1.China, Kazakhstan sign deals worth over $8 billion :-

Chinese President Xi Jinping signed at least 24 deals with Kazakhstan, valued at more than $8 billion, during his visit to the country, state news agency Xinhuasaid on Friday, citing Commerce Minister Zhong Shan.

The deals aimed for cooperation between the two countries in the energy, mining, chemical, mechanical manufacturing, agriculture and infrastructure industries, Xinhua reported.

 

2.French Open 2017: Wawrinka to play Nadal for the title :-

Stan Wawrinka defeated Andy Murray in a five set thriller on Friday to storm into the Roland Garros final. The 2015 champion prevailed 6-7(6), 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-1 in a gruelling four-and-a-half-hour contest.

In a match that was always going to be a tussle between Wawrinka’s brilliance and Murray’s resilience, it was the Swiss who drew first blood in the first set, breaking Murray in the eighth game for a 5-3 lead.

 

3.Tata Motors global sales declines in May :-

Tata Motors on Friday reported over 1 % decline in global sales in May at 86,385 units, including that of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) vehicles.

The company had sold 87,414 units in May 2016, Tata Motors said in a statement.

In the passenger vehicles category, global sales stood at 58,075 units last month as against 55,039 units during the same period in 2016, up 6 %.

 

4.Brazil’s Michel Temer gets big victory in electoral court ruling :-

Brazil’s top electoral court has given embattled President Michel Temer a big victory, voting to reject allegations of campaign finance violations that would have removed him from office.

After four days of deliberations, judges yesterday voted 4-3 in a case that many viewed as a measure of whether Temer could remain in office amid a growing corruption scandal and single-digit popularity.

 

5.British pound tumbles as UK election gamble fails :-

The pound plunged Friday as Prime Minister Theresa May’s Conservatives lost its parliamentary majority in Britain’s general election, fuelling political uncertainty just days before the start of Brexit talks.

The pound sterling slumped in early morning deals to a seven-week low of $1.2636, while the euro hit a seven-month peak at 88.59 pence.

 

6.UAE urges Qatar to change policy after terror list issued :-

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) top diplomat said on Friday that the list issued on Thursday of 59 individuals and 12 organisations linked to terrorism gives Qatar a chance to change its policy.

The list is an opportunity for Qatar “to change direction away from petulance and escalation,” after the list of Qatar-linked “terrorists and terror groups” was issued by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, Anwar Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said on his twitter account, Xinhua reported.

8.India, Pakistan enter SCO, PM Narendra Modi message to Xi Jinping and Nawaz Sharif :-

The diplomatic games between India, China and Pakistan were in full play in Astana on Friday, as both India and Pakistan became members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

While Chinese President Xi Jinping started the day by telling Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he “liked” the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal, sources said he did not raise the One Belt One Road (OBOR) issue — India boycotted the summit in Beijing last month.

10.Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah complete epic comeback, Bangladesh knock out New Zealand :-

The comeback was scripted by a record stand of 224 runs, highest for Bangladesh for any wicket in ODIs, between Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah.

Both scored centuries as their team chased down the 266-run target with five wickets and 16 balls remaining.

Bangladesh will now hope that England beat Australia in the final game of Group A which will knock out Australia and help them qualify for the semis. England have already qualified for the semi-finals.
