  • India is ranked 9th in the list of top 10 countries for climate technology investment from 2016 to 2021, according to the Global Climate Tech Investment Trends report by London & Partners & Co. on Five Years: Since the Paris Agreement . Indian climate tech firms received USD 1 billion as venture capital (VC) during this period. The report analyzed trends in the climate sector since the 2016 United Nations Conference (COP) in Paris, France. The list is topped by the United States (US) with USD 48 billion, followed by China at USD 18.6 billion.

Membership of multilateral funding institutions is being leveraged to promote immunization of eligible population. Beijing- based Multilateral Development Bank- Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank-AIIB and Asian Development Bank-ADB tobuy anti-Covid vaccines to India for USD 2 billion under Vaccine Access Facilitation Scheme in Asia Pacific Regionwill give loan. AIIB Vice-Chairman Dr DJ Pandian told in Beijing that the bank is looking at providing USD 5 trillion, while the Manila-based Asian Development Bank can provide USD 1 billion. India made the request three months ago. According to the information available on the bank’s website, six thousand six hundred 70 lakh vaccines can be purchased through this loan.

  • NITI Aayog has released a comprehensive report titled Health Insurance for India’s Missing Middle which provides solutions to this problem while highlighting the disruptions faced by the Indian population in universal health insurance coverage. The report wasreleased in the presence of NITI AayogCEO Amitabh Kant and Additional Secretary Dr Rakesh Sarwal. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said that this report is an attempt to increase financial security for health and take forward the conversation on the broader goal of universal health coverage. He said that this present scenario, while outlining the existing interventions, also clarifies broad recommendations and avenues to increase health insurance coverage.

  1. DRDO and Indian Air Force jointly test-fire indigenously made long-range bomb
  • The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) jointly test- fired an indigenously developed Long-Range Bomb (LRB) from an aerial platform on October 29, 2021 . After being fired from an IAF fighter aircraft, the LR bomb was directed to land-based targets at long ranges with accuracy within specified ranges. All the objectives of this mission were successfully accomplished. The flight and performance of the bomb was monitored by a number of range sensors, including Electro Optical Tracking System (EOTS), telemetry and radar, deployed by the Integrated Test Range in Orissa, Chandipur. The LR bomb has been designed and developed by the Hyderabad-based DRDO Laboratory, Research Center Imaran, in coordination with other DRDO laboratories.
