1 IANS Agraya, IANS Doonagiri and IANS Sanshodhaak inducted into Indian Navy
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched three indigenously designed and built naval ships – the advanced stealth frigate INS Dunagiri , the survey vessel (large) INS Sanshodhak , and the anti-submarine shallow water vessel INS Agray – at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata , West Bengal. All three ships were designed by the Indian Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata . The construction involved extensive participation from Indian industry, including over 200 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). With over 75 percent indigenous content, these ships are a testament to India’s commitment to self-reliance. INS Dunagiri is the fifth stealth frigate warship of Project 17A. Captain Divya Alok, the ship’s Commanding Officer (Designate), stated that Dunagiri will be part of the Eastern Naval Command and the Eastern Fleet. The Indian Navy currently has approximately 140 to 145 active warships. INS Sanshodhan is the fourth ship in the Survey Vessel (Large) series. INS Sanshodhan is tasked with ocean surveying. INS Agray is the fourth Arnala-class anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft. It is equipped with lightweight torpedoes, indigenous rocket launchers, and advanced sonar systems. June 21 is also celebrated globally as World Hydrography Day.

Shri Modi participated in the ‘ Shared Yoga Niyam ‘ session with thousands of yoga practitioners. Extending his greetings to people across the world on the occasion of International Yoga Day, Shri Modi said that June 21st is the longest day of the year in many parts of the world and has also emerged as one of the largest mass celebrations of humanity through yoga.
In June 2026, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) launched two new portals – the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) and the Money Restoration Module (MRM) . These portals aim to improve direct coordination between police forces, banking networks, and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). This information was revealed during a high-level review meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to review the functioning of the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930. The GRM module was launched to address complaints from account holders whose bank accounts have been frozen, lien, or placed on hold due to suspicious transactions during cybercrime investigations. The MRM portal is designed to provide a convenient way for victims of cyber financial fraud to file a complaint and recover their frozen or recovered funds.
In June 2026 , the Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a USD 10 million financing package with Schoolnet India Limited (SIL) to improve learning outcomes in government schools across the country . The initiative aims to expand digital learning infrastructure in 30,000 government schools , directly benefiting 45 million students. This investment focuses on both hardware and human capital. Under the project, computer labs will be built in at least 1,000 government schools. The program will also create 58,000 digital classrooms and train at least 56,000 teachers in digital teaching. The funding structure includes a USD 5 million loan from LEAP 2 (Leading Asia’s Private Infrastructure Fund). The fund is managed by ADB and funded by a US$1.5 billion commitment from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
On June 20 , the Government of India appointed senior Indian Foreign Office officer Vishwas Vidu Sapkal as India’s next Ambassador to the Republic of Slovakia . Vishwas was appointed Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs in 2022. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced his appointment. From 1998 to 2010, Vishwas held various positions in the Ministry of External Affairs. He was posted in India’s missions in Russia (Moscow), Armenia (Yerevan), and Chicago. From 2016 to 2019, Vishwas was appointed India’s High Commissioner to Fiji, and was also accredited representative to the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Recently, PM Modi visited Slovakia from June 14 to 16. This is a landlocked country located in Central Europe.
India has won the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup 2025-26 title. The Indian team won the title against hosts New Zealand 2-0 in the title match played in Auckland on Sunday. Navneet Kaur scored the first goal for India in the fourth minute of the match, followed by Sunilita Toppo (15th minute) . The team displayed excellent defensive play to secure the victory and the title, also securing their place in next season’s FIH Hockey Women’s Pro League. Lalremsiami received the Player of the Match award in the final, while Deepika was the tournament’s top scorer with six goals; she shared this honor with Ashley Sessa of the USA. This is India’s second Nations Cup victory. They previously won the inaugural tournament in 2022. India remained unbeaten in the event, defeating the USA (3-2), Japan (2-1), and Uruguay (3-2) in Pool A. They then defeated Chile 6-0 in the semifinals. In the final, they produced a dominant performance, defeating New Zealand 2-0 to win the title.
On June 21st , athlete Neeraj Chopra was named the Best Male Athlete of the Year 2025 at the Indian Athletics Awards . Neeraj arrived in New Delhi on Saturday directly for the Indian Athletics Awards ceremony after participating in the Doha Diamond League on Friday night . Neeraj set a junior national record by winning the gold medal at the 2012 National Junior Athletics Championships. In 2025, he became the first Indian to break the 90-meter mark with a throw of 90.23 meters at the Doha Diamond League. The Best Athlete of the Year 2025 award for women went to 3000 meter steeplechase national record holder Parul Chaudhary . Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President P.T. Usha was given the Lifetime Achievement Award. Former Asian Games gold medalist Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, shot put legend Bahadur Singh Chauhan, and long jumper Anju Bobby George were also honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. The awards, instituted by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), were held in New Delhi.
