1 Exercise Tiger Triumph – 2025

 The 4th edition of  the bilateral tri-military Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR)  Exercise  Tiger Triumph  between  India and the United States will be held from 01  to  13 April 2025 on the Eastern Seaboard  . The aim of the exercise is to develop interoperability for conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief activities and to formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for setting up a Joint Coordination Centre (CCC). This initiative will enable rapid and smooth coordination between Indian and US Joint Task Forces (JTF) during various exercises and crisis/contingency. The Indian side will be represented by Indian Naval Ships Jalashwa, Gharial, Mumbai and Shakti.

2 Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font will arrive in India on Tuesday on a five-day visit

 President of  Chile Gabriel Boric will arrive in India on a five-day visit  from  Fonte  . He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Ministers, Members of Parliament, trade associations and prominent Chileans involved in India-Chile cultural relations. This will be Mr. Boric’s first visit to India as President. During the visit, President Boric will hold discussions on the entire gamut of India-Chile relations with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. President Boric will also meet President Draupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet in his honour.

3 IA successfully tested India’s first Kamikaze FPV drone with Kamikaze anti-tank weapons

In March 2025the Fleur-de-Lis Brigade (2nd Independent Armoured Brigade)  of  the Indian Army (IA) , in partnership with the Chandigarh  (Punjab)-based  Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL) a unit under  the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) ,  successfully test fired  a First Person View (FPV) drone  equipped with   impact   -based  kamikaze-role anti-tank weapons in Pathankot, Punjab . This is the first project of its kind,  designed for  precision strikes against armoured vehicles . The drone was assembled at the Rising Star Drone Battle School  , which has produced over 100 drones as of March 2025. The drone has been developed by the TBRL team led by Major Cephas Chetan and Dr. Raghavendra of the IA.

4 BU researchers and ZSI discover new marine parasitic isopod species ‘Lobothorax bharat’

In March 2025,   researchers from the Department of Zoology,   Berhampur  University (BU), Odisha  , in collaboration with  the  Estuarine Biology Regional Centre (EBRC)  of  the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Ganjam (Odisha)   have discovered a new species of marine parasitic isopod . The species has been named ‘ Lobothorax bharatii ‘ in honour of India, the homeland of the scientists behind the discovery. This tiny parasite, less than 3 centimetres (cm) long, was found along the coast at Gopalpur and Bahabalpur in Ganjam and Balasore districts of Odisha respectively.

 

5 NITI FTH, CII and AICTE launch Dx-EDGE for MSME digital transformation

 

In March 2025 , NITI Frontier Tech Hub (NITI-FTH) of  NITI Aayog  (National Institution for Transforming India)   launched  the Digital Excellence for Growth and Enterprise (Dx -EDGE)  initiative in collaboration with   New Delhi  -based  Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)  under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) and  New  Delhi  -based  All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)  under  the Ministry of Education (MoE)  . The initiative aims to empower micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with digital tools, knowledge and ecosystem to enhance efficiency, revenues and global competitiveness.

6 MobiKwik launches MSBPL as a wholly-owned entity for stock broking

In March 2025Gurugram (Haryana)  -based  One Mobikwik Systems Limited (Mobikwik) , a leading fintech company,  expanded its financial services portfolio  by incorporating   a wholly-owned subsidiary,  Mobikwik Securities Broking Private Limited (MSBPL) , after approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MoCA)  . Mobikwik has set an initial paid-up share capital of Rs 1 lakh for MSBPL and plans to invest an additional Rs 2 crore in phases. With 100% ownership, Mobikwik will have full operational control.

 

7 SRMB Steel appoints Rohit Sharma as brand ambassador

In March 2025,  Kolkata  (West Bengal, WB)-based  SRMB Srijan Steel Private Limited (SRMB Steel) , a leading manufacturer and supplier of Thermo-Mechanical Treated (TMT) bars in India, announced the appointment of Indian cricket team captain  Rohit Sharma  as its  brand ambassador  . The association aims to enhance SRMB Steel’s brand presence by leveraging Sharma’s immense popularity and leadership qualities. Rohit Sharma has   become a part of SRMB Steel’s celebrity endorser lineup along with former Indian World Cup-winning captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni  and  Kapil Dev .

8 Ambuj Chandna appointed MD and head of Consumer Banking Group at DBS Bank India

In March 2025Mumbai  (Maharashtra)-based  DBS Bank India , a major player in the Indian banking sector, has  announced the appointment  of Ambuj Chandna  as its new Managing Director (MD) and  Head of Consumer Banking Group  . He will replace Prashant Joshi  , who joined DBS Bank India in August 2020. His appointment comes soon after Rajat Verma took over as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DBS Bank India, replacing Surojit Shome on March 1, 2025. Ambuj Chandna previously served as the President and Head of the Consumer Banking Group.

Asia Cup Hockey will be organized in Rajgir, Bihar on 9 August 2025

The Asia Cup Hockey  will be held in Rajgir, Bihar in the month of August this year.   Hockey  India and  Bihar  State  Sports  Authority  signed  a  Memorandum of Understanding in this regard in Patna. The competition will be held  from 29 August to 7 September at Rajgir Hockey Stadium. 8 teams including India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, China and Malaysia will participate  in this 12th edition of the Asia Cup   . India has won this tournament thrice so far. Hockey India President  Dr. Dilip Tirkey  has praised the Bihar Government and Bihar State Sports Authority for their cooperation in organizing the competition.

10 Miami Open Tennis Tournament: Czech player Jakub Mencic defeated Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-6 in the men’s singles final

At the Miami Open tennis tournament,  19-year-old  Czech player Jakub Mencic  defeated  six-time Miami Open winner Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-6  in the  men’s singles final in Florida  . With this win, Mencic has also become the second youngest champion of the tournament after Carlos Alcaraz. Mencic also became the first Czech player to win an ATP Masters 1000 event since Tomas Berdych’s victory in Paris in 2005.
