1 External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar launches website for 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar  launched   the website for the   18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas  along with Odisha  Chief  Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in  New Delhi  . The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas convention will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha  from  January 8-10 next year  . Dr. Jaishankar said that when India is facing various global challenges, the strength of the Indian diaspora is providing support and strong foundation to the country in dealing with it. He expressed confidence that the Indian diaspora will continue to play a significant role in making India a developed country by 2047.

2 India-Russia signed an agreement for Pantsir air defense system

On  November 11,  an important agreement was signed between  India and Russia   regarding  the air defense system . The Indian government  has decided to buy  the Advanced Pantsir Air Defense System from Russia. This deal  has been done with  Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)  and the Russian government-controlled arms exporter company,  Rosoboronexport (ROE) . Under this agreement, Russia will transfer the technology of the Pantsir variant air defense system to India  and then  both will develop it together . Under this deal, India aims to achieve self-sufficiency in defense production under the Make in India initiative. Pantsir is a versatile mobile platform designed to protect army bases and other infrastructure from air attacks. It has an automatic ground-to-air anti-missile and anti-aircraft system, which can destroy precision weapons and cruise missiles including planes, helicopters, aircraft, drones.

3 Mike Waltz will be America’s National Security Advisor

America  ‘s newly elected President  Donald Trump  has  announced Florida  Congressman  Mike Waltz  as his new  National Security Advisor  . Mike Waltz is the co-chairman of the India Caucus. 50-year-old Waltz is a retired Army Colonel. He has been a member of the US House of Representatives since 2019.

4 Alix Didier Fils-Aime sworn in as Prime Minister of Haiti

Alix Didier Fils-Aime  was  sworn in as the Prime Minister of the Caribbean country Haiti  . In his speech at the swearing-in ceremony, he expressed gratitude for the extensive preparations and uncontested elections held amid the current insecurity. He said that the situation is chaotic, but nothing is impossible. Haiti is facing humanitarian and security crises due to increasing gang violence.

5 In Punjab, RPF launched Mission-Nanhe Farishte and Operation-Meri Saheli to prevent child trafficking and protect women passengers

The RPF ,  manning   262 railway stations in PunjabHimachal Pradesh  and  Jammu & Kashmir  under  Ferozepur  Division  of  Northern Railway  in  Punjab , is actively following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety of unaccompanied women travellers   under  Operation Meri Saheli  as well as preventing  child trafficking  in trains under  Mission Nanhe Farishte  and  Operation Aahat . Recently, the Ministry of Women and Child Development had assured the Railways that there would be no dearth of funds in its efforts to make rail travel safe for women and children.

6 released the book titled ‘Maa-Mother’ in New Delhi

Law and Justice Minister  Arjun Ram Meghwal  released  a book titled ‘ Maa-Mother ‘  in presence of Kerala Governor Arif  Mohammad  Khan  and  West Bengal  Governor  Dr. C.V. Anand Bose  in  New Delhi. The book  is written by Dr. Devendra Kumar Dhodawat, Additional Secretary to the Governor of Kerala  .

7 Amazon launches its first ‘Amazon Future Engineer Makerspace’ in Bengaluru

Amazon  has  announced the launch of   its first ‘ Amazon Future Engineer Makerspace ‘ in Bengaluru  on  November 12. Its aim is to make more than 4,000 students technically skilled by 2025.  This  program  is free. The aim of this initiative is to provide learning training to underprivileged students from class 5th to 12th. Students will be taught innovative technological skills. Different programs are available for students of all levels.

8 Pakistani bowler ‘Noman Ali’ and New Zealand all-rounder ‘Amelia Kerr’ became ICC Player of the Month

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced  the ‘ Player of the Month ‘  on Tuesday, November 12. Pakistan’s spinner bowler ‘Noman Ali’  has received the ‘Player of the Month’ award for October for his outstanding performance in the men’s category, while  New Zealand’s star all-rounder ‘Amelia Kerr’  has received the ‘Player of the Month’ award for his outstanding performance in the women’s category.

9 Pankaj Advani is world billiards champion

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  has   congratulated  Pankaj Advani  on  becoming the World Billiards Champion . 39-year-old Advani  won  his 28th world title during  the IBSG World Billiards Championship   in  Doha  ,  Qatar on Saturday. He defeated England’s Robert Hall  in the final. This win  is also his  seventh consecutive world title win in the sport.

10 Grand Master Arvind Chithambaram defeated Levon Aronian to win the Chennai Grand Masters title

 In  chess , Grand Master Arvind Chithambaram  defeated  American Grand Master Levon Aronian  in a tough match  to win the Chennai Grand Masters  title. At the same time, Grand Master V. Pranav  remained undefeated  in   the Challengers title tournament and won the Challengers title. A triangular contest was seen for the top spot in the Masters category. Arvind defeated Grand Master Levon Aronian in the first blitz play-off and then drew the second blitz match with black pieces to win his second title of the tournament.   Organised by  MGD1 and sponsored by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu  , matches were played for two categories – Masters and Challengers titles for the Chennai Grand Masters 2024.
