The report states that India remains a bright spot amid global economic uncertainty. According to this, in the year 2023, the rate of inflation in India is likely to come down to 5.5 percent. According to the report, economic growth in India is expected to remain strong while the economic growth rate of other South Asian countries will be more challenging.

These states and union territories are Goa, Telangana, Haryana, Gujarat, Punjab, Puducherry, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. According to the ministry, due to the untiring efforts of the central and state governments, tap water supply has been provided in more than nine lakh schools and more than nine lakh 39 thousand Anganwadi centres.
3 Indigenous dengue vaccine trial in India

In response to ‘Expression of Interest’ for collaborative Phase-III clinical trials for indigenous manufacturers, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Application has been submitted. Phase-III trials are conducted to evaluate the efficacy, safety and immunogenicity of tetravalent dengue vaccine candidates developed by Indian manufacturers. Dengue virus disease poses a huge health burden globally, with 2–2.5 lakh cases reported annually in India. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized dengue as one of the top ten global health threats. There is currently no specific treatment for dengue, which underscores the urgent need for effective vaccines. Dengue is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by dengue virus (genus flavivirus), transmitted by several species of mosquitoes of the genus Aedes, mainly Aedes aegypti. This mosquito also transmits chikungunya, yellow fever and Zika infection.
4 Eli Lilly develops donanumab drug for the treatment of Alzheimer’s

(Donanemab) drug is prepared. Donanumab is not currently approved for use in the US and Europe . Donanumab belongs to antibody-based therapies that target the amyloid-beta (Aβ) protein. targets. These proteins can form amyloid plaques (a small, abnormal patch of tissue on a body part or organ) in the brain, which can lead to a decrease in cognitive cognition. Donanumab aims to remove these plaques and slow down the progression of the disease. Lecanumab belongs to a class of drugs called monoclonal antibodies. These antibody-mediated drugs also target beta amyloid and inhibit cell function. Both donanumab and lecanumab carry a high risk of side effects, including amyloid-associated imaging abnormalities (ARIA) such as swelling or bleeding in the brain. Tragically, three patients in the donanumab trials lost their lives due to these side effects.

7 Taliban regime in Afghanistan appoints cleric Abdul Kabir as caretaker prime minister

9 Union Government approves Project Collaboration Agreement between Department of Health Research and World Health Organization
The Union Government has approved the Project Collaboration Agreement between the Department of Health Research and the World Health Organization on Assistive Technology . The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi . The collaboration aims to work towards drawing global attention towards access to assistive technology, promoting research and innovation, and developing appropriate training programmes. During the meeting, signing of MoU between Competition Commission of India and Competition Authority of Egypt was also approved. The MoU envisages exchange of information, promotion of cooperation in competition law and policy. Union Cabinet It also approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India-ICAI and the Chartered Accountants of Maldives . It aims to establish mutual cooperation between the two countries for the advancement of accountancy knowledge, professional and intellectual development, furthering the interests of their respective members and contributing positively to the development of the accountancy profession in Maldives and India.
10. Cabinet approves signing of MoU between Competition Commission of India and Competition Authority of Egypt
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and the Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) . The MoU focuses on promoting and strengthening cooperation in competition law and policy through exchange of information, sharing of best practices as well as through various capacity building initiatives. Its objective is to develop and strengthen the relationship between the CCI and the ECA. In addition, the two countries seek to learn from and emulate each other’s experiences in competition law enforcement in the respective jurisdictions through sharing of experiences and technical cooperation.

12 Government approves Phase II of Production Incentive Scheme for IT Hardware

13 Center announces subsidy of over Rs 1 lakh crore for fertilizers in Kharif season to 13 farmers
The government has approved one lakh, eight thousand crore rupees as fertilizer subsidy for the Kharif season this year. After the cabinet meeting, the Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that there will be no increase in the price of fertilizers. He said that the farmers would continue to get nutrition based fertilizers at the existing price. Dr. Mandaviya said that Rs.70 thousand crore has been earmarked for Urea and Rs.38 thousand crore for DAP as fertilizer subsidy. He said that the farmers of the country are being provided fertilizers at a lower price as compared to foreign countries.

16 ISRO to launch 16 NVS-01 satellites
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is going to launch NVS-01 satellite , which is a significant step towards strengthening India’s navigation capabilities. Navigation Satellite-01 , or NVS-01, is an advanced satellite that will be launched on May 29. It is designed to replace the IRNSS-1G satellite launched in 2016 . With a mission life of 12 years, the NVS-01 satellite aims to augment the existing navigation infrastructure by incorporating advanced technologies and capabilities. The IRNSS space segment comprises a constellation of seven satellites. These satellites, namely IRNSS-1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F and 1G were launched between July 2013 and March 2016. NVS-01 satellite will replace IRNSS-1G.

19 ICC made major changes to playing conditions
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made some changes in the playing conditions of cricket matches . One major change is that ‘soft signals’ by on-field officials have been done away with . A soft signal, according to ICC rules, is the visual transmission of the original on-field decision of the last umpire of the bowler to the third umpire before the umpire review is initiated. The validity of catches taken a few inches above the ground was determined using this signal. It was often criticized by experts for creating more confusion and TV umpires had difficulty making decisions based on this signal. Another important change is that helmets are now mandatory in high-risk positions. This includes the batsmen facing the fast bowlers, the wicket-keeper near the stumps and the fielders closest to the batsman in front of the wicket. Additionally , a minor modification has been made to the free hit rule , which states that runs scored on free hits when the ball hits the stumps will not count. The changes will come into effect from June 1, 2023, with the Lord’s Test between England and Ireland being the first match to follow the new rules. The ICC made these changes after the Cricket Executive Committee approved the recommendations of the men’s and women’s cricket committees. The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body in the world of cricket. With 104 members represented, the ICC regulates and administers the game and works with its members to develop the game. Its headquarter is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
