1 India bans jute imports from Bangladesh through land and sea ports

India  has banned the import of certain jute products and woven fabrics  from  Bangladesh through the land route  . However,  the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT)  said in a notification that this  is allowed only through the Nhava Sheva port  . On May 17, India imposed port restrictions on the import of certain items such as readymade garments and processed food items from Bangladesh. The products under these restrictions include jute products, single flax yarn, single yarn of jute, woven fabrics or unbleached woven fabrics of flax and jute. The move is aimed at protecting the Indian jute industry from losses caused by cheap and subsidized imported jute.

2 Nirmala Sitharaman will participate in the United Nations’ fourth international conference on financing

Union Finance Minister  Nirmala Sitharaman will lead the Indian delegation of Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance on an official visit to   Spain, Portugal and Brazil   from June 30  to July 5. In  Seville, Spain,  the Union Finance Minister will participate in the UN Fourth International Conference on  Financing for Development  (FfD4)  and deliver a statement on behalf of India. The theme of the summit is “ From FfD4 Outcome to Implementation: Harnessing the Potential of Private Capital for Sustainable Growth ”. During FfD4, Sitharaman will meet senior ministers of Germany, Peru and New Zealand and the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB).   In  Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ,  Finance Minister Sitharaman, on behalf of India at  the New Development Bank (NDB), will address the 10th Annual Meeting of the NDB . She will also participate in the BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (FMCBG).

3 Startup accelerator platform Wavex invites startups to develop AI – powered real – time multilingual translation solution – ‘BhashaSetu’

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched  the Wavex Startup Challenge 2025  under   its flagship startup accelerator program,  Wavex  . The challenge  invites startups from across the country to participate in a national hackathon to develop AI-powered multilingual translation solutions . Titled ‘ Bhasha Setu-Real-Time Language Tech for Bharat ‘, the challenge aims to encourage the development of innovative AI tools capable of real-time translation, transliteration and voice localization in at least 12 major Indian languages. The initiative aims to promote inclusive, accessible and emotionally aware communication technologies.

4 Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports signs MoU with Digital India Corporation to develop MY Bharat 2.0 platform

In a major step towards strengthening digital engagement with the youth of the country,  the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports  signed  a Memorandum of Understanding with Digital India Corporation  of   the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (DIC)  for the development of MY Bharat 2.0 platform  in  New Delhi  . The upgraded National Youth Platform will leverage technology-driven solutions to empower and connect youth across the country. Following the signing of the MoU, the MY Bharat platform will now undergo a comprehensive upgrade to evolve into MY Bharat 2.0. This upgraded version will introduce new features aimed at improving user experience, accessibility, and functionality. The platform will be completely rebuilt using a modular architecture approach to ensure scalability and flexibility. In addition, a fully functional mobile application will be developed for both Android and iOS. Supporting functions such as a dedicated call center, training modules, cloud services, MIC (management information system), and communication tools including email and SMS services will be set up to strengthen the backend infrastructure of the platform.

5 Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation launched GOISTATS mobile app for quick access to official statistical data

National Sample Survey Office (NSO), under  the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI)   launched  the GOISTATS Mobile Application in  New Delhi  on  Statistics Day 2025.   This initiative  is a major milestone towards India’s commitment to make official statistics accessible and user-centric for all citizens  . GOISTATS Mobile Application represents National Sample Survey Office’s (NSO) vision to create an all-encompassing data ecosystem where every stakeholder can seamlessly access official data on the go. The application has an interactive “Key Trends” dashboard that displays key socio-economic indicators including Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Inflation and Employment data with a dynamic experience at scale.

6 Rear Admiral V. Ganapathy takes over as Commandant of Institute of Military Technology

Senior Indian Navy  officer and distinguished Flag Officer  Rear Admiral V. Ganapathy  has taken over as Commandant of the Institute of Military Technology. Under the new responsibility, he   will lead the mission to prepare Army, Navy and Air Force officers in cutting-edge military technologies.

7 Maharashtra government withdrew three language policy

The Maharashtra government  has  withdrawn the three-language policy for schools  . In a press conference in Mumbai on the eve of the monsoon session of the state legislature, Chief Minister  Devendra Fadnavis  said that the state cabinet has decided to withdraw two government orders implementing the three-language policy. He  also announced the formation of a committee headed by educationist Narendra Jadhav  to suggest solutions in the matter. Mr Fadnavis said that former Chief Minister of the state Uddhav Thackeray had accepted the recommendations of Dr Raghunath Mashelkar Committee to implement the three-language policy from class one to 12   and formed a separate committee for policy implementation.

8 ‘Developed Delhi Chief Minister Internship Programme’ launched

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched  the  ‘ Vikasit Delhi Chief Minister Internship Program ‘. Under this program , the youth of Delhi will get an opportunity to work with the Delhi government  . This internship will introduce the youth to the challenges of governance and give them a platform to develop solution-oriented thinking. Under the internship program, 150 youth will be selected, who will work directly with various departments, senior officials and ground projects of the Delhi government for three months.

9 Now you can make UPI payment in post office also

The Department of Posts  has announced that   all  post offices in India will accept digital payments over the counter by August 2025. This transformation  is being made possible through a powerful technological upgrade called IT 2.0  , which will make payments more secure and consumer-friendly through dynamic QR codes linked to UPI. This is based on the success of the pilot project conducted in Mysore and Bagalkot districts of Karnataka, which proved the effectiveness and scalability of the system.

10 Centre unveils model rules to ease agroforestry regulation and boost rural economy

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC)  released  the  “ Model Rules for Felling of Trees in Agricultural Land ” on 29 June 2025. This initiative  is an important step towards promoting sustainable agriculture, livelihood promotion, and agroforestry.  Along with this, the ministry  also announced  the upcoming  National Timber Management System (NTMS) portal , which will digitally simplify the tree felling approval process  . Agroforestry improves soil fertility, water conservation, biodiversity and climate resilience. But, farmers had to face excessive bureaucracy in getting felling permission after planting trees. This discouraged farmers and they avoided planting trees in agriculture.

11 ESIC relaunches SPREE to enhance compliance and launches Amnesty Scheme 2025

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)  has   announced the re-launch of the SPREE scheme (Scheme to Promote Registration of Employers/Employees) from July 1  to  December 31, 2025. Also, a one-time dispute resolution scheme called “ Amnesty Scheme – 2025 ” will be implemented from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026. The decision aims to promote voluntary compliance, resolve legal disputes, and bring more workers under the ambit of social security. The announcements were made during the 196th meeting of the ESIC held in Shimla, chaired by Union Minister of Labor and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya. It prioritized policy decisions as well as expansion of health services, integration of traditional medicine system, and worker welfare.

12 G7 nations agree to exempt US companies from global minimum tax

 On  June 28, 2025, the G7 countries  issued a joint statement  agreeing to exempt US multinationals from the 15% global minimum tax regime  . The decision came after a G7 meeting chaired by Canada. The exemption is based on the initiative of the government led by former US President Donald Trump and represents a major departure from the global tax agreement established by the OECD in 2021. Now US multinationals will be taxed only in the US, not in the countries where they do business.

13 Adani Green crosses 15,000 MW renewable energy capacity

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL)  has   achieved  over 15 gigawatts (GW) of installed renewable energy capacity by June 2025. With a total operational capacity of 15,539.9 megawatts (MW), AGEL has not only become  India’s largest renewable energy company  but also among the top 10 independent power producers in the world  . This achievement signals India’s rapid progress in green energy and is a significant milestone towards Adani Group’s target of 50 GW by 2030.

14 days of mourning

Hul Diwas  is celebrated   every year  on 30 June . This day is celebrated in memory of the Santhal Hul rebellion of 1855  , which was one of the first major tribal rebellions of India’s freedom struggle. In   1855  , two Santhal brothers  in Jharkhand  (now  Santhal Pargana region )  raised a big mass rebellion  against the exploitation of British rule, landlords and moneylenders  . This movement is called “Hul Vidroh”. In Santhali language  “Hul” means rebellion or revolt . Thousands of Santhal tribals joined this rebellion and took up arms against the British government.  Under the leadership of Sidhu and Kanhu Murmu  along with  their sisters Phoolon and Jhano  , the Santhals inspired a large number of tribal youth in the fight against injustice and for their rights. While this rebellion was ultimately suppressed. For this reason,  the Santhal Pargana Tenancy Act of 1876 and the Chotanagpur Tenancy Act of 1908 came into force  . Its objective was to protect tribal land rights and cultural autonomy.

The International Day of Parliamentarism  is celebrated   every year  on June 30 , the day the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)  was founded in 1889. The day was established in 2018 through a United Nations General Assembly resolution.
