3.Under the brightness of PM Modi’s plan, we will now get 5 kg cylinders:-

The Prime Minister, Ujjwala, started from Uttar Pradesh in 2016, made life easier for rural women. In this Lok Sabha election, the BJP-led NDA government got huge amounts of votes for the rural women and the party won by a big margin. It is being told that the soon-to-be-formed New Modi government will focus on the distribution and utilization of a small 5-kg gas cylinder.

Under this scheme, gas connections are given to families who have been living below the poverty line (BPL) with the support of Rs 1,600. The LPG connection is given on the name of the female member of the family. Official sources said that the new government will provide eight crore connections under the scheme in the first 100 days.So far 7 million 19 lakh connections have been given. That is, 81 million gas connections will be distributed within 100 days after May 30. Once this goal is completed, it is estimated that the use of 5 kg of small cylinders under the scheme is mandatory so that its availability can be ensured throughout the country and the LPG refills can be encouraged. The refill of the average LPG cylinder given under Ujjwal is three times a year, while the national average is seven refill in a year.An official of the public sector oil marketing company said that the cost of cylinders is a big factor as the refill does not get 100 percent subsidy. Under the scheme, it can change with the use of small cylinders. About 712 rupees have to be paid while buying 14.2 kg cylinder (within 12 refill domestic limit). Under the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, subsidy of 215 rupees is given to the female customer’s bank account.

In the case of 5 kg cylinder, the current cost of refill is around Rs 260, in which a subsidy of about 80 rupees will be deposited in the bank account. The study of petroleum ministry has shown that LPG cylinders are being used by BPL families due to high cost of filling 14.2 kg cylinders. In case of a 5 kg cylinder, the cost of refilling it may be one-third of the cost of regular cylinders. This will help families to increase the usage of gas connections under Ujjwal.
