1.The Delimitation Commission has placed 43 in Jammu and 47 in Kashmir region out of 90 assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Delimitation Commission , headed by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai (Retired Judge of the Supreme Court) , whose ex-officio members are Mr. Sushil Chandra (Chief Election Commissioner) and Mr. KK Sharma (State Election Commissioner, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir), is constituted by the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was held to finalize the delimitation order for the state of Jammu and Kashmir . Keeping in view the provisions of section 9(1)(a) of the Delimitation Act, 2002 and section 60(2)(b) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, 43 of the 90 assembly constituencies of the region shall be part of the Jammu region. and 47 Kashmir regionwill be under After consultations with Associate Members, representatives of political parties, citizens, civil society groups, nine assembly constituencies have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Of these, six are in the Jammu region and three in the Kashmir Valley. The last delimitation of assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir was in 1995 , on the basis of the 1981 census.it was done. There are five parliamentary constituencies in this region. The Delimitation Commission has kept the Jammu and Kashmir region as a single union territory. Therefore, one parliamentary constituency has been created by merging Anantnag region in the Valley and Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region. With this reorganization, each parliamentary constituency will have an equal number of 18 assembly constituencies. The names of some assembly constituencies have also been changed keeping in mind the demand of local representatives. Under the chairmanship of retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai and Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commissioner K K Sharma, the Commission met in New Delhi and finalized the delimitation order. A gazette notification has also been published for this. The commission was constituted in March 2020 for the purpose of delimitation of assembly and parliamentary constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir.
