1 First Grand Air Show of Eastern Command in Guwahati to mark the 93rd anniversary of the Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force (IAF) continued its 93rd anniversary celebrations with a captivating and thrilling air display over the majestic Brahmaputra River in Guwahati on November 9, 2025. The Honorable Governor of Assam , Shri Laxman Prasad Acharya, was the Chief Guest for the grand event. The aircraft will fly from seven air bases in the region: Guwahati, Tezpur, Jorhat, Chabua, Hasimara, Bagdogra, and Panagarh. The list of fighter aircraft will include Rafale, Sukhoi-30, Apache, MiG-29, IL-78 Refueller, Mirage, Jaguar, C-17 Globemaster, Mi-17, Advanced Light Helicopter-MK1, C-130 Hercules, Antonov An-32, and Surya Kiran aircraft. This year, the theme of the Air Force Day celebrations is “Surefire, Invulnerable, and Precision,” symbolizing the IAF’s focus on operational capability, flexibility, and precision.
2 President Draupadi Murmu held bilateral talks with President Joao Lourenço of Angola in Luanda

President Draupadi Murmu held extensive bilateral discussions with President João Lourenço of Angola in Luanda . The two countries also exchanged MoUs to enhance cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, marine resources, and consular matters . President Murmu welcomed Angola’s decision to join the International Big Cat Alliance and the Global Biofuel Alliance . The President reiterated India’s commitment to remain a reliable partner in Angola’s development journey, both bilaterally and within the broader framework of the India-Africa Forum Summit. The two leaders agreed to continue working together to enhance cooperation, including in energy partnership, infrastructure, defense, health, agriculture, and digital technologies. President Murmu is visiting Angola and Botswana from November 8 to 13. In Angola, she will attend the 50th anniversary celebrations of Angola’s independence on Tuesday. This is the first visit by an Indian head of state to these two African countries.
3 PM Modi launches NexCar19: India’s first homegrown car T-cell therapy

Marking a historic milestone in India’s healthcare and biotechnology sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched NexCAR19 — India’s first indigenous CAR T-cell therapy — in November 2025. This innovation marks India’s decisive step towards revolutionizing cancer treatment. It has been developed in collaboration with ImmunoACT (an IIT Bombay incubated startup), Tata Memorial Hospital , DBT (Department of Biotechnology), and BIRAC . NexCAR19 is an advanced CAR (Chimeric Antigen Receptor) T-cell therapy —in which a patient’s own T-cells are genetically modified to recognize and destroy cancer cells. It is specifically designed to treat B-cell blood cancers, such as leukemia and lymphoma .
4 Historic agreement signed for acquisition of Naini Saini Airport in presence of PM Modi

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Sunday between the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Uttarakhand government for the acquisition of Naini Saini Airport in Pithoragarh, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi . Naini Saini Airport covers an area of approximately 70 acres. Its terminal building is capable of handling 40 passengers during peak hours. The airport apron is equipped to accommodate two aircraft (Code 2B) at a time. This acquisition will upgrade the airport’s existing infrastructure, streamline operational standards, and significantly improve Uttarakhand’s regional connectivity. The development of Naini Saini Airport will provide a new impetus to the state’s local art, cultural heritage, and tourism sectors. It will also open up new opportunities in trade, pilgrimage tourism, education, healthcare, and hospitality, and create new employment opportunities for local youth. Prime Minister Modi arrived in Dehradun on Sunday to participate in the ” Uttarakhand Silver Jubilee Celebrations .” He released a special postage stamp to mark the occasion. He also announced several development projects worth over ₹8,000 crore for Uttarakhand. Of these, 19 projects costing ₹7,329.06 crore were laid the foundation stone. Twelve projects costing ₹931.65 crore were inaugurated.
5 Indian Navy’s INS Sahyadri participates in Malabar exercise in North Pacific

Indian Naval Ship INS Sahyadri is in Guam in the North Pacific to participate in the multilateral Exercise Malabar , in which the navies of India, the United States, Australia, and Japan are participating. The Ministry of Defence stated that INS Sahyadri’s participation in the Malabar exercise reaffirms India’s enduring partnership and collective resolve to strengthen coordination, enhance interoperability, and safeguard regional security. INS Sahyadri is indigenously designed and built. The port phase of the Malabar exercise will include operational planning, familiarization visits, and sports events between the participating nations. Following the port phase, ships and aircraft will participate in naval exercises focusing on joint fleet operations, anti-submarine warfare, gunnery ranges, and flight operations. The Indo-Sri Lankan armies will participate in the 11th edition of the annual military exercise Mitra Shakti from Monday to November 23 . The exercise will be conducted at the Foreign Training Centre (FTC) in Belagavi , Karnataka. The aim of the Mitra Shakti 2025 exercise is to enhance synergy between the two armies in conducting joint operations in urban and semi-urban areas.
6 Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025 gets Cabinet approval

In a major social initiative, the Assam Cabinet has approved the Assam Prohibition of Polygamy Bill, 2025. It aims to outlaw and eliminate the practice of polygamy throughout the state , except in Sixth Schedule areas . The bill prohibits any person from marrying a spouse who already has a living spouse and is not legally separated from, or whose previous marriage has not been dissolved by, a decree of divorce. The bill also provides for compensation to women affected by polygamy.
7 Karnataka becomes the first state in India to provide paid leave for menstruation

In a landmark move towards gender equality and workplace inclusion, the Karnataka government has approved 12 days of paid menstrual leave per year (1 day per month — a total of 12 days per year) for women . The policy will apply to both the government and private sectors, making the state the first in India to take such a comprehensive step.
8 A portion of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha was installed in Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan.

A fragment of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha brought from India has been installed at Tashichhodzong , the main monastery in Bhutan’s capital, Thimpu . The monastery is the seat of Bhutan’s highest spiritual and political institutions. The ceremony took place ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Bhutan beginning Tuesday . The Indian Embassy in Thimpu said in a social media post that the sacred relics of Lord Buddha were installed in the Grand Kuenre Hall of Tashichhodzong with a traditional Chipdrel procession, prayers, ceremonies, and a guard of honor. The Ministry of Culture said the relics will be on public display in Thimpu from November 8 to 18. These relics, known as the “Piparhwa Relics of Lord Buddha,” are housed in the National Museum in New Delhi. This is the second time these sacred relics have been sent from India to Bhutan.

Border Security Force (BSF) – Brave tracker dog Babita was awarded the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel RRU National K9 Gallantry Award 2025 for her exceptional courage, unwavering devotion, and distinguished service during a national function in Hyderabad . Babita was presented with a citation and a medal. Deployed in the Amritsar sector of Punjab, dog Babita played a key role in a major operation in September 2025. Her intelligence led troops to a suspicious house, leading to the arrest of three smugglers.
10 ISSF World Championships: India’s Anish Bhanwala wins silver medal in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event

In shooting , India’s Anish Bhanwala created history by winning the silver medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event at the ongoing ISSF World Championships in Cairo, Egypt . Anish shot 28 shots in the final. With this remarkable performance, Anish became the first Indian individual pistol shooter to win a World Championship medal in an Olympic event .
11 National Legal Services Day

November 9 is celebrated as National Legal Services Day to commemorate the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 , which led to the establishment of organizations providing free legal aid to the needy. Legal Services Authorities were established under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 to provide free and competent legal services to marginalized and disadvantaged sections of society. Since the Act came into force on November 9, 1995 , this day is celebrated annually as National Legal Services Day to commemorate its implementation. On this day, legal awareness camps are organized by State Legal Services Authorities across the country to promote the availability of free legal aid and other services provided by Legal Services Authorities.
