1 Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat given additional charge of Maharashtra

President Draupadi Murmu has given additional charge of Governor of Maharashtra to Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat . He will perform this responsibility along with his current post. This decision has been taken after Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan left the post due to being elected Vice President. Before serving as the Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat has also been the Governor of Himachal Pradesh from August 2015 to July 2019. He started working as the Governor of Gujarat from July 2019.
2 Agreement worth Rs 5660 crore between India and Mauritius

Taking the strategic relations between India and Mauritius to new heights, on Thursday both the countries have announced a major development package of more than Rs 5660 crore. These agreements were made during the visit of Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam to India. This visit will run from 9 to 16 September and it is being considered a milestone in India-Mauritius relations. Before the joint press conference between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Ramgoolam (Modi Ramgoolam Agreement) in Varanasi, both the leaders discussed bilateral (India-Mauritius Strategic Partnership), regional and global issues in detail. After this, a total of 7 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed in areas like science and technology, oceanography, energy, space, education, administration and water resources. The most important agreement among these (India-Mauritius Economic Agreement) was related to space cooperation, under which telemetry, tracking and communication stations will be built in Mauritius. Apart from this, India has also expressed commitment regarding marine research and hydrographic survey.
3 Rajnath Singh launched ‘Samudra Pradakshana’ campaign from Mumbai

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday flagged off the ‘ Samudra Pradakshana ‘ expedition from the Gateway of India in Mumbai through video conferencing. This is the world’s first such sailing circumambulation , which includes only women officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force . The Defence Minister said that this expedition is a symbol of women power, unity of the three forces, self-reliant India and India’s global thinking. This expedition will be of 9 months , in which 10 women officers will cover a distance of about 26,000 nautical miles on the 50 feet long Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni built by the Indian Army . This team will leave from the eastern route and cross the equator twice. At the same time, it will pass through the three largest capes of the world, Leeuwin, Horn and Good Hope. It will also cross difficult water currents like the Southern Ocean and Drake Passage. During this time, the team will also stop at four international ports Fremantle (Australia), Littleton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Canada) and Cape Town (South Africa). The expedition will return to Mumbai in May 2026. The 10-member team is led by Lieutenant Colonel Anuja Varudkar with Squadron Leader Shraddha P Raju in the key support role. Other members include Major Karamjit Kaur, Major Omita Dalvi, Captain Prajakta P Nikam, Captain Dauli Butola, Lieutenant Commander Priyanka Gusain, Wing Commander Vibha Singh, Squadron Leader Aruvi Jayaram and Squadron Leader Vaishali Bhandari.

5 132nd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago speech

Today is the 132nd anniversary of Swami Vivekananda ‘s historic speech at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893 , which is celebrated as ‘ Digvijay Diwas ‘ and ‘ World Brotherhood Day ‘. This speech given by Swami Vivekananda in Chicago on 11 September 1893 is considered a historic moment. Emphasizing harmony and world brotherhood, he passionately described the ideals of Indian culture on the world stage. On this occasion, India’s top leaders remembered Swami Vivekananda’s contribution on social media and called his message inspirational.
6 ‘Gyan Bharatam Conference 2025’ dedicated to preservation, digitization and promotion of India’s manuscript heritage

The Ministry of Culture is organizing the first Gyan Bharatam International Conference on “ Recovery of India’s Knowledge Heritage through Manuscript Heritage ” from 11th to 13th September 2025 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi . The conference will be attended by over 1,100 participants including scholars, experts, institutions and cultural practitioners from India and abroad. As part of the International Conference on “Recovery of India’s Knowledge Heritage through Manuscript Heritage”, the Ministry of Culture has launched Gyan-Setu, a National AI Innovation Challenge under Gyan Bharatam Mission. The initiative reflects the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to empower youth and innovators to use technology to protect heritage. With over 10 million manuscripts spanning subjects from philosophy and medicine to governance and arts, the challenge aims to use AI to make this heritage more accessible and meaningful to the world.
7 Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveler Programme at airports through video conference

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday launched the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveler Program (FTI–TTP) at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode and Amritsar airports through video conferencing . With this facility , passengers will get immigration clearance in just 30 seconds, giving relief from long queues and manual checks. This program is for both Indian citizens and OCI cardholders. Passengers can go to the [https://ftittp.mha.gov.in] portal and upload the required documents and get biometric verification done. On scanning the passport and boarding pass at the e-Gates at the airport , the system immediately performs biometric authentication and easily gets immigration clearance. Let us tell you that FTI-TTP was started from Delhi Airport in 2024 and later implemented in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kochi and Ahmedabad. Now after the addition of five more airports, this facility is available at 13 airports.
8 INS Aravali: New hub of maritime security and IT cooperation

The Navy will induct INS Aravali into its fleet in Gurugram . This is an important step towards protecting the country’s maritime borders. The Defense Ministry said in a statement that INS Aravali, named after the Aravalli mountain range, is designed to strengthen the Navy’s information and communication system . It will assist information and communication centers in the field of control and maritime security. The ceremony will be presided over by Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi.
9 IIM Ahmedabad’s first international campus in Dubai

Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum along with Education Minister of India Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the first international campus of Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad at Dubai International Academic City . Ambassador of India to UAE Sanjay Sudhir and Consul General of India to Dubai Satish Kumar Sivan attended the event along with officials of IIMA. Sheikh Hamdan welcomed IIMA to Dubai. He said that the arrival of IIMA in Dubai is a symbol of deepening UAE-India cooperation. This move is in line with Dubai’s ambition to become a leading global hub of education and talent. The Dubai campus will be developed in two phases. By 2029, a permanent campus will be established on the land allocated for the institute.

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been sentenced to more than 27 years in prison for plotting a military coup and trying to destroy democracy in the country . Brazil ‘s Supreme Court has said that Bolsonaro, who was elected president in 2018, is guilty of trying to forcibly hold on to power after losing the 2022 election. According to the sentence, Bolsonaro’s crimes include plotting a coup and attempting to destroy Brazil’s democracy.
11 16-member Indian team announced for the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup

India has announced its 16-member team for the first-ever Women’s T20 World Cup for the Blind . This team has been selected after talent search, rigorous training and selection camps of 56 players from across the country. This historic tournament will be held from 11 to 25 November , in which teams from Australia, England, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and America will participate. A total of 21 league matches, two semi-finals and a final will be played in the tournament. The World Cup will be played in New Delhi and Bengaluru under the hosting of India . Earlier Kathmandu was also selected as the third host city and Pakistan’s matches were to be held here, but in view of the current situation in Nepal, the organizers are now considering an alternative venue. The responsibility of this event has been taken by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), the cricket branch of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. This effort of the organization reflects India’s leadership in providing equal opportunities and platform to disabled players, especially women.
