Now GE Aerospace has announced the delivery of the first of 99 F-404 engines to HAL on March 25. GE Aerospace’s F-404 engine was selected for the single-engine Tejas in 2004 after a 40-year relationship with HAL and collaboration with the Aeronautical Development Agency in the 1980s, enhancing the country’s defense manufacturing capabilities. This engine is specially designed for India’s single-engine fighter aircraft. The GE Aerospace and Tejas teams worked together for several years to adapt it to the needs of the Indian Air Force.
