1. Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill 2025 passed by Lok Sabha

On March 30  ,  the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (IBC)  was passed by the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced it in the Lok Sabha. This bill will now give  the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT)  14 days to consider applications after  a company’s  default (bankruptcy) is established . Previously, these applications remained pending for long periods, with no action taken. The amendments to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code aim to eliminate delays in the bankruptcy process. According to the Ministry, the bill  aims to reduce bank debt, or non-performing assets (NPAs)  , and to rescue companies facing bankruptcy. According to the Ministry, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) has been a major factor in improving the state of the country’s banking sector, including the recovery of non-performing assets. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) Bill, 2025, contains a total of 12 amendments, including 11 submitted by the committee and one introduced by the government. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) was enacted in 2016. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Bill will now be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

2 Central government launches ‘Leaf’ to boost electric vehicle charging ecosystem

 

The central government  has  taken a major step to strengthen the electric vehicle (EV)  charging  ecosystem  . Heavy Industries Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday launched the Light Electric Vehicle Acceleration Forum (LEAF) , an industry- led forum. The forum is designed to provide a non-partisan platform for all stakeholders in the light electric vehicle (LEV) sector, including vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), charging infrastructure operators, component manufacturers, and technology providers. The forum will collaborate with the government, regulatory bodies, and industry organizations to  promote the development of EV charging infrastructure  and accelerate the adoption of electric two- and three-wheelers in the country. The initiative aims to create interoperability among charging networks, improve system reliability, and provide a consistent user experience, as well as expand public charging facilities.

3 Green card system implemented for commercial vehicles for Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand

To ensure the smooth and safe conduct of   the Char Dham Yatra   in  Uttarakhand , a ” Green Card System ” has been introduced   for commercial passenger vehicles . Transport Minister Pradeep Batra  inaugurated  the system in Roshnabad, Haridwar district . The Green Card system will ensure the technical fitness and safety  of commercial vehicles participating in the Yatra   . It will not only certify the vehicle’s fitness but also provide all necessary information related to the vehicle immediately in case of an emergency. According to the Transport Department, vehicle owners can apply online through the department’s official website and pay the prescribed fee. Following this, the Green Card will be issued after a technical inspection of the vehicle at the nearest transport office.

4 Japan develops world’s first dual-band infrared sensor

Fujitsu  of Japan  announced the development of  a world-leading, high-sensitivity, and high-resolution infrared sensor to enhance  monitoring capabilities   in  the defense and disaster prevention fields . The sensor is  a Type-II superlattice (T2SL) infrared sensor  with over 1 million pixels  ,  capable of detecting both mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) light  . Its  high sensitivity allows it to clearly capture small thermal differences of 0.05°C or less  , enabling high-precision monitoring day and night. This over-1-megapixel dual-band T2SL infrared sensor is the first of its kind in the world. The technology was developed under contract from the Acquisition Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) of the Japanese Ministry of Defense as part of the “Prototype of Wide Band and High Responsivity Photo-Detector,” to which Fujitsu has completed delivery of the prototype sensor.

5 Fourth anti-submarine warfare vessel Agre, built by GRSE, Kolkata, inducted into the Navy

The fourth  of  eight anti-submarine warfare (ASW) warships (SWCs)  indigenously designed and built by  Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE),  Kolkata  , was commissioned to the Indian Navy on March 30, 2026, in Kolkata  . The design and construction of these ASW SWCs by GRSE, Kolkata,  in accordance with the classification rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS)  , underscores the success of indigenous defense shipbuilding. At approximately  77 meters long,  these ships are the largest water-jet-powered warships of the Indian Navy and are equipped with state-of-the-art  lightweight torpedoes, indigenous rocket launchers, and shallow-water sonar  , enabling them to effectively detect and engage underwater threats. The induction of these ships will further enhance the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine and anti-mine capabilities, as well as coastal surveillance.

6 Ayurveda research to be available in 13 languages, CCRAS signs agreement with ‘Anuvadini AI’

 The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS),  under the Ministry of AYUSH,  has  taken a major step to make evidence-based scientific knowledge   related to  Ayurveda more accessible across the country. The Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with   Anuwadani AI  , under which Ayurveda research will be made available in 13 languages . This initiative will be implemented through Anuwadani AI, developed by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It aims to make evidence-based Ayurvedic knowledge accessible to the general public across linguistic boundaries. Under this agreement, CCRAS’s research results and educational material will be translated into 13 regional languages, including Hindi.

7 Paralympic medalist Sheetal Devi won the ‘Para Archer of the Year’ title

India’s Sheetal Devi  has  been named the 2025 Para Archer of the Year  by  World Archery  . 19-year-old Sheetal Devi from Jammu and Kashmir  became the first and only non-armed archer  to win  a gold medal in the women’s compound individual event at the World Para Archery Championships  held in  Guangzhou, South Korea, last year  . She  also won a silver medal in the women’s team event and a bronze medal in the mixed  team event at the World Championships. Sheetal has also won a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the Paris Paralympics, and silver medals at the Asian Para Games 2022 and Asian Championships 2023. The World Archery Awards, instituted in 2011 , recognize excellence and contributions to the sport at the international level.  Turkey’s Emirkan Hanyi  was named  the “Archer of the Year” in the men’s category . France’s Baptiste Edis won the “Young Archer of the Year”  award   , and Korea’s recurve men’s team  won  the “Team of the Year” award .

8 Aryna Sabalenka wins Miami Open

On March 29th,  world No. 1 tennis player Aryna Sabalenka  won  the Miami Open  . Sabalenka  defeated American Coco Gauff  in the final . Sabalenka  completed the Sunshine Double by winning the Indian Wells and Miami Opens in the same season . Sabalenka is the fifth female player  to achieve this feat   . This is Sabalenka’s  third title of the year   , earning her a prize money of ₹110 million (US$1.1 billion). Sabalenka achieved the world No. 1 ranking at the end of 2025 and will retain it in 2026.  Taylor  Townsend  of the United States and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic won the Miami Open women’s doubles  title. The Taylor-Katerina pair defeated Italy’s Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini 7-6 (0), 6-1 in the final. With this victory, Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova became the first pair since 2019 to complete the Sunshine Double.

9 Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner wins Miami Open title

Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner  has   won  the Miami Open title. He defeated Jiri Lehecka of the Czech Republic  6-4, 6-4 in the final. With this victory, Sinner also completed the ” Sunshine Double .” By defeating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the final, Jannik Sinner became the first male player since Roger Federer in 2017 to win Indian Wells and Miami in the same season. Furthermore, Sinner is the first player to achieve this feat without losing a set in both events. The 24-year-old won Indian Wells for the first time in his career, becoming the eighth male player to win the “Sunshine Double.” Novak Djokovic and Federer have achieved this feat on multiple occasions.

10 Kimi Antonelli becomes the youngest Formula 1 champion

Italy’s Formula No. 1 driver Kimi Antonelli  won  the Japan Grand Prix  . Prior to this, Antonelli   also won  the China Grand Prix . At 19,  Antonelli  became the youngest Formula One champion  . Antonelli won multiple F4 titles in 2022. In 2023, Antonelli won the Formula Regional European Championship. Antonelli also became the first Italian to win back-to-back races in Formula One since Alberto Ascari in 1953.
