1 Indian team won the ICC Champions Trophy for the third time by defeating New Zealand by 4 wickets

 In  cricket , Team India  has  created a big record by winning the ICC Champions Trophy for the third time by defeating New Zealand  by  four wickets  in the final match played at  Dubai International Cricket Stadium  . Chasing the target of 252 runs in the final match, India achieved it with one over remaining.  Captain Rohit Sharma was declared Player of the Match  and  New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra  was   declared Player of the Series .

2 Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Annapurna Devi to attend 69th Session of UNCSW beginning in New York

 A delegation of the Government of India led by  Union Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD)  Smt. Annapurna Devi will participate in the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women  , which is scheduled to commence  on   10th March 2025 at the UN Headquarters  in  New York  . The Union Minister for Women and Child Development will deliver the National Statement at the Commission and participate in the Ministerial Roundtable to highlight the path-breaking and transformative initiatives of the Government of India under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the holistic development and empowerment of all women and girls in areas such as health and wellness, education and entrepreneurship, digital and financial inclusion, promoting women’s leadership and decision-making, and reducing hardship through several initiatives. The session will witness large-scale participation from all UN Member States as well as inter-governmental organisations, private sector, philanthropists, academia, civil society, women’s groups and UN agencies.

3 JP Nadda announced Chief Minister Balika Samridhi Yojana and Chief Minister Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana in Tripura

BJP  president and Union Health Minister  Jagat Prakash Nadda  announced   two new schemes for girls in  Tripura , Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana  and  Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana  . Under the Samridhi Yojana, on the birth of a girl child in a family living below the poverty line,  the state government  will deposit  Rs 50,000 in her name in the form of a bond . When the girl turns 18, she  will get a total of Rs 10 lakh. Under the second scheme for girl students, Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana,  140 meritorious girl students appearing in  Tripura Board, Central Board of Secondary Education and ICSE  examinations  will be given scooties.

4 Liberal Party elects Mark Carney as Canada’s new Prime Minister

Former central banker Mark Carney will be  Canada  ‘s next prime minister.  The ruling Liberal Party  has chosen him as its leader. Carney, 59, will replace Prime Minister  Justin Trudeau  , who announced his resignation in January. Carney, 59, previously served as governor of the Bank of Canada and later became the first non-citizen to lead the Bank of England in 2013.

Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Railways and Information & Broadcasting  Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw  achieved   a major milestone in India’s AI journey by  launching several key initiatives under the IndiaAI Mission  during the anniversary celebrations of  IndiaAI Mission  in  New Delhi . The newly launched initiatives include AIKOSHA: IndiaAI Dataset PlatformAI Compute PortalAI Competency Framework for Public Sector OfficialsiGOT-AI Mission KarmayogiIndiaAI Startup Global Acceleration Programme with Station FIndiaAI Application Development Initiative  and  IndiaAI FutureSkills  , aimed at strengthening AI-based research, innovation and skill development. He informed that the AI ​​Compute Portal will initially provide access to 10,000 GPUs, with 8,693 more GPUs to be added, providing AI compute services at a highly subsidized rate to support startups, researchers and enterprises.

6 Indian Army contingent leaves for Military Exercise Khanjar-XII

The Indian Army contingent on Sunday  left for   the India-Japan Joint Special Forces Exercise  Khanjar-XII .  The 12th installment of Exercise Khanjar-XII between India and Kyrgyzstan will take place in Kyrgyzstan  from March 10 to March 23, 2025.  According to the Ministry of Defense, since its inception in 2011, Khanjar XII is an annual training event. The alternate venues between India and Kyrgyzstan reflect the unique dimension of the thriving strategic relationship. The last exercise was conducted in India in January 2024. Let us tell you, the Indian contingent is represented by soldiers of the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and the Kyrgyz contingent is represented by the Kyrgyz Scorpion Brigade. The aim of this exercise is to exchange experiences and best practices in counter-terrorism and special forces operations in urban and mountainous areas. The exercise will also focus on developing advanced special forces skills of sniping, difficult building intervention and mountain craft.

7 Foundation stone laid for Microsoft India’s development center in Noida

 On  March 7, 2025, the foundation stone of Microsoft India  ‘s  development center  was laid   in  Noida . This center will be Microsoft’s largest development and research center in India  . In this center, special attention will be given to technologies related to cloud computing, quantum computing, artificial intelligence and cyber security.

8 1st edition of World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit to be held from 1st to 4th May in Mumbai

The upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES)  will serve as a major platform to connect Indian creators and technologists with global industry leaders,  the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry  said on Sunday  . The first edition of WAVES is going to be held in Mumbai  from May 1 to May 4.  WAVES  will bring together professionals from the media and entertainment industry to showcase Indian talent. The event will focus on four key areas, including broadcast and infotainment, AVGC-XR (animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and extended reality), digital media and innovation and films. The event aims to create new opportunities through partnerships between Indian and international industry leaders.

9 9th Tiger Reserve – Madhav National Park – to be inaugurated in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh  Chief Minister  Mohan Yadav  will inaugurate  the state’s 9th tiger reserve  –  Madhav National Park –  by releasing a tiger and a tigress  . The Chief Minister will also inaugurate a 13 km long stone protection wall inside the park. Mr. Yadav  expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gifting  the ninth tiger reserve to the state , which will be the 58th  such protected park in the country.  Located in Shivpuri district  , this tiger reserve will promote wildlife conservation and tourism which is a major achievement of Madhya Pradesh in the field of wildlife conservation. The national park currently has five tigers. According to the ‘Status of Tigers in India: Co-predators and Prey-2022’ report released by the National Tiger Conservation Authority and Wildlife Institute of India, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of tigers in the country at 785, followed by Karnataka at 563 and Uttarakhand at 560.

10 DPIIT and Mercedes-Benz India Private Limited signed a MoU

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT)  and  Mercedes-Benz India Pvt Ltd have signed a MoU to boost  India’s  manufacturing ecosystem, road safety and environmental sustainability  . It aims to assist startups, innovators and entrepreneurs in achieving technological excellence and promoting societal development. The MoU was signed by Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director, DPIIT and Santosh Iyer, Managing Director, Mercedes-Benz India in the presence of senior officials of both the organisations.

11 Union Health Minister Shri JP Nadda inaugurates the 3rd International Symposium on Health Technology Assessment 2025

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare  Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda  inaugurated   the 3rd International Symposium on Health Technology Assessment 2025 (ISHTA 2025)  at   Bharat Mandapam  , Delhi . It is being organized by  the Department of Health Research (DHR) , Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India  in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO) India Country Office  and  Centre for Global Development (CGD)  . The theme of the symposium this year is “ Evidence-based policy making: Health technology assessment for affordable healthcare .”

12 NITI Aayog and India SME Forum launch ‘A Million Women Arise’ initiative for women entrepreneurs

 On  March 6, 2025 New Delhi (Delhi)  -based  National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog  and  Mumbai  (Maharashtra)-based  India Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Forum  jointly  launched the ‘ A Million Women Arise initiative ’ to empower women entrepreneurs  across India . The initiative aims to address challenges faced by women-led  micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)  . Of India’s 6 crore registered micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), 35% are women-owned enterprises. The initiative aims to enhance formalization, mentoring, capacity building and electronic (e)-commerce integration for women in business.

13 Coursera Report: India leads in GenAI adoption

India   is emerging as  a global leader in artificial intelligence (AI)  adoption  , yet women remain underrepresented in this fast-growing field.  According to data from   online learning platform  Coursera , while India ranks second globally in generative AI (GenAI) enrolments among female learners  , they  account for only 29.6 per cent of total GenAI enrolments in the country  – while  representing 40 per cent of all learners on the platform  . Globally, women account for 32 per cent of GenAI enrolments on Coursera. This gap underscores the need for targeted interventions to ensure equitable access to GenAI opportunities and enable more women to lead in the AI-driven era.
