1 Government approves one lakh crore rupees for the world’s largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector

The Union Cabinet   has approved a  Rs 1 lakh crore scheme  to increase  the grain storage capacity in the cooperative sector . An inter-ministerial committee  has been approved  for  setting up the world’s largest grain storage plan . It is  administered by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. will be implemented by convergence of To ensure that the scheme is implemented in a professional and time-bound manner, the Ministry of Cooperation will implement the project on a pilot basis in at least ten districts of different States and Union Territories. This will give an idea about the various regional requirements of the project, so that it can be implemented in a proper manner across the country. The cabinet also approved the second phase of Urban Investment for Innovation, Integration and Sustainability for Integrated Urban Management. The program of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is being implemented in partnership with the Creditonstalt für Wiederaufbau, a French development agency, the European Union and the National Institute of Urban Affairs. This program will be for four years from 2023 to 2027. Integrated waste management at the urban level in the programme,

2 Union Cabinet approves setting up of Universal Postal Union Regional Office at New Delhi

The Union Cabinet   in  New Delhi has approved the Universal Postal Union – U.P.U.  Approval has been given to set up the regional office  of Its purpose is U.P.U. to undertake technical assistance activities and cooperation in its development in the region. This will enable India to play an active role in multilateral organizations in the postal sector with emphasis on South-South and triangular cooperation. India, U.P.U. Will provide a field project specialist, staff and necessary facilities to the regional office of the This initiative will help to expand India’s diplomatic presence and strengthen ties with other countries – especially in the Asia-Pacific region and enhance India’s presence in global postal fora.

3 Government launches electronics repair service outsourcing

The government   launched a pilot project on outsourcing electronics repair services . The project   is jointly developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information TechnologyMinistry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and other important stakeholders. This project will help in making the country the world’s most important information technology support center. Electronics repair service outsourcing industry  to  generate USD 20 billion revenue  for India in  next  5 years likely to meet. This will also create lakhs of employment opportunities. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that the project has been identified as a game changer for India and has been supported by the government to make India a world leader in a new sector. This three-month pilot project is being started in Bengaluru. Five companies namely Flex, Lenovo, CTDI, R-Logic and EforReserve have agreed to support the pilot project.

4 Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district to be renamed ‘Ahilyadevi Nagar’, announced Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Maharashtra  Chief Minister  Eknath Shinde  has announced that  the name of Ahmednagar  district will be changed to ‘ Ahilyadevi Nagar ‘. He   was speaking on the occasion of the 298th birth anniversary  of  Ahilyabai Holkar . Ahilyabai Holkar was born on 31 May 1725 in Chaundi village of Ahmednagar district.

5 Energy Minister Rajkumar Singh reviewed the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project of 2000 MW capacity located in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam

Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister  Rajkumar Singh  has   expressed satisfaction over the progress of 2000 MW  Subansiri  Lower Hydroelectric Project  located in  Arunachal Pradesh  and  Assam . After a review meeting of the project in New Delhi, he directed the National Hydroelectric Corporation to pay due attention to the safety measures related to the project. The project is being constructed by the National Hydroelectric Corporation Limited. The first unit of the project with a capacity of 250 MW is expected to be commissioned by December this year or January next year.

7 Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare organized a national workshop on Per Drop More Crop

 The Department  of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare  organized a national workshop  on   the theme ‘  Per Drop More Crop’ in New Delhi . In this, discussions were held with various stakeholders to increase the reach of micro-irrigation. The workshop was attended by representatives from various Ministries and Departments of the Central Government, States and Union Territories, irrigation industry, startups working in the water management sector, and Farmer Producer Organisations. During the workshop, five best Gram Panchayats from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu were awarded for adoption of micro irrigation program and best practices in water management sector.

 Prime Minister of  Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda  arrived in New Delhi on a four-day official visit to India.  He was received by Minister of State for External Affairs  Meenakshi Lekhi . This is the first bilateral foreign visit of the Prime Minister of Nepal after assuming office in December last year.

9 Israeli Navy successfully tests C-Dome defense system

Israeli Army  Naval  C-Dome has been successfully tested. Its purpose is to protect Israel’s interests in the sea. The Israeli military announced on Monday that it has successfully completed a series of tests on its Saar 6 Magen naval vessel designed to protect natural gas infrastructure at sea. The test was conducted by Israel’s government defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. Iron Dome is one of the most powerful air defense systems in the world. It is mainly used in rockets, Used to shoot down missiles and mortars. This is the naval variant of the Iron Dome. The C-Dome has been developed from Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. Iron Dome is a mobile all-weather air defense system developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries. The system is designed to intercept and destroy short-range rockets and artillery shells fired from a distance of 4 km to 70 km. From 2011 to 2021, the US has contributed a total of $1.6 billion to the Iron Dome defense system.

10 Cabinet approves City Investments from 2023 to 2027 to innovate, integrate and sustain 2.0 (Cities 2.0)

 The Union Cabinet chaired by the  Prime Minister  Shri Narendra Modi  has approved City Investment to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (Cities 2.0). Concept of Cities 2.0 programme; French Development Agency (AFD)Creditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW)European Union (EU)  and  National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA)  by  the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) Done in partnership with. The program will continue for a period of four years, i.e. from 2023 to 2027. The program includes integrated waste management at the city level; It is envisaged to support competitively selected projects to promote the circular economy with a special focus on climate-oriented reform actions at the state level and institutional strengthening and knowledge dissemination at the national level. Cities 2.0 funding will include a loan of Rs 1760 crore (EUR 200 million) from AFD and KfW (EUR 100 million each) and a technical assistance grant of Rs 106 crore (EUR 12 million) from the EU. Cities 2.0 aims to build on and expand upon the experiences and successes of Cities 1.0.

11 Telangana achieved 100% coverage of PMJDY

Telangana State  has  achieved a significant milestone in financial inclusion by achieving 100% coverage   of  Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) . Since the launch of this National Mission, the State has made remarkable progress in extending banking services to all sections of the population. Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)   was launched by Narendra Modi on 28 August 2014 . It is a national mission aimed at providing access to various financial services including remittance, credit, insurance, pension, banking savings and deposit accounts. Economical way. 12 Global Wealth Conference will be organized in London

13 Shri Ajay Yadav has been appointed as the Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).

Shri Ajay Yadav, a  2005   batch IAS officer of  Bihar cadre,  has assumed charge as the Managing Director of Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) . Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) is a Mini-Ratna Category Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSU), incorporated in the year 2011. SECI is the primary implementing agency of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, for meeting India’s international commitments on renewable energy plans/projects.

14 Mukesh Ambani joined the Advisory Committee of COP28

Reliance Industries Limited  Chairman  Mukesh Ambani  has   been named as a member of the International Advisory Committee . Ambani will now   guide and advise the president in the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) . Ambani is promoting renewable energy under Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and diversifying from its traditional crude oil refining and petrochemicals businesses. He is one of the 31 international experts on the committee.

15 Indian Bank joins ICCL as Clearing and Settlement Bank

Indian Bank  announced that it  has been selected  by  the Indian Clearing Corporation Limited (ICCL)  as the Clearing and Settlement Bank . Consequently, this public sector bank   is now authorized to provide banking services to members of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) for clearing and settlement operations.

16 India’s GDP growth estimated to be 7.1% in FY2023: SBI report

 According to a report by  the State Bank of India (SBI), the Indian economy   is on track to cross 7 per cent growth rate in FY2023 .   State Bank of India’s ongoing research report Ecowrap states that India’s growth rate is likely to be 5.5 per cent in the fourth quarter of FY23, taking the country’s growth rate to 7.1 per cent for FY23. 

17 RBI fine against Central Bank of India

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has  announced a penalty of Rs 84.50 lakh on the Central Bank of India  for failure to comply with certain provisions relating to fraud classification and reporting. The penalty was imposed after a statutory inspection revealed that the bank had reported the fraudulent accounts within a specified time limit. Additionally, the bank had also charged customers a flat SMS alert fee instead of charging them on actual usage.

18 Government approves digital communication framework between banks and CEIB

The government has   approved a new digital reporting and communication system  to address  loan defaults  above  Rs 50 crore . Instead of relying on paper-based communication, the central government has introduced a digital mechanism. Under this system,  the Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB)  will send digital reports to public sector banks within 15 days  of the loan request at the pre-approval stage  . These reports will provide information on borrowers with loans of Rs 50 crore or more and their default status. At present, it is mandatory for state-owned banks to obtain a report from the CEIB regarding loan applicants with an amount above Rs 50 crore and any outstanding defaults.

19 World No Tobacco Day

World No Tobacco  Day is observed every year  on  31 May  to raise awareness about the  harmful and deadly effects of tobacco  use  and this year’s theme is ” Grow food, not tobacco”. The initiative of World No Tobacco Day was adopted by the WHO in 1987. The day also draws attention to the more than 8 million deaths caused by tobacco.

20 Sanskrit scholar Ved Kumari Ghai passed away

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  condoled the demise of  veteran Sanskrit scholar and Padma Shri awardee  Ved Kumari Ghai and said that her immense contribution has enriched the country’s cultural heritage. Born in Jammu on December 16, 1931, Ved Kumari Ghai was a Sanskrit scholar and Padma Shri awardee. Ghai died at the age of 92 in Jammu. She was unwell for some time. Ghai, associated with the education sector since 1953, has been the Dean and Head of the Department of Sanskrit in the University of Jammu. She was also associated with many universities of the country including Banaras Hindu University, Himachal University, Punjab University.
