1. First State/UT in India to achieve 100% coverage of Andaman and Nicobar Precautionary Doses

Andaman and Nicobar Islands has become the first Union Territory in the country to achieve 100 per cent coverage of the precautionary dose of COVID vaccine . Till date, more than 2 lakh 87 thousand 2 hundred 16 beneficiaries of above 18 years age group in this island group have been given the precautionary dose of vaccine.

2. Maharashtra Tourism Ministry decides to rename Daulatabad Fort as Devgiri

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha said that the Maharashtra Tourism Department will propose to rename the Daulatabad Fort near Aurangabad city to its old name ‘ Devagiri ‘. According to historians, the name of the fort was changed to Daulatabad by Mohammad Tughlaq in the 14th century . This fort was built in 1187 by Yadav dynasty . It was built by and was known as Devagiri. When Muhammad Tughluq captured the throne of Delhi, he was so impressed by this fort that he decided to move his court and capital here and renamed it as Daulatabad ‘City of Fortune’. He ordered the entire population of Delhi to move collectively to the new capital. However, later the fort came to be known as Qubbatul Islam and coins were minted by this name. Located about 14 km from the city of Aurangabad, the fort is a National Heritage Monument and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Let us tell you that the previous Maharashtra government led by Uddhav Thackeray had proposed to change the name of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar. The current Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government added ‘Chhatrapati’ to the new name of Aurangabad.

4. National Logistics Policy approved

The Union Cabinet approved the National Logistics Policy . This policy was recently released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce logistics cost, ensure seamless movement of goods in the country. The policy aims to improve the country’s Logistics Performance Index ranking and place India among the top 25 countries by 2030. Under the policy, the focus will be on warehouse development, digitization and adoption of automation in the logistic value chain. The policy complements the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan. Micro, small and medium enterprises and farmers are expected to benefit the most from improved logistics efficiency.

5. PM Narendra Modi receives Braille version of Assamese language Hemkosh from Jayant Barua

Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents Braille version of Assamese language Hemkosh from Jayant Barua in New Delhi .Received. Shri Modi commended Jayant Barua and his colleagues for this effort. Hemkosh is one of the 19th century dictionary of Assamese language. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal were also present on the occasion. The Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi launched the Braille version of the Assamese language dictionary ‘Hemkosh’. The dictionary is published by the day-to-day group and will be given free of cost to the visually impaired people of the state. Hemkosh was first published by Hemchandra Barua in 1919. After that the next generations of Baruah’s family have issued new editions of the dictionary from time to time.

6. CRPF – Left Extremism The Director General of CRPF said – the old mountain in Jharkhand has been freed

Kuldeep Singh , Director General, Central Reserve Police Force – CRPF , said that the old hill in Jharkhand , which has been a stronghold of Maoists for three decades, has now been completely freed from them. Shri Singh said that since April this year, three campaigns are being conducted to set up camps of security forces in Budha Pahar area. Their names are Operation Octopus , Operation Double Bull and Operation Thunderstorm . Shri Singh said that CRPF is also conducting several operations in different states including Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.

7. Started training program for 14 thousand youth volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur launched a training program for 14,000 youth volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan . This program has been organized to enhance the potential of the youth. Initiating the program in New Delhi, Shri Thakur said that the trained volunteers would play an important role in achieving the goal of the Prime Minister’s Pancha Prana during his Independence Day speech.

8. Union Cabinet approves Production Linked Incentive Scheme for High Efficiency Solar PV Modules

The Union Cabinet has approved the Phase II of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme on High Efficiency Solar PV Modules . The approval has been given to achieve Giga Watt scale manufacturing capacity in high efficiency solar PV modules. The objective of this program is to create an ecosystem for manufacturing of high efficiency solar PV modules in the country. This decision will reduce the dependence on imports in the renewable energy sector. This will help strengthen the self-reliant India campaign and generate employment.

9. Defense Ministry signs MoU with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank to connect pensioners through over 14,000 bank branches across the country

Ministry of Defense has collaborated with Bank of Baroda and HDFC Bank under the SPARSH initiative of Pension Administration to cover seventeen lakh defense pensioners across the country.signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Defense Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar said that by the end of this month, out of the total thirty two lakh defense pensioners, seventeen lakh pensioners would be linked with SPARSH. He said that the remaining pensioners would soon be linked to this system. The Defense Secretary noted that the average time taken for disbursement of pensions has been reduced to around 16 days. The ministry has said that the MoU will cover more than 14,000 bank branches as service centers, to provide effective channels to pensioners for updating profiles, registering complaints and redressal, pensioner data verification and many more. 10. “No Bag Day” will start soon in Bihar schools

The Mahagathbandhan government of Bihar is going to introduce “ no-bag day ” rule in schools to reduce the burden on the students . The government will make at least one day a week no bag day. There will be work based practical classes in the weekly ‘No-Bag Day’. At least once a week, students will come to schools with only lunch boxes. They don’t need to carry books. The day will be devoted to learning practical and experiential things.

11. Indian Coast Guard inducts ship ‘Samarth’ into its fleet

The Indian Coast Guard inducted Samarth in its fleet . This 105 meter long patrol vessel will further strengthen the coastal security system. The Coast Guard said, it can attain a speed of 43 kmph in the sea. The ship is designed to carry a two-engined helicopter and four high-speed boats. The ship has modern surveillance systems and technology to prevent oil spills at sea. The ship is also equipped with Integrated Bridge Management System, Power Management System and Fire Fighting System.

With the unprecedented move of the Indian Army ‘s Fire and Fury Corps Siachen Signalers , now the world’s highest battlefield i.e. Siachen Glacier will also have internet facility . Siachen Signalers have activated satellite-based internet service on the Siachen Glacier (19,061 ft), the world’s highest battlefield. The Indian Army has collaborated with Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL) , a wholly state-owned broadband infrastructure provider. BBNL helps in providing internet services to the soldiers. The Siachen Glacier is of great importance to the Indian Army as it is a place of concern and a frequent target of attacks from both the enemy countries, China and Pakistan.

13. India, Egypt sign MoU to enhance defense cooperation in areas of mutual interest

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held extensive discussions with Egyptian Defense Minister General Mohamed Zaki and India and Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral defense cooperation . India and Egypt have signed an MoU to enhance defense cooperation and have decided to increase joint military exercises, training, co-production and maintenance of equipment.

14. President Draupadi Murmu approves appointment of new directors in eight IITs

President Draupadi Murmu has approved the appointment of directors of eight different IITs in the country. Union Ministry of EducationTold that after the approval from the President, now all these IITs will be able to get new directors. The IITs whose directors have been approved include IIT Goa, IIT Palakkad, IIT Tirupati, IIT Dharwad, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Bhilai and IIT Jammu. Significantly, the President of India is the visitor of all the IITs in the country. Therefore, the President also has the right to appoint directors here. Professor A Seshadri Shekhar has been appointed as the director for IIT Palakkad, while Professor KN Satyanarayana has been appointed as the director of IIT Tirupati and Professor Venkappaiah R Desai has been appointed as the director of IIT Dharwad. Last year, applications were invited for six new IITs, which will be located in Dharwad, Goa, Palakkad, Jammu, Bhilai and Tirupati.

15. Indian Navy decommissioned INS Ajay after 32 years of service

INS Ajay was decommissioned on 19 Sep 22 after rendering 32 years of illustrious service to the nation . The ceremony was traditionally held at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai , with the national flag, naval ensign and the ship’s decommissioning pennant being lowered for the last time at sunset, marking the end of the ship’s commissioning service. The Commissioning Commanding Officer, Vice Admiral AG Thapliyal (Retd), was the special guest at the decommissioning program of the warship ‘Ajay’. The ceremony was presided over by Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command. During the Kargil war , this warship carried out Operation Talwar and Operation Parakram in 2001. Including participated in several naval operations. Also participated in several naval operations of the Indian Navy. After the Uri attack in 2017, the ship was deployed to guard the maritime border.

18. Union Bank of India announces digitization of Kisan Credit Card

Union Bank of India and Federal Bank have started giving KCC to farmers in a digital way . These banks have started pilot projects. Under these pilot projects, farmers will not need to come to the bank for KCC. Banks are doing away with the requirement of physical documents like land records and personal appearance at the bank branch for obtaining KCC.
