7.PM’s Economic Advisory Council suggests employment guarantee scheme for urban unemployed

The Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) has recommended that the government implement a guaranteed employment program for the unemployed in cities and a Universal Basic Income (UBI) scheme to bridge the income gap. Citing the country’s uneven income distribution, the report also advocated raising the minimum wage and increasing government investment in the social sector to make vulnerable groups more resilient to shocks and prevent them from falling into poverty.

8.WCR develops battery-powered dual-mode locomotive ‘Navdoot’

West Central Railway has developed battery operated dual mode shunting loco named Navdoot . This engine runs on both the modes i.e. battery and electricity. At present it is being used on trial basis during shunting of trains at Jabalpur division stations, Jabalpur, Mudwara and other stations. 84 batteries have been installed in it. In terms of weight, it can pull 400 tonnes. This dual mode locomotive has also received the Best Innovation Award from the Railway Board. With this new locomotive, Railways will save 1000 liters of diesel per day. It will be used more after clearing all the trials.

17.In-air engine relight test of Hansa-NG aircraft successfully completed

The Hansa-NG , a two-seat design flight trainer aircraft developed by CSIR-NAL , successfully completed the in -flight engine relight test at DRDO ‘s Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) facility, Challakere on May 17, 2022 . Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) test pilot Wing Commander K. The flight test was conducted by V. Prakash and Wing Commander NDS Reddy at an altitude of 7000-8000 feet with a speed range of 60 to 70 knots. The aircraft’s in-flight engine relight capability with wind milling propeller and starter assisted start was demonstrated. The aircraft operating characteristics and flight standards were found to be normal during these test flights.
