The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully completed a major coastal security exercise, Sagar Kavach-02/25, off the coast of Maharashtra and Goa from November 19-20, 2025. It demonstrated excellent inter-agency coordination, robust operational preparedness, and a robust capability to address maritime security challenges, including threats posed by anti-national elements (ANE) targeting vital coastal assets. Over 6,000 personnel, over 115 maritime and air assets, and various central and state agencies, ports, and coastal authorities participated in the two-day exercise. The exercise aimed to assess the preparedness of all participating agencies to respond to coastal security emergencies, prevent attacks on vital coastal locations, and further strengthen the multi-layered coastal security network.
