1 Indian wrestlers won 21 medals at Ulaanbaatar Open 2025

Indian wrestlers  ended   their campaign with  21 medals- six gold, seven silver and eight bronze- at  the 2025 Ulaanbaatar Open Wrestling Ranking Series  . The event was held in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar from May 29  to  June 1  , 2025. It was the third Ranking Series organised by United World Wrestling (UWW) in 2025. The first Ranking Series for senior wrestlers was held in Zagreb, Croatia (February 5-9), and the second was held in Tirana, Albania (February 26-March 2). The fourth and last Ranking Series of 2025 will be held in Budapest, Hungary from July 17 to 20, 2025. India’s Gold Medals

2 President Murmu implements Ladakh Official Language Regulation 2025

President Draupadi Murmu  has  implemented  the Ladakh Official Language Regulation 2025.  With this, this regulation has come into force in the entire Union Territory. The Ministry of Law and Justice notified this regulation on Tuesday and recognized English, Hindi, Urdu, Bhoti and Purgi  as official languages ​​to be used for all or any official purposes of the Union Territory. It is known that before the implementation of this regulation,  English language  has been used as an official language for official purposes .

3 President Draupadi Murmu conferred 92 Distinguished Service Decorations in the second phase of Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi

President Draupadi Murmu  conferred   92  Distinguished Service Decorations  at   the second phase  of Defence Investiture Ceremony 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in  New Delhi  . The President honoured personnel from the Armed Forces, Indian Coast Guard and Border Roads Organisation  . 30 Param Vishisht Seva Medals, five Uttam Yudh Seva Medals and 57 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals were awarded  to the personnel for   distinguished service  . Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor were awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal Pankaj Mohan Sinha and others were awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal. Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, Director General Parmesh Sivamani, Rear Admiral Sandeep Mehta, Air Vice Marshal Ajay Kumar Pan, George P Cherian of Border Roads Organisation were awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

4 Two more historical sites of India included in the list of Ramsar heritage sites

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  has praised India’s continuous progress in environmental protection  as two more historical sites of India  were   included in  the list of Ramsar heritage sites . Kheechan   in  Phalodi  , Rajasthan  and  Menar wetland   in  Udaipur have been added to the prestigious list of Ramsar sites . With this, India now   has a total of 91 Ramsar sites .

5 The government decided to conduct the census in two phases in the year 2027

The government has   decided to conduct  Census-2027 in two phases along with the census of castes . The first phase will be held  from  October 1, 2026  in the hilly and snow-bound areas  of  Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Ladakh . The second phase will be conducted from March 1, 2027  covering other parts of the country.  The last census  was conducted  in the year 2011 in two phases. The first phase was to list the houses and the second phase was to count the population. As per the provision of Section 3 of the Census Act, 1948  , the notification of intention to conduct the census with the above reference dates will be published in the official gazette probably on 16.06.2025. The Census of India is  conducted under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948 and the Census Rules, 1990  .

6 India got the presidency of ‘International Institute of Administrative Sciences’

Indiathrough  the Department of Administrative Reforms  is a member country of the International Institute of Administrative Sciences since 1998. The International Institute of Administrative Sciences is an association of  31 Member States, 20 National Sections and 15 Academic Research Centres  that jointly collaborate to undertake scientific research on public administration. Its key member countries are India, Japan, China, Germany, Italy, Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, Qatar, Morocco, Indonesia etc. The IIAS  maintains a close working relationship with the United Nations  , and participates in the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) and the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN). While  the IIAS is not a formally affiliated body of the United Nations  , it is actively engaged with the work of the United Nations in public administration. For  the position of President of the IIAS for 2025-2028  , Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi   nominated the Indian candidature of Shri V. Srinivas, Secretary DARPG in November 2024.

7 Liberal Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung sworn in as 21st President of South Korea

Liberal Democratic Party  leader  Lee Jae-myung  was  sworn in as the 21st President of South Korea  . His term will be five years. South Korea’s National Election Commission confirmed Lee’s victory in the presidential elections. His closest rival was Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party. The voting took place after former conservative leader Yoon Suk-yol was removed from office due to the imposition of martial law.

8 Telangana government announced to develop world-class eco-town in Hyderabad

The Telangana government  has  announced plans to develop a world-class eco-town in Hyderabad inspired by  Kitakyushu city in Japan  . The project will be spread over 80 acres of land. The project focuses on sustainability, zero carbon emission target and integrated economic development that ensures the needs of future generations. State IT and Industry Minister D. Sridhar Babu announced this during a special event titled ‘Kitakyushu to Telangana: Promoting Sustainable Industrial Development’ held in Hyderabad. He said the initiative is a result of a bilateral cooperation agreement between Telangana and Kitakyushu.

9 AIIMS signed an MoU with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

AIIMS  has   signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi to set up a Centre of Excellence   for   Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare . The new centre will focus on developing cutting-edge artificial intelligence-driven solutions aimed at strengthening India’s flagship national healthcare programmes. Prof. M. Srinivas, Director, AIIMS Delhi, said this collaboration marks the beginning of a transformational era in medical research that could revolutionise healthcare delivery across the country.

A tri-service all-women sailing expedition team of 10 returned home after completing a two-month long 1,800 nautical mile journey to Seychelles

The Tri-Services Women Sailing Expedition Team  returned home   on 04 June 2025  after completing an unprecedented international voyage of 1,800 nautical miles to Seychelles .  This historic expedition, which commenced on  07 April 2025,  is  the first international open-sea sailing mission undertaken by a women team of the Indian Armed Forces . Lieutenant General  AK Ramesh  , Commandant, College of Military Engineering,  Mumbai , formally flagged off the expedition. He termed the mission as a milestone in the journey towards gender-inclusive operational excellence. Appreciating the courage and determination of the team, he emphasised the growing role of women as key contributors to the operational strength of the armed forces. On board the 56-foot long boat indigenously built  Indian Armed Services Ship ‘Triveni’,  the team of 11 women officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force undertook the voyage in challenging sea conditions for nearly two months. Braving tropical storms, rough sea conditions and prolonged fatigue, the crew displayed exceptional endurance and determination.

Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change  Kirti Vardhan Singh   attended  the High Level International Conference on the Conservation of Glaciers  held in  Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan . The conference was held from  27-31 May 2025.  The aim of the conference was to highlight the threat posed by the receding glaciers in the world and its impact on the world’s fresh water resources  . The conference brought together policy makers and experts from across the world to discuss the issue of glacier conservation and formulate coordinated actions to tackle climate change that poses a threat to glaciers. The International Conference on the Conservation of Glaciers 2025 was organized  by   the Government of Tajikistan in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)World Meteorological Organization (WMO)  and  Asian Development Bank .

12 IICA forays into Northeast, opens first regional campus in Shillong

 Taking a major step towards inclusive growth and regional empowerment , the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under   the Ministry of Corporate Affairs,  is setting up  its first regional campus in  New Shillong Township, Meghalaya  . Supported by ₹100.95 crore under the PM-DevINE  (Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for Northeast) scheme, the new campus is envisaged as a centre for specialized training, research and policy advice in critical areas such as corporate governance, ESG, CSR and bankruptcy. This strategic initiative reflects India’s continued commitment to integrate the North East into the national growth narrative.

13 RCB became IPL champion

Royal Challengers Bangalore  (RCB- Captain Rajat Patidar )  defeated Punjab Kings  (PBKS- Captain Shreyas Iyer )  by 6 runs  to win  the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025  trophy. With this win, RCB has ended a 17-year drought. In the final match played in Ahmedabad  , RCB batted first and scored 190 runs, in response to which Punjab Kings could score only 184 runs.

14 French club PSG beat Inter Milan to win the 2025 UEFA Champions League

French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)  created history by winning their first UEFA Men’s Champions League title by defeating  Italian  football club  Internazionale Milan  (known as Inter Milan) 5–0  in the final . The 2024–25 UEFA Men’s Champions League Final was held on 31 May 2025 in the German city of Munich. The conclusion of the final match also marks the end of the 2024–25 European football season.
