1 Enhanced Long Range Anti-Submarine Rocket User Tested Successfully From INS Kavaratti

 User trials of  Enhanced Long Range Anti-Submarine Rocket (ERASR)  were successfully conducted from  INS Kavaratti from 23 June 2025  to  07 July 2025. Pune  -based  Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE)  of  Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)  in collaboration with  High  Energy Materials Research Laboratory and Naval Science and Technology Laboratory has designed and developed ERASR for  Indigenous Rocket Launcher (IRL)  of  Indian Naval  ships   . ERASR is a fully indigenous anti-submarine rocket used to combat submarines and is fired from IRL of Indian Naval ships. It has a twin-rocket motor configuration to meet the requirements of engaging targets at longer ranges with high accuracy and stability. ERASR uses indigenously developed electronic time fuse.

2 An Indian Air Force Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Churu district of Rajasthan

 A  Jaguar fighter plane  of the Indian Air Force has  crashed near Churu district of Rajasthan  . Police and administrative teams reached the spot immediately after the incident. Churu Superintendent of Police said that two bodies have been recovered from the spot.

3 First indigenous diving support vessel ‘Nistar’ handed over to Indian Navy

Hindustan Shipyard Limited  handed  over the first indigenously built Diving Support Vessel Nistar  to the Indian Navy  in  Visakhapatnam on Tuesday   . This warship has been designed and built as per Indian navigation. This ship is highly specialized and can carry out deep sea diving and rescue operations. It is noteworthy that only a few navies around the world have this capability. The name of the ship  Nistar is derived from Sanskrit which means liberation, rescue or salvation . This ship  , 118 meters long and weighing about 10,000 tons,  is equipped with state-of-the-art diving equipment and  is capable of diving in the deep sea up to a depth of 300 meters  . The ship also has a side diving stage to dive to a depth of 75 meters. This ship will also act as a ‘ mother ship ‘ for the deep submergence rescue vessel (DSRV), so that personnel can be rescued and evacuated in case of an emergency in a submarine under water. The ship is equipped with a combination of remotely operated vehicles to carry out diver surveillance and rescue operations up to depths of 1000 metres.

4 “Collab Engine” campaign flagged off by Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Ajay Tamta

Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways Hon’ble  Shri Ajay Tamta flagged off  the nationwide Electric Mobility and Sustainability campaign “Collab Engine”   from his own initiative  . The campaign is inspired by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi  ‘s  Mission LiFE  (Lifestyle for Environment) vision and aims to spread awareness about clean and sustainable mobility across the country. Collab Engine is a youth-led EV road trip that
will: – Cover a distance of 10,500+ kms connecting 25+ cities,
– Attempt to set a world record (Longest EV drive),
– Promote adoption of electric vehicles and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The campaign is kicked off with an electric vehicle that will travel pollution-free throughout the route. The team will conduct mass interactions and awareness sessions at various schools, colleges and public places en route.

5 Dholpur gets first science centre among aspiring districts: Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates Youth Innovation Centre

In an effort to bridge the gap between science and society  , Union Minister for Science and Technology  Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated  the Dholpur Science Centre  in Rajasthan  and called it a hub of innovation and scientific curiosity for school children and youth in the region. Developed by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in partnership with the National Institute of Immunology (NII) and the National Science Centre, the centre is part of a broader national initiative to set up science museums in aspiring districts across the country. The centre, which is expected to host various science-based activities in the coming months, will also promote community outreach and awareness programmes in partnership with local schools.

6 Eternal appoints Aditya Mangala as CEO of food delivery

In an effort to strengthen its foothold in India’s fast-growing food delivery market,  Eternal  has  appointed Aditya Mangala as the new CEO of  its  food ordering and delivery division  . This leadership change took place on July 6, 2025, which was part of the company’s pre-planned strategy. Aditya Mangala will now take charge of Eternal’s food delivery operations for the next two years. He will replace Rakesh Ranjan, who held the position for the last two years and is now stepping down from all senior management roles.

7 BMW India Group appoints Hardeep Singh Brar as CEO

BMW Group India announced the appointment of Hardeep Singh Brar as President and Chief Executive Officer. This appointment will be effective from September 1, 2025. According to a statement issued by the BMW India Group, Brar, a former executive of Kia India, is going to replace Vikram Pawah. Vikram Pawah will now take over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BMW Australia and New Zealand.

8 UPI will also be available in Trinidad and Tobago, the 8th country to do so

Trinidad and Tobago   has become  the eighth country in the world and the first in the Caribbean region to launch UPI (Unified Payments Interface) services for Indian travellers  . The initiative will now allow Indian tourists to make payments directly in Indian Rupees using their mobile UPI apps. The service was launched during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Trinidad and Tobago, and is a significant step towards promoting digital cooperation and tourism between India and the island nation. UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is a fast, secure and real-time digital payment system developed in India. It allows people to send or receive money instantly using just a mobile phone and an internet connection—without entering bank details, just by entering a mobile number or UPI ID.

9 V.S. Ravi released the book “Confessions of a Shakespeare Addict” based on Shakespeare in Hyderabad

Retired IPS officer V.S. Ravi released his new book “ Confessions of a Shakespeare Addict ”  on 7th July 2025  in Hyderabad  . The event was held in an august and intellectual atmosphere attended by a large number of former civil servants, scholars and literature lovers. The book reflects Shri Ravi’s lifelong love and passion for William Shakespeare. In it, he has shared his personal interpretations, experiences and thoughts related to Shakespeare’s plays and poems, taking the readers into the depths of literature.

10 Bulgaria will join the Eurozone in 2026

The European Union (EU)  finance ministers  gave final approval   to  Bulgaria to adopt the euro  on  8 July 2025. Now Bulgaria  will adopt the euro as its official currency from 1 January 2026. With this historic step, Bulgaria will become  the 21st member of the eurozone  . This decision is considered an important progress towards European integration, which will give stability to the country’s economy, new opportunities for investment and business. Bulgaria will now officially replace its national currency “lev” with the euro. For this, a fixed exchange rate of 1 euro = 1.95583 lev has been fixed.

11 Postal Department released commemorative postage stamp on the 125th birth anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee

The Department of Posts  on Wednesday  released a commemorative postage stamp  to celebrate  the 125th birth anniversary of Syama Prasad Mukherjee  during a grand function held at  Siri Fort Auditorium in   Delhi  . The event, organised by  the Ministry of Culture  , featured a live cultural programme including a display of patriotic musical instruments and an exhibition on the life, legacy and contribution of Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Syama Prasad Mukherjee was born on  6 July 1901  in an illustrious family. His father Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee was renowned as an educationist and intellectual in Bengal. Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee wanted to make Jammu and Kashmir a full and integral part of India. In his speech in Parliament, he also strongly advocated the abolition of Article 370.  In August 1952, at a massive rally in Jammu and Kashmir  , he expressed his resolve that ” either I will get you the Indian Constitution or I will sacrifice my life to achieve this objective “. To fulfill his resolve, Dr Mukherjee   set out on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir in 1953 without a permit. As soon as he reached there, he  was arrested .  He died in mysterious circumstances in jail on 23 June 1953  .

12 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships to be held in Jakarta from 19-25 October

The Artistic Gymnastics World Championship will be held for the first time  this year  from 19 to 25 October   in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia  . This is the first time that this competition will be hosted by a South-East Asian country. 86 countries have registered to participate in this World Championship.

13 Asia’s oldest elephant ‘Vatsala’ died in MP Panna Tiger Reserve

Vatsala, Asia  ‘s  oldest living elephant, breathed her last   on Tuesday,  July 8, 2025,  in  Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh  . She is believed to have lived to be over 100 years old , an extremely rare and extraordinary age for Asian elephants   . Vatsala was born  in the Nilambur forest of Kerala  and  spent  her  early life transporting forest produce . In 1971,  at the age of about 50, she was brought to   the Bori Sanctuary in Hoshangabad  , and then in 1993,  Vatsala was transferred to  the Panna Tiger Reserve  . Coming to Panna, Vatsala not only led the herd of elephants, but she also helped in tiger tracking for 10 years. She was retired in 2003  , but even after this, she stayed at the Hinouta camp and took care of the small elephant calves and taught them tricks. Due to this maternal instinct and affectionate nature, she was also called ‘Dadi’.

14 International umpire Bismillah Jan Shinwari dies at the age of 41

Bismillah Jan Shinwari ,  a respected member of the International Cricket Council ‘s  (ICC)  International Umpire Panel , tragically passed away on Monday, 7 July 2025 at the age of 41. He was fighting the final battle of life while undergoing abdominal surgery in Peshawar, Pakistan. Shinwari entered the world of international umpiring in 2017, when he  officiated in his first ODI match between Afghanistan and Ireland  in Sharjah . His career continued to grow thereafter, and he   became one of Afghanistan’s most prominent cricket umpires on the global stage.

15 Famous Nigerian football player Peter Rufai dies at the age of 61

Former Nigeria  national  football team  goalkeeper  Peter Rufai  died on Thursday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 61 after a prolonged illness. He was a vital member of Nigeria’s  1994 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)  victory and also represented the country in two FIFA World Cups. Peter Rufai, fondly  called Dodo Mayana  , was one of the finest goalkeepers in Nigeria’s football history.
