3.World Health Organization said outbreak of monkeypox unusual and worrying

Monkeypox virus has spread to 29 countries so far . With this , more than 1000 cases have been reported. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning in view of the increasing threat of the virus. It is a viral zoonotic disease (a disease transmitted from animals to humans) and is recognized as a disease similar to smallpox in monkeys , hence the name monkeypox. this nigeriais an endemic disease. Animals that have been identified as sources of monkeypox virus include monkeys and apes, a variety of rodents (including rats, squirrels and prairie dogs) and rabbits. The disease is caused by the monkeypox virus, which is a member of the Orthopoxvirus genus in the Poxviridae family. Infection with monkeypox was first discovered in 1958 after two outbreaks of a smallpox-like disease in research groups of monkeys named ‘monkeypox’. The first human transmission case was reported in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) during a vigorous effort to eradicate smallpox. The incubation period (the time from infection to symptoms) for monkeypox is usually 7–14 days but this period can also be as long as 5–21 days.

4.Joint military exercise ‘Sampriti’ between India and Bangladesh with focus on UN peacekeeping operations concluded in Bangladesh

17.Government approves additional central assistance of Rs 1,43 crore under National Disaster Response Fund for Rajasthan and Nagaland

The Central Government has approved additional central assistance of Rs. one thousand 43 crores under the National Disaster Response Fund for Rajasthan and Nagaland . Both these states were affected by floods during 2021-22. A high-level committee chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah has approved an amount of about one thousand four crore rupees for Rajasthan and more than Rs 39 crore for Nagaland. This assistance is in addition to the amount released from the Center to the states in the State Disaster Response Fund. The Central Government released 17 thousand seven hundred 47 crore rupees to the State Disaster Response Fund of 28 states during 2021-22. Seven thousand 342 crore rupees have been released to 11 states from the National Disaster Response Fund.
