2 President of India inaugurated the National Conference on ‘Developed India with Women Power’
President of India Smt. Draupadi Murmu inaugurated a National Conference on ‘ Nari Shakti se Vikas Bharat ‘ in New Delhi on March 8, 2025. The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development is organizing this conference on International Women’s Day. The theme of this national conference is ‘ Nari Shakti se Vikas Bharat ‘. A massive campaign is also being run on this occasion through #SheBuildsBharat . Women officers of the Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and Delhi Police as well as volunteers of ‘ Mera Yuva Bharat ‘, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, members of Self Help Groups will participate in this program.
3 “Life and Contribution of Women Members of Constituent Assembly” – Book launched
On the occasion of International Women’s Day , a landmark publication of the Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice, “ Life and Contribution of Women Members of the Constituent Assembly ” is being formally released. This scholarly work is a tribute to fifteen eminent women who played a crucial role in drafting the Constitution of India but whose contributions have been largely overlooked in mainstream historical and legal writings. The book carefully documents the contributions of these pioneering women, including lawyers, social reformers and freedom fighters who overcame deep structural barriers within a predominantly male-dominated political system. The book traces the evolution of women’s constitutional aspirations from the founding of the Women’s Indian Association in 1917 to their ultimate realisation of political representation in independent India.
4 Delhi Government approves Mahila Samridhi Yojana to give Rs 2,500 to poor women
On the occasion of International Women’s Day , Union Minister JP Nadda launched the ‘ Mahila Samridhi Yojana ‘ on Saturday . Under this scheme, women of Delhi will be given direct financial assistance of Rs 2500 every month . A budgetary provision of Rs 5 thousand 100 crore has been made for the implementation of this scheme. A portal will soon be launched to start the registration process for Mahila Samridhi Yojana.
5 Chinese architect Liu Jiakun wins the 2025 ‘Pritzker Architecture Prize’
On March 4, 2025, Chinese architect Liu Jiakun was named as the ‘ 2025 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate ‘, the highest honor in the field of architecture . He will be honored at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in May 2025. Liu Jiakun becomes the 54th laureate and the second Chinese architect to receive the honor after Wang Shu in 2012. The Pritzker Prize was given for his reverence for culture, history, and nature, highlighting his ability to imagine and build new worlds free from any aesthetic or stylistic constraints.
6 Army Chief General Anil Chauhan concludes his successful visit to Australia
Army Chief General Anil Chauhan has completed his successful visit to Australia . The Defense Ministry said in a statement that this visit reflects the growing relations between the two countries under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The ministry emphasized the shared commitment between the two countries towards regional security and military cooperation. The Defense Ministry said that during the visit, the Army Chief held discussions with Australia’s Chief of Defense Force, Admiral David Johnston and the Chiefs of Staff Committee.
7 Fisheries Startup Conclave 2.0 organized
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated the Startup Conclave 2.0 in Hyderabad . The Startup Conclave 2.0 will bring together key stakeholders to discuss and promote innovation in the fisheries sector . The National Fisheries Digital Platform (NFDP) mobile app was also launched at the Startup Conclave 2.0.
In March 2025 , Union Minister Pralhad Joshi , Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) inaugurated India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered solar manufacturing line at Goldie Solar Pvt Ltd ’s newly built facility in Kosamba , Surat , Gujarat . The AI-enabled facility improves accuracy, scalability, and efficiency, transforming solar manufacturing and aiding India’s transition to a net-zero future. These advancements include high-speed stringers that can produce 10,000 cells per hour using AI-powered automation. This ensures consistent quality, minimizes errors, and reduces material wastage. The facility also uses AI-powered automated optical inspection (AOI) techniques for real-time quality control. These tools use powerful computer vision to detect and eliminate microscopic defects. Additionally, the plant has AI-powered 3-display electro luminescent (EL) and visual inspection equipment that checks both the front and back of the modules.
9 Philippines has rejected China’s claim that Palawan Island is part of China
The Philippines has rejected China ‘s claim that Palawan Island is part of China. The National Maritime Council of the Philippines – NMC condemned China’s claims and said that false information is being spread on social media with the aim of misleading the public. This dispute has come to the fore after China’s increasing interest in the South China Sea . The South China Sea is a resource-rich region on which the Philippines also claims. In the year 2016 , the Permanent Court of Arbitration declared China’s claim in this area illegal . However, China refused to accept this decision.
10 India’s EPHL and Belgium’s JCD form joint venture in India for light tank programme
In March 2025 , Seraing (Belgium) -based John Cockerill Defence (JCD) , the world’s top turret manufacturer for battle tanks , and Pune (Maharashtra) -based Electro Pneumatics & Hydraulics Private Limited (EPHL) announced a joint venture (JV) in India . This collaboration is a significant step in strengthening India-Belgium defence ties and further enhancing India’s indigenous military capabilities.
11 IOB and IGBC sign MoU to promote green finance for IGBC-certified projects
In March 2025, Chennai (Tamil Nadu, TN) based public sector Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyderabad (Telangana) based Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to provide accessible and affordable financing solutions to developers and homebuyers. IOB General Manager (GM) and Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) Kaustav Majumder exchanged the documents with CII-IGBC Executive Director (ED) K S Venkatagiri in presence of IGBC Chennai Chapter Co-Chairman Mahesh Anand and IOB EDs Datta Roy and Dhanraj T.
12 India won the title of 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship
India has won the title of the sixth Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship . India defeated Iran 32-25 in the final in Tehran . Earlier, India had defeated Nepal in the semi-finals . The Indian team has won the title of the competition for the fifth time.
