earlier in the tournament in which Carlsen won but this time Gukesh turned the tables.
