1. President inaugurates International Engineering & Technology Fair – 2023

The President  Smt. Draupadi Murmu  inaugurated  the 25th International Engineering and Technology Fair (IETF) 2023  in  New Delhi  on   February 16, 2023 . 2. Prime Minister virtually launched Jal Jan Abhiyan in Rajasthan

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  launched   Jal Jan Abhiyan  through virtual medium at  Abu Road  in  Sirohi district  of  Rajasthan . Union Jal Shakti Minister  Gajendra Singh Shekhawat , film actor  Nana Patekar  and eminent citizens were present on the occasion. Under the nationwide campaign,   people associated with  the Brahmakumaris Sansthan and the Ministry of Jal Shakti  will conduct an eight-month public awareness campaign to conserve more than five thousand water bodies and create new water bodies  across the country  . Through the campaign, a target has been fixed to reach 100 million people by organizing 10,000 programmes.

3. Prime Minister inaugurated Aadi Mahotsav at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi

Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  inaugurated   the Mega National Tribal Festival,  Aadi Mahotsav  at  Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi . inaugurated. 4. India-Fiji sign MoU on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and official passports

India and Fiji  have   signed an MoU on visa exemption  for  holders of diplomatic and official passports . The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Fijian Prime Minister Sitwini Rabuka and Foreign Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. 5. International Solar Alliance and West African Power Pool host 13 African countries in New Delhi to share best practices in solar deployment

International Solar Alliance (ISA) ,  in association with   Grid Controller of India Limited (GRID-INDIA)  and  West African Power Pool (WAPP) , New Delhi from 14 to 18 February, is hosting delegates from the West African region in India. 6. Neil Mohan of Indian origin becomes the new CEO of YouTube

Neil Mohan of Indian origin   has   been appointed as the new CEO of YouTube . Prior to this, Neel Mohan was the CPO of YouTube. He has been promoted and given this responsibility. Neil Mohan has been working with Google since 2008. In the year 2013, the company gave him a bonus of Rs 544 crore. He will replace former CEO Susan Diane Wojcicki. 8. Sikkim, Laxman Prasad Acharya sworn in as the 17th Governor of the state

 In  Sikkim , Laxman Prasad Acharya  was sworn in as the 17th Governor  of the state at the Raj Bhavan in Gangtok  . He was administered the oath by Sikkim High Court Chief Justice Vishwanath Somadar. The Sikkim Police presented a guard of honor to Shri Acharya on the occasion. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister PS Tamang, Ministers, MLAs and officers.

9. Justice Sonia Gokani assumes charge as Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court

Justice  Sonia Gokani  assumed   charge as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court . Governor  Acharya Devvrat  administered him the oath of office and secrecy at the Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar.  Sonia Gokani has become the first woman Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court  . 11. Ministry of Tourism to organize first Global Tourism Investment Summit in New Delhi

 To know about the opportunities available in   the tourism and hospitality sector in the country , the Ministry of Tourism   will organize the first Global Tourism Investment Summit  in   New Delhi  from May 17 to 19 . The conference will provide information about investment possibilities in hotels, restaurants, adventure destinations and eco-tourism, yachting and other areas related to tourism.

12. Indian Institute of Science and Center for Brain Research signed an MoU with Pratiksha Trust

The Indian Institute of Science and the Center for Brain Research  have   signed an MoU with the Pratiksha Trust . Under this agreement,  four hundred and fifty crore rupees  will be spent on research, innovation and deep science in the next ten years. In this, assistance will also be provided for research on diseases related to old age. The Center for Brain Research at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was established in 2014 by eminent social workers and philanthropists Krish Gopalakrishnan and Sudha Gopalakrishnan. The modern building of the center was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2022. Diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and vesicular dementia are treated in this center.

13. World Bank chief David Malpass announced to step down from the post even before the completion of his term

 The head of  the World Bank , David Malpass ,  has announced his decision to step down  even before the completion of his five-year term. Mr Malpass was appointed in 2019. According to media reports, there have been calls for Mr Malpass’s resignation or removal from his post in the last few months. Climate activists have called for his removal, citing his approach to the climate crisis.

14. Huge hike in fuel prices in Pakistan

 The Government  of Pakistan has wildly increased the prices of fuel  . Earlier, the government introduced the Finance Supplementary Bill 2023. Petrol price was increased by Rs 22, 20 paise to Rs 272 per litre. The price of high speed diesel was increased by Rs 17.20 per liter to Rs 280 while that of kerosene was increased by Rs 12.90 to Rs 202.73 per litre. The Federal Board of Revenue of Pakistan has increased the sales tax rate from Rs 17 to Rs 18. This will generate an additional Rs 115 billion in revenue.

15. Asia’s biggest seafood show India International Seafood Show to be held in Kolkata

The India International Seafood Show,  Asia’s largest seafood product event,   will conclude in Kolkata . The three-day event has been organized by the Marine Products Export Development Authority in collaboration with the Marine Products Exporters Association. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that India has set a target of $14 billion marine product exports by the year 2025. In this year’s Union Budget, the government has announced a scheme named Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Saha-Yojana and has earmarked an amount of six thousand crore rupees for it.

16. Joint military exercise between India and Japan begins at Camp Imazu in Japan

 Exercise  Dharma Guardian , the fourth joint military exercise  between  India and Japan  , will begin at Camp Imazu in Shiga Prefecture, Japan . This exercise will continue till the second of March 2023. This annual training program with Japan is crucial and important keeping in view the challenges faced by both the countries in view of the present global situation. The exercise involves platoon level joint training on operations in jungle and semi-urban or urban areas.

17. Indian Railways launches Rail Dak Gati Shakti Express cargo service

Indian Railways  has   launched Rail Dak Gati Shakti Express Cargo Service  for timely delivery of goods to  the service sector . This service has been launched in partnership with Indian Railways and Indian Post. The Indian Postal Department will receive the customers’ consignments and deliver them to the railway stations, from where they will be delivered to their destinations. This service will be available from Delhi to Kolkata, Bangalore to Guwahati, Surat to Muzaffarpur and Hyderabad to Hazrat Nizamuddin. According to the Ministry of Railways, such services will be available for a total of 15 areas in the first phase.

19. Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia laid the foundation stone of Rewa Airport

Civil Aviation and Steel Minister  Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia  along   with  Madhya Pradesh  Chief Minister  Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone of Rewa Airport  in Madhya Pradesh. Rewa airfield has a runway of 1400 meters with a small building spread over 150 square meters and 61.95 acres of land. It was owned by the state government of Madhya Pradesh. The state government has handed over the existing airport to the Airport Authority of India for renovation as well as creation of facilities required for operation of 19-seater aircraft.

20. The first meeting of the Culture Working Group of G-20 will be held in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh from 22 to 25 February 2023

The Ministry of Culture   is organizing the first meeting of the Culture Working Group (CWG) from 22 to 25 February 2023  at   Khajuraho,  Madhya Pradesh . Khajuraho is an ancient city known for its grand temples and elaborate sculptures. Known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Khajuraho Group of Monuments was built by the Chandela dynasty between 950-1050 AD. As a part of this meeting, an exhibition titled “Re(a)Dress: Return of Treasures” will be held at the Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Center (MCCC), which will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Chouhan and Minister of Culture, Tourism and North-East Area Development Minister Mr. Kishan Reddy.

22. Outbreak of Marburg virus disease confirmed in Guinea

An outbreak of Marburg virus disease  has been confirmed  in   equatorial  Guinea in central Africa . According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Marburg virus disease is highly contagious and causes hemorrhagic fever. It begins suddenly with high fever, severe headache and worrying malaise. Out of every 100 people who get infected with this virus, 88 are likely to die. The virus is transmitted from fruit bats to people and to other humans through direct contact with bodily fluids, surfaces and materials of infected people. Marburg was first identified as a rare virus in 1967 after simultaneous disease outbreaks in laboratories in Germany and Belgrade, Serbia.

23. Mammoth cloud seen over Nebraska, USA

Recently  a cluster of clouds which  appear  like bubbles  from below  were seen hovering over Nebraska , USA  as moist warm air that rises and cools condenses as water droplets at a specific  temperature  It happens. This usually happens at certain altitudes and the bottom of the cloud appears like a bubble. Opaque clouds are formed due to water droplets. However, under certain conditions, cloud pockets can form, consisting of large drops of water or ice that evaporate into the clear air. These pockets can form in turbulent air near a thunderstorm. Due to this,  Mammatus Clouds  are visible.

24. A new beetle species named Omorgus khandesh was discovered

A new beetle species  named  Omorgus khandesh  has been discovered in India  . This cricket/beetle is important for forensic science as it helps in ascertaining the time of death of an animal or a human being. It is  necrophagous  (eats the flesh of dead or decaying animals) and is therefore called a  keratin beetle . Also called This new species belongs to the Trogidae group. With the discovery of this new species, now the total number of existing species of this group in India has increased to 14. Beetles in this group are sometimes called hide beetles because they hide and cover their bodies under the soil. They are not photogenic, are usually black or brown in color and are dirty. They can be identified by their rugged appearance, the appearance of short thick hairs all over the body.

25. Reserve Bank of India announces second global hackathon “Agdoot 2023”

Reserve Bank launches its second Global Hackathon with the theme  ‘ Inclusive Digital Services ‘ – ‘ Pioneer 2023  –  Innovation for Change’‘ announced. The registration for the hackathon will start from February 22, 2023. It had received 363 proposals submitted by teams from within India and from 22 other countries including the US, UK, Sweden, Singapore, Philippines and Israel. Fintechs are invited to develop solutions that have the potential to make digital financial services accessible to persons with disabilities, facilitate efficient compliance, expand the reach of central bank digital currencies, and enhance the scalability of blockchains. RBI said, being a part of “Pioneer 2023”, participants get an opportunity to get mentored by industry experts and showcase their innovative solutions before an eminent jury and win exciting prizes in each category.

26. RBI cancels registration of two entities for regulatory defaults

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  has said that it   has canceled the registration of Pune  -based  Kudos Finance & Investments  and  Mumbai-  based  Credit Gate . With the cancellation of Certificate of Registration (CoR), the two NBFCs should not carry on the business of any non-banking financial institution, the Reserve Bank said in a statement. The Certificate of Registration (CoR) of both the NBFCs has been canceled due to violation of RBI guidelines on Outsourcing and Fair Practices Code in their digital lending operations done through third party apps, which were deemed to be detrimental to public interest Was.

28. RCB appoints Sania Mirza to mentor women’s team in WPL

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza  has   been appointed as the mentor of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team  in  the Women’s Premier League . 29. Hyundai Motors India ropes in two more women cricketers as ambassadors

Hyundai Motor India Limited  has signed two more women cricketers namely Yastika Bhatia  and  Renuka Singh Thakur to  its   roster of  brand ambassadors . 30. FIFA confirms participation of USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026 World Cup

The FIFA World Cup 2026  will be hosted by three countries for the first time. 31. Tripartite MoU signed between Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NIPER Hyderabad and FSSAI to combat doping in sports

 Continuing the fight against  doping in sports , the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports , Government of India,  the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)  and  the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad (NIPER Hyderabad) have established nutritional supplement testing capacity  in India  . To create awareness, provide information and create awareness about the risks associated with the use of nutritional supplements, enhance research opportunities in clean sports and anti-doping domains, and provide safe and dope-free nutritional supplement options to sportspersons A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to This MoU will encourage best practices in marketing and distribution of nutritional supplements in India. 33. Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi passed away

Veteran actor Javed Khan Amrohi, who won hearts with his powerful performances in superhit films like  ‘ Chak De India ‘, ‘ Andaz Apna Apna ‘ and ‘ Lagaan ‘  , passed away. He was 70 years old. He died due to lung failure. Javed Khan Amrohi had worked in more than 150 films. Javed Khan also received the Best Supporting Actor Award for his brilliant role in the film ‘Lagaan’.
