1 India provides $2 million medical assistance to Nepal
In a significant move, the Government of India has sent medical assistance worth USD 2 million (2 million) to Nepal . The medical assistance includes vaccines and medicines for the treatment of patients with thalassemia and sickle cell disease . The first consignment of medical assistance includes influenza vaccine, salmonella vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, Haemophilus influenza vaccine and Streptococcus pneumoniae vaccine . Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava handed over the first consignment of medical assistance to Pradeep Paudel, Minister of Health and Population of Nepal, in Kathmandu, Nepal. Both sickle cell disease and thalassemia are genetic disorders. It is caused by errors in the gene for haemoglobin located in the red blood cell. Haemoglobin is composed of a protein (“globin”) and an iron molecule (“heme”). Haemoglobin carries oxygen within the red blood cell. It carries oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and organs of different parts of the body. Due to the presence of iron, it gives human blood its red colour.
2nd International Buddha Dhamma Conference held in Arunachal Pradesh
Recently a two-day International Buddha Dhamma Conference was held at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh , titled “ Buddhism and Culture of Northeast India ”. Buddhist monks and scholars from South Asia and Southeast Asia attended the conference and discussed spiritual and cultural connections beyond borders through the practice of Buddhism. The International Buddha Dhamma Conference was organized under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Culture. The conference was organized by the New Delhi-based International Buddhist Confederation in partnership with the Buddhist organization Mahabodhi Maitri Mandal and with the support of the Arunachal Pradesh government. The International Buddhist Confederation is a global umbrella organization of Buddhist bodies. The main objective of the International Buddhist Confederation is to preserve and promote Buddhist heritage around the world. The International Buddha Dhamma Conference was inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein. The conference was attended by Buddhist monastic communities, cultural historians and policy thinkers from India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bhutan, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
In the presence of Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation , MoU was signed between Ministry of Cooperation and Swiggy Instamart to bring cooperative dairy and other products on online marketplace . MoU was signed on Friday 25th April between Shri Amitesh Jha, CEO, Swiggy Instamart and Shri D K Verma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation. The signing of MoU will facilitate cooperatives to connect with new age customers through new age technologies.
4 Ground-tested active scramjet subscale combustor operating for over 1,000 seconds
Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) has achieved a significant milestone in the field of hypersonic weapon technology . DRDL is a premier laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) located in Hyderabad . DRDL completed the ground test of long duration Active Cooled Scramjet Subscale Combustor for more than 1,000 seconds at the newly built state-of-the-art Scramjet Connected Test Facility Centre in Hyderabad on 25 April 2025. This test is a follow-up to the earlier test conducted for 120 seconds in January 2025. With this successful test, the system will now be ready for full flight qualified combustion test soon. Hypersonic cruise missile is a class of weapons that can travel for long durations at speeds more than five times the speed of sound (> 6100 kmph) and is powered by air breathing engines. Air breathing propulsion engine systems with supersonic combustion capability play a vital role for long duration cruising conditions. This test validates the design of the long duration scramjet combustor as well as the test facility.

6 RGIA receives prestigious ACA Level-5 Carbon accreditation
In April 2025 , Rajiv Gandhi International Airport Limited (RGIA) located in Hyderabad (Telangana), operated by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), announced that it has been awarded the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme, globally recognised by Airports Council International (ACI) . has received Level-5 accreditation . With this accreditation, RGIA is now among the top 4 airports in the ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East region to have achieved Level-5, the highest level of carbon management certification under the ACA framework. The ACA program is the industry standard for evaluating airport efforts to manage and reduce carbon emissions. The ACA program consists of 7 levels: Level-1 (mapping), Level-2 (reduction), Level-3 (adaptation), Level-3+ (neutrality), Level-4 (transformation), Level-4+ (transition), and Level-5, making it the highest.
7 Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister released the book ‘Mere Achche Din’ on State Day
In April 2025 , Himachal Pradesh (HP) Chief Minister (CM) Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu released a book titled “Himachal Pradesh: Himachal Pradesh’s first national anthem ” written by 90-year-old veteran social activist Hari Singh Rana during the state-level Himachal Day celebrations at Pangi , Himachal Pradesh. released a book titled “ Mere Achhe Din . Hari Singh Rana, former pradhan (1979-1984) of Kilad Gram Panchayat, wearing the traditional Pangi white cap, submitted a memorandum outlining developmental demands for the region, including infrastructure and tribal welfare initiatives. The book chronicles the development journey of Himachal Pradesh since its formation in 1971. Published by the Himachal Pradesh Information and Public Relations Department, it highlights major achievements in infrastructure, education and tourism.
In April 2025 , Indian cueist Sourav Kothari has won the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) World Billiards Championship 2025 title defeating multiple-time world champion Pankaj Advani in the final held at Snooker & Billiards Ireland (SBI) Academy, Carlow, Ireland. Sourav Kothari won with a score of 725 points, finishing 480 points ahead of Pankaj Advani. His remarkable break of 325 points was the best performance of the match, showcasing his excellent cue control and focus. He also made breaks of 119 and 112 points, demonstrating exceptional skill and composure.
9 Brazil will host the 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027
Brazil has been elected as the host of the 10th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which will take place in 2027, at the FIFA Congress held in Bangkok, Thailand. This is the first time a South American country will host the FIFA Women’s World Cup . Australia and New Zealand jointly hosted the 9th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 which Spain won by defeating England in the final. Football superpower Brazil has previously hosted the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014. For the first time, the FIFA Congress, which represents FIFA’s member nations, voted to decide the host country of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Earlier, the FIFA Council, FIFA’s highest decision-making body, used to choose the host country of the World Cup. In Bangkok, there were only two bidders, Brazil and a joint bid from Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.
