Q1. What do you know about our company?
Tip: Information is easily available on the Internet these days. Spend some time reading about the company including things like its history, owners, what the company deals in, the industry it serves, awards won, locations it operates from, work culture, etc. When you know everything that you need to know about the company, you will answer with a lot of conviction. Plus, it shows that you are genuinely interested in working with the company.
Q2. What’s the one thing you like or dislike about our company?
Tip: Talking about the positives is easy once you have researched well about a company. However, when asked about the negatives, refrain from using strong words or saying too much. If the company was in the news for negative reasons, talk about it briefly, but keep a neutral ground stating you only know one side of the story which is not enough for forming an opinion.
Q3. What expectations do you have from your first job?
Tip: Do not mistake this question as the interviewer’s invitation to talk about your salary expectations. The interviewer wants to know about the vision that you have for yourself. You can never go wrong with answers such as ‘to learn’ or ‘to grow as a professional’. However, you can also add generic things like paying off your education loan, contributing to the society, etc.
Q4. Why do you want to work for our company?
Tip: It is best to say that you believe the company has a great scope for growth and you will learn immensely by associating with them.
Q5. Do you have a referral in our company?
Tip: This interview question is asked to check if you are aware of the company culture. If your answer is yes, the employer will be assured that you are motivated enough to join the company and might even stick for long. However, if you don’t know anybody working with the company, don’t give fake names or else your lie might get caught in case the company decides to verify the same.
