1 Indian women’s football team qualifies for next year’s AFC Asian Cup

The Indian women’s football team has qualified for the AFC Asian Cup to be held in Australia  next year   . In the fourth and final match of Group B of the competition, India defeated host  Thailand  2-1.  Sangeeta Basfor  scored two goals for India to give the team a spectacular victory. Earlier, the Indian team  had qualified for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 22 years ago .

2 PM Modi was awarded the special honour ‘Key to the City’ in Buenos Aires

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  was honoured with a special honour in Argentina  ‘s capital  Buenos Aires  on Saturday (local time)  . He was presented with the ‘ Key to the City ‘, which is a symbol of deep friendship and trust between India and Argentina. This honour was handed over to him by the head of Buenos Aires City Government George Macri. This honour is given to eminent personalities of the world who build special relations with a city or increase cultural, political or economic ties in that city. It is worth noting that Argentina is  the third leg of Prime Minister Modi’s five-nation visit  . Earlier, he   has visited  Ghana and Trinidad and Tobago . After this, he  will participate in  the 17th BRICS summit to be held in Brazil and then go to Namibia . This visit of PM Modi is considered an important step towards giving a new direction to India’s global diplomacy and strengthening relations with South American countries.

3 India signed six agreements with Trinidad and Tobago to enhance cooperation in several sectors including infrastructure and pharmaceuticals

Prime Minister  Narendra Modi  held  wide-ranging talks with  Prime Minister of  Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar at   the iconic  Red House  in Port of Spain  . Following the talks, the two countries  signed six agreements  to enhance cooperation in  a number of areas, including infrastructure and pharmaceuticals  . In a social media post, Mr Modi said the two countries agreed to deepen economic ties and enhance cooperation in areas such as disaster management, climate change, defence, technology, healthcare and agricultural research. They also reaffirmed commitment to strengthen the global fight against terrorism. Mr Modi reiterated India’s commitment to advance India-CARICOM relations and the voice of the Global South.

4 World Bank ranks India among the most equal countries in the world

The World Bank  has ranked India  among the most egalitarian countries in the world  . According to the World Bank, India’s  Gini index is 25.5 ,  making   it  the fourth most egalitarian country in the world from an economic point of view . The first three countries are Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Belarus  . The Gini index measures how equally income, wealth and consumption are distributed among people in a country. India is placed in the moderately unequal category with a Gini index between 25 and 30. India is just a few steps away from being placed in the low inequality category. This category includes  countries like Slovak Republic with  a Gini index of 24.1 Slovenia   with  an index of 24.3 and  Belarus with an index of  24.4   . Apart from these three, India’s index is better than all the other 167 countries for which the World Bank has released data. India’s Gini index is much lower than China’s 35.7 and much lower than the US’ 41.8. India’s journey towards achieving the goal of economic equality continues. India’s Gini index was 28.8 in 2011 which will be 25.5 in 2025. These figures show that India is making steady progress towards social equality along with economic progress.

5 Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the country’s first cooperative university Tribhuvan Cooperative University in Gujarat

Union Home and Cooperative Minister  Amit Shah  laid the foundation stone of the country’s first cooperative university, Tribhuvan Cooperative University,  in  Anand  ,   Gujarat  . During the program, Mr. Shah said that  in the last four years, the Ministry of Cooperation has initiated 60 new measures . The Ministry of Cooperation was established to infuse hope in the lives of crores of poor and rural people. Mr. Shah said that about 40 lakh workers have joined the cooperative movement. He said that this university will do work like policy making, data analysis, cooperative development strategy and research in the cooperative sector. Also, this university will not only prepare cooperative employees but also prepare dedicated cooperative leaders like Tribhuvan Bhai, who will study and lead the cooperative sector.

6 7th Annual International Conference of Innovative Physicians Forum held in New Delhi

 The 7th Annual International Conference   of Innovative Physicians Forum  is being held in  New Delhi . Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla  inaugurated the conference. On this occasion, Mr Birla   focused on  medical education, research and global collaboration . He also highlighted the health policy and medical landscape of emerging India. Physicians and researchers from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and UK  are participating in the conference. The aim of the conference is to discuss the future of internal medicine. It will also give a new dimension to international partnerships in the field of medicine, education and research.

7 Coal Ministry to launch RECLAIM community participation and development framework

The Ministry of Coal   is going to launch  the Community Engagement and Development Framework – RECLAIM . Union Minister for Coal and Mines Shri G Kishan Reddy  will launch it on 4th July, 2025.  Coal Controller Organization  , Ministry of Coal, in collaboration with  Heartfulness Institute  has developed this comprehensive community development framework. Specifically, it  is designed for communities affected after mine closure  . Mine closure has significant impacts on both landscape and local livelihoods and hence this framework is an important step towards ensuring equitable and sustainable transition for communities that have evolved alongside mining operations over decades. This framework, called RECLAIM, serves as a clear guide for inclusive community engagement and development in mine closure and post-closure phases. The framework provides a practical, step-by-step approach to institutionalize community participation in this process of change.

8 Virudhunagar will become a global textile hub under PM Mitra scheme

 The Government  of India  has approved the setting up of a ₹1,900 crore  PM  MITRA Textile Park  in  Virudhunagar , Tamil Nadu  ,  a major step towards strengthening India’s position in  the global textile industry  . Spread over 1,052 acres, the mega park will have state-of-the-art infrastructure including Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) treatment, a 10,000-bed dormitory and over 1.3 million sq ft of ready-to-use industrial space. Aimed at promoting technical textiles and sustainable apparel manufacturing, the park is expected to attract investments worth ₹10,000 crore and create over one lakh jobs by 2026.

9 Central Government cuts toll rates for highways with bridges, flyovers, tunnels by up to 50 percent

Giving a big relief to the drivers, the central government has reduced the toll rates on some sections  of   national highways by up to 50 percent  . These sections include structures like  tunnels, bridges, flyovers and elevated roads  . The move is aimed at reducing the cost of travel and making road travel more affordable for the people. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways  has amended  the National Highway Fee Rules, 2008  and notified a new formula for calculating toll charges  . According to the new rule, now the toll will be calculated in such a way that the fee will be reduced on those sections of the highway, which mainly consist of expensive infrastructure. According to the notification, if a section of the national highway includes structures like flyovers or tunnels, then the toll will be calculated based on the lower value of either ten times the length of the structure or five times the total length of the highway section.

10 Microsoft shuts down its operations in Pakistan after 25 years

Global technology giant  Microsoft has officially shut down its operations in Pakistan after 25 years  as part of   its  global restructuring plan  . The company announced the move citing extensive workforce reductions due to  the shift to a cloud-based, partner-led model and cutting over 9000 jobs globally.  Jawad Rehman, former head of Microsoft in Pakistan, confirmed the closure and linked the decision to Pakistan’s challenging economic conditions, political instability, high taxes, currency issues and trade restrictions. Meanwhile, former Pakistan President Dr Arif Alvi called the move a troubling sign for Pakistan’s economy. He recalled a missed investment opportunity in 2022, when a planned expansion of Microsoft was reportedly cancelled following political changes in the country. Microsoft first opened in Pakistan on March 7, 2000, playing a key role in the country’s digital growth.

Former Bihar Chief Minister  and senior leader  Lalu Prasad  took  over as the President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal  . In the recently held party organisational elections, he was elected as the party president for the 13th time. He assumed the charge of the President’s post after being elected unopposed in the Rashtriya Janata Dal’s executive meeting in Patna.  The Rashtriya Janata Dal   was founded  on 5 July 1997  after the split of the then  Janata Dal.

13 Pakistan became the President of UNSC

Pakistan   has become  the President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and will remain the President for the entire month  . However, it did not get this presidency through any voting, but   got this opportunity due to  the rotation number . Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations , Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed,  will lead the council for the entire month. Pakistan was elected as   a temporary member of the United Nations Security Council in January this year  . The presidency of the council keeps rotating among  its 15 member countries  . This council has 5 permanent members and 10 temporary members  . The UNSC has 15 members, and every member country gets a chance to become the President for one month each. Pakistan got this opportunity in July. Pakistan is currently a non-permanent member of the Security Council, which was elected for a two-year term in January 2025. In the election, Pakistan got 182 out of 193 votes – which shows that most countries supported it.

14 Central government to set up ₹100 crore integrated aqua park in Jammu and Kashmir

 In a major move to strengthen the rural economy and fisheries infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) , the Government of India  is considering  a ₹100 crore proposal to set up  an integrated aqua park  under the second phase of   the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY)  . Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh  also  virtually inaugurated a 50,000 litre UHT milk processing plant in Jammu  , reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to livestock and aquaculture development in the region.

15 Ancient Egyptian genomes sequenced for the first time

In a landmark achievement in archaeology and genetics  , researchers  have successfully sequenced the first complete genome of  an ancient Egyptian   . The discovery not only opens new doors in our understanding of ancient human populations, but also sheds light on inter-cultural interactions more than 4,500 years ago. The study, published in the journal Nature   on   2 July 2025 , presents the most comprehensive genetic profile ever obtained from ancient Egyptian remains.

Olympic gold medalist  in  javelin throw, Neeraj  Chopra   has won the title of  the first Neeraj Chopra Classic competition . Neeraj threw the javelin up to 86.18 meters in Bengaluru .  Julius Yego of Kenya finished second and Rumesh Pathirage of Sri Lanka  finished third .
