1 India won the Women’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Championship

India  has   won  the Women’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey Championship .  India  defeated China  3-2  in the final in Muscat, the capital of Oman . Sakshi Rana, Ishika and Sunelita Toppo scored goals  in  the shootout  while Indian goalkeeper Nidhi saved three goals in the penalty shootout. Earlier, Jinzhuang scored the first goal of the match for China. India’s Kanika Siwach scored a goal in the third quarter to level the match. India’s  Deepika Sehrawat  scored the highest number of 12 goals in the tournament. India won the first Women’s Junior Asia Cup by defeating Republic of Korea last year.

2 100th Tansen Music Festival in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh registered in Guinness Book of World Records

The 100th Tansen Music Festival  in  Gwalior  ,  Madhya Pradesh  has been registered in  the Guinness Book of World Records . This record  was made by playing  nine musical instruments continuously for 9 minutes . 536 male and female artists  participated in it. The artists  performed  Raga Malhar, Miyan Ki Tori and Darbari Kanhra  . Famous flute player Pandit Ronu Majumdar  did the coordination work. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar were also present on this occasion. The Tansen Festival is organized by the Culture Department of Madhya Pradesh.

3 Britain joins the Trans-Pacific Comprehensive and Progressive Partnership Agreement

 

Britain   joined  the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) agreement. It  has become  the 12th country and the first European country to join this agreement. This agreement  includes  Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam . Britain  is trying to establish new trade deals abroad after  the 2016 Brexit referendum . CPTPP  was formed in the year 2018 and its purpose was to provide economic security to the countries of this bloc  against the dominance of China  . This agreement will enable British companies to do trade of more than $ 500 billion, which will contribute more than 15 percent to the total world economy.

4 Haryana: One hectare integrated farming system model of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar got national recognition

A one hectare integrated farming system model  developed   under  the All India Integrated Farming System Research Project  of  Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University,  Hisar  ,  Haryana  has  been given  national recognition . Vice Chancellor of the University B.R. Kamboj said that under this model, farmers can do various types of agricultural activities including cultivation of different crops, vegetables and fruits along with production of vermicompost, mushroom cultivation and production of biogas  . This model has been specially designed for small and marginal farmers so that they can increase production by reducing the cost of agriculture by making maximum use of available resources. Mr. Kamboj said that the integrated approach is environment friendly and helps farmers to earn income throughout the year. Apart from this, it also increases the fertility of the soil.

Union Home Minister  Amit Shah  presented   the prestigious  President’s Nishan decoration to  the Chhattisgarh Police  at a program in Raipur  . On this occasion, the Home Minister also inspected the parade. Addressing the program, Mr. Shah said that to fulfill the resolve of the Central Government to make Chhattisgarh Naxal-free before 31 March 2026, Chhattisgarh Police is conducting anti-Naxal operations with full bravery and dedication.

 The Army celebrated  Sherki-La Vijay Diwas  in collaboration with the local community at  Silmu Government Higher Secondary School,  Kargil  in  Ladakh  . The event  was organised to commemorate the liberation  of the strategic  Sherki-La pass during the Indo-Pakistani War in 1971 .

7 ‘Jalvahak’ scheme launched to promote cargo movement on National Waterways

Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW)  Shri Sarbananda Sonowal  unveiled  a landmark cargo promotion policy – ​​‘Jalvahak’ – to encourage long-distance cargo movement  through  National Waterway 1 (River Ganga)  as well as  National Waterway 2 (River Brahmaputra)  and  National Waterway 16 (River Barak) . It aims to promote long-distance cargo movement on waterways connected with Ganga, Brahmaputra and Barak rivers. The scheme will promote the use of indigenous waterways for cargo movement over distances of more than 300 km. Shri Sonowal also flagged off 3 cargo vessels from GR Jetty in Kolkata. With this, cargo vessel services have started from Haldia on National Waterways No. 1 and 2. Shri Sonowal said that cargo movement through waterways is economical and environment friendly, hence the government wants to promote it. He said that this will also reduce traffic pressure on railways and roads. This scheme is a big step towards promoting sustainable and cost-effective transportation on National Waterways-1 (Ganga), 2 (Brahmaputra) and 16 (Barak River).

8 Mumbai won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title, became the winner for the second time

Mumbai  team  has won the title of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy  .  Mumbai  defeated Madhya Pradesh by five wickets in the final match played at  M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru  . Batting first, Madhya Pradesh scored 174 runs for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Mumbai won the match by scoring 180 runs for five wickets in the 18th over. Surya Kumar Yadav scored the highest 48 runs. Suryansh Sheje scored an unbeaten 36 and Ajinkya Rahane scored 37 runs. Sheje was declared Player of the Match. Captain Rajat Patidar scored an unbeaten 81 runs for Madhya Pradesh. Mumbai team has won this title for the second time. In 2022, it won this title by defeating Himachal Pradesh.

9 Mumbai Indians bought 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Kamalini for Rs 1.6 crore

 The auction for  Women’s Premier League Cricket 2025 was held in  Bengaluru  . Deandra Dottin, Simran Sheikh, G. Kamalini and Prema Rawat  were bought at the highest price.  Gujarat Giants  bought  West Indies  all-rounder  Deandra  for Rs 1 crore 70 lakh and  Mumbai  batsman  Simran for the highest price of Rs 1 crore 90 lakh  .   Mumbai Indians bought 16-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Kamalini for Rs 1 crore 60 lakh. Royal Challengers Bangalore spent Rs 1 crore 20 lakh for Uttarakhand all-rounder Prema.

10 The logo, mascot, anthem, jersey and torch of the 38th National Games were unveiled in Dehradun, Uttarakhand

 

Uttarakhand  Chief Minister  Pushkar Singh Dhami  unveiled   the logo, mascot, anthem, jersey and torch of the 38th National Games  in Dehradun  . The 38th National Games are to be held in Uttarakhand   from 28 January  to  14 February 2025. These games will be held in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Rudrapur and Haldwani. There will be a total of 38 events in the National Games, including four demonstration sports.

11 Tabla player Ustad Zakir Hussain passes away

World famous tabla player  and  Padma Vibhushan Ustad Zakir Hussain  passed away. According to the family, Hussain   was suffering from  idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis . The family said that he  was admitted to a hospital in  San Francisco for the last two weeks. Zakir was born on 9 March 1951  in Mumbai. Ustad Zakir Hussain   was awarded  Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2023. His father’s name was Ustad Allarakha Qureshi  and mother’s name  was Bavi Begum  . Zakir’s father Allarakha was also a tabla player. Hussain  performed   his first concert in America at the age of just 11. In 1973, he launched   his first album ‘ Living in the Material World ‘. Hussain  received  his first Grammy Award in 2009. In 2024, he  won 3 Grammys for 3 different albums . In this way, Zakir Hussain won a total of 4 Grammy Awards. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis In the lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, the lung tissue gets damaged, which causes difficulty in breathing. Shortness of breath and cough in the throat are its initial symptoms.  In 2016,  former US President Barack Obama  invited him  to  the White House  to participate in the All Star Global Concert  . Zakir Hussain was the first Indian musician to receive this invitation.
