1 Justice Surya Kant launches AI chatbot ‘Su Sahay’
On May 11 , Chief Justice Surya Kant launched the ” One Case, One Data ” system and the AI chatbot “Su Sahay” as part of judicial digitization . The “One Case, One Data” system will integrate case records at all levels— the Supreme Court, High Courts, District, and Taluk courts — into a unified database . This will be the first time data from the Supreme Court to the Taluk courts will be interconnected. This will allow Supreme Court judges to view complete case information from lower courts in real time, and lower courts will also have access to data from higher courts. This system will automatically retrieve and verify case-related information. The High Court will also have access to the data, improving case tracking and coordination between courts. This initiative has been launched to strengthen the court’s case management system. “Su Sahay” is an AI chatbot developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in collaboration with the Supreme Court Registry. It will be available on the Supreme Court website and provide case-related information to litigants and stakeholders. It will also help in easily understanding the court services so that access to justice becomes easier.
2 ICMR hands over three indigenous medical technologies to industry on National Technology Day
On the occasion of National Technology Day 2026 , the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) transferred three indigenous medical technologies to industry partners . The event took place during the ” Sci-Tech ” event held at the BRIC-National Institute of Immunology (NII) in New Delhi . The event was coordinated by the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), with participation from 14 scientific ministries and departments. ICMR showcased six important indigenous technologies related to the biopharmaceutical, health, and bio-industrial sectors at the event. These included Covaxin, the COVID Kavach ELISA kit, a CRISPR-Cas-based TB detection system, the Nipah point-of-care assay, the dengue detection ELISA kit, and a biolarvicide for mosquito control. Transfer of three technologies to industry :
ICMR licensed three technologies to industry partners under its Medical Innovation Patent Mitra initiative . The first was a cost-effective PSP-94 ELISA to aid prostate biopsy decisions , developed by a scientific team at ICMR-NIRWOH . It was licensed to Krishgen Labs Pvt. Ltd. The second was a point-of-care diagnostic for factor-8 inhibitors and coagulation disorders , developed at ICMR-NIRBID , and licensed to Meril Life Sciences . The third was a single-tube multiplex real-time RT-PCR for the detection of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses , developed at ICMR-National Institute of Virology , and licensed to Vanguard Life Sciences .
3. ‘Sehat Mission’ launched in the presence of J.P. Nadda and Shivraj Singh Chouhan
The ” Sehat Mission ” was launched in Delhi on Monday in the presence of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda and Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan . This mission is considered India’s new major initiative from agriculture to health under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Launched in partnership with ICAR and ICMR , this mission aims to advance the vision of healthy food, healthy farms, and a healthy India . “Sehat,” or Science Excellence for Health through Agricultural Transformation, is a joint national mission of ICAR and ICMR. Its objective is to integrate agriculture with improved nutrition, disease prevention, farmer welfare, and scientific policymaking . The mission will focus on improving nutritional quality, reducing micronutrient deficiencies, preventing non-communicable diseases, and developing sustainable food systems.
The Vikasit Bharat-Ji Ram Ji Act will be launched in rural areas across the country on July 1st . Under the provisions of the Act, workers will be provided work within a stipulated timeframe, based on their employment demands . In the absence of this, workers will be entitled to receive unemployment allowance . On May 11th , the Vikasit Bharat – Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G] Act, 2025 was notified, giving a new direction to rural development and employment. This Act will become effective in rural areas across the country from July 1st, 2026. With the implementation of the Vikasit Bharat-Ji Ram Ji Act, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA), 2005, will be deemed repealed from that date . Under the new system, every rural household whose adult members volunteer to perform unskilled manual labor will receive a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage- based employment per financial year. This Act places special emphasis on timely and transparent wage payments. Wages will continue to be paid directly into workers’ bank or post office accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Wages will be paid on a weekly basis or within fifteen days of the closing of the muster roll. If this is not the case, workers will be eligible for delay compensation as per the provisions of the Act. For the financial year 2026-27, the central government has made a budgetary allocation of ₹95,692.31 crore , the highest ever for the rural employment program at the budget estimate stage. The total outlay for this program, including the potential state share of the states, is estimated to exceed ₹1.51 lakh crore . This allocation will provide new impetus to rural infrastructure development, large-scale employment generation, and rural income growth. To encourage the participation of women workers, the Vikasit Bharat Ji Ram Ji Act makes an important provision for child care at workplaces. In the presence of five or more children below the age of five years, a female worker will be appointed to take care of them.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated an integrated carbon capture and utilization plant at the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Bombay . He also launched scientific drilling for geological carbon dioxide sequestration . This project will be presented at India Innovates 2026 in France next month . The occasion also marked the launch of India’s first complete carbon capture, utilization, and storage field laboratory pilot project at IIT Bombay. This indigenously developed carbon capture and utilization plant is integrated with geological carbon dioxide sequestration for deep storage in Deccan basalt formations . This initiative demonstrates a self-sustaining, closed-loop carbon mitigation approach using cost-effective aqueous carbon dioxide capture technology patented by IIT Bombay . It is capable of capturing emissions from ambient air and industrial sources using non-potable water. This process will produce a by-product called calcium carbonate from carbon dioxide. It can be used as a lime substitute in industries such as steel, paint, cement, and housing. He said that the project will be launched commercially in the coming days.
6 Economy projected to grow by 6.6 percent in 2026-27: SBI report
Despite global turmoil, the country’s economy remains resilient. According to a research report released by the State Bank of India, the economy is projected to grow by 6.6 percent in the financial year 2026-27 . The report estimates real GDP growth at around 7.2 percent in the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year . Despite global uncertainties, India has maintained a strong growth momentum. Indicators point to resilient economic activity. However, there was a slight slowdown in the fourth quarter. According to the report, bank credit growth by scheduled commercial banks increased to 16.1 percent compared to 11.0 percent a year ago. Total credit growth stood at ₹29.5 lakh crore.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav released two female cheetahs into the open forest of Kuno National Park in Sheopur district . These two cheetahs were among nine cheetahs brought to India from Botswana in February this year . They were released into the wild after successfully completing the quarantine and acclimatization process. The cheetahs brought from Botswana include six females and three males. Their arrival brings the total number of cheetahs in the country to 57. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Project Cheetah’ on September 17, 2022, by releasing eight cheetahs brought from Namibia into Kuno National Park. This was the world’s first intercontinental big cat relocation project. This was followed by the introduction of 12 more cheetahs from South Africa in 2023. Nine cheetahs also arrived in Kuno from Botswana in February of this year.
8 Dr. A.K. Panda takes over as Chairman and Managing Director of SAIL
Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on May 9, 2026. Prior to this, he served as Director (Finance) with the company, holding the additional charge of Director (Commercial) for approximately nine months. Dr. Panda began his career at SAIL in 1992 as a Management Trainee (Technical), after completing his BE in Electrical Engineering.
9 India beats China to win gold in Archery World Cup
The Indian women’s recurve team defeated host China 5-4 in a thrilling final of the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai to win the gold medal. The recurve team comprised Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat, and Kumkum Mohod . Earlier, India had defeated ten-time Olympic champion South Korea in the semifinals.
The Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026 is starting in Gandhinagar, Gujarat . The championship will conclude on May 17. This competition is being held in India after 44 years . Around 180 athletes from 28 countries will participate in it. India, China, and Sri Lanka are participating with 16 lifters each, while Chinese Taipei has 15 participants. The Indian team will be led by experienced weightlifters like Bindyarani Devi and Ajit Narayan . Mirabai Chanu will not participate in this championship due to injury.

12 International Nurses Day
International Nurses Day is celebrated worldwide every year on May 12th . This day holds special significance as the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing . On May 10, Telugu actor Bharat Kanth died in a road accident in Hyderabad . He was 31 years old. Cinematographer G. Sai Trilok also died in the accident. Bharat Kanth worked on the 2021 film Gramam and the 2024 film Tenant . Bharath also acted in the web series Geethanjali and Parvathi Parameswarulu . In addition to creating digital content, Bharath also worked in Telugu films and short films.
