  • To make him a Barrister, his father enrolled him in Brighton, England in the year 1878. However, having no interests in pursuing this degree, he returned back to India and became a famous poet and writer.
  • Tagore translated his own work in English Language and also composed nearly 2,230 songs.
  • Tagore at the age of 60 years took up painting and drawing. He held many exhibitions of his work across Europe. His paintings had color schemes that reflected off-beat aesthetics.
  • He renounced the title of “Sir” endowed upon him by the British Government to show his protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
  • Tagore started an experimental school at Shantiniketanand he is the founder of ‘Visva Bharati University’.
