1 India imposes anti-dumping duty of up to $986 per tonne on water treatment chemicals from China and Japan

India has  imposed anti-dumping duty of up to USD 986 per tonne for five years  on  water treatment chemicals imported from China and Japan  . The move has been taken to protect the domestic industry from cheap imports. The Finance Ministry said in its notification that the decision was taken following the recommendations of the Directorate General of Trade Remedies, the investigation arm of the Commerce Ministry, to impose the duty on ‘trichloro isocyanuric acid’.

3 NSE Clearing Limited gets highest credit rating from CRISIL for 17th consecutive year

This is the 17th consecutive year  that the company has received the highest credit rating from the global brokerage. The rating reflects NSE Clearing’s strong financial position and its ability to meet debt obligations without any difficulty. The rating agency also recognised the company’s strong capital position and comprehensive risk management systems, which play a key role in maintaining market stability.

4 Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Mauritius’ capital Port Louis on a two-day visit

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi   has reached  Mauritius  ‘ capital  Port Louis on a two-day visit . During this, he will participate in various programs there.  On  March 12 , the Prime Minister will attend Mauritius’ National Day  celebrations as the chief guest. During this, several agreements are expected to be signed in the areas of maritime security, capacity building and trade. Indian Navy ship ‘ INS Imphal ‘ will participate in Mauritius’ National Day celebrations.

8 Jayashree Venkatesan receives Ramsar Award for judicious use of wetlands

Dr. Jayashree Venkatesan  has   become the first Indian to win  the annual prestigious Ramsar Award   in  the ‘Wetland Wise Use’ category . Dr. Jayashree Venkatesan is one of the 12 women who were included in the second edition of ‘ Women Changemakers in the World of Wetlands’ by the Ramsar Secretariat . The Ramsar Secretariat, based in Gland, Switzerland, announced the names of the ‘ 2025 Women Changemakers in the World of Wetlands ‘ on the eve of International Women’s Day   on   7 March 2025. The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is an international treaty that protects the world’s wetlands. Its secretariat is located at the headquarters of IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) in Gland, Switzerland.

9 OTAI of India and MPOC of Malaysia collaborate to promote benefits of palm oil in India

 On  March 7, 2025, Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh)  -based  Oil Technologists Association of India (OTAI)  and  Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)  -based  Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) signed a collaboration agreement to raise awareness about the nutritional and health benefits of Malaysian palm oil  in the Indian market   . The partnership aims to promote sustainable trade growth between Malaysia and India by dispelling misconceptions and promoting the role of palm oil in health, nutrition and industrial applications. The collaboration will focus on consumer education, industry engagement and scientific research to highlight the benefits of palm oil.

10 Professor Suman Chakraborty wins UNESCO’s TWAS Prize for developing low-cost medical diagnostic solutions

Suman Chakravarti  ,   Professor of  Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) , West Bengal (WB),  has been awarded The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Prize  for 2026 in Engineering and Computer Science (CS) by  the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)  . Suman Chakravarti is currently  a Jagadish Chandra Bose National Fellow and a Visiting Lecturer at Stanford University, California , United States of America (USA).

11 Government of India appointed Vikas Kaushal as CMD of HPCL for 5 years

In March 2025, the Government of India (GoI) appointed private sector consultant  Vikas Kaushal as the chairman and managing director (CMD) of  Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based  Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)  for a term of five years. He will replace director (finance) Rajnish Narang, who holds the additional charge of CMD from September 1, 2024.

12 RBI gives one year extension to Indusind Bank CEO Sumant Kathpalia

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)  granted Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based  IndusInd Bank  ‘s managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO)  Sumant Kathpalia  only  a one-year extension  , effective from March 24, 2025, to March 23, 2026. The approval follows IndusInd Bank’s earlier letter dated September 27, 2024 addressing the proposal to extend his tenure. The reappointment requires shareholders’ approval.

13 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Foundation Day

The Foundation Day of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)  is celebrated  every year  on 10th March . 14 Classical singer Garimella Balakrishna Prasad passes away

Garimella Balakrishna Prasad , renowned classical singer  and  former Asthana Vidwan (court musician) of  Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD),   died of a heart attack at his residence in Tirupati. He was 76.   Balakrishna Prasad, who served in TTD  from 1978 to 2006, rose to fame by composing tunes for over 1,000 compositions of saint poet Tallapaka Annamacharya  . Though these compositions were found and received in lyrical form, it was Balakrishna Prasad who brought them to music lovers. He played a key role in the dissemination of Annamacharya literature through music   and helped spread his philosophy.
