1.Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi unveils ‘Sprint Challenges’ to promote use of indigenous technology in the Indian Navy
The Prime Minister , Shri Narendra Modi , unveiled the ‘ Sprint Challenges’ aimed at promoting the use of indigenous technology in the Indian Navy during Swavalamban , a seminar organized by the Naval Innovation and Indigenization Organization (NIIO) , in New Delhi on July 18, 2022 . NIIO in collaboration with Defense Innovation Organization (DIO) aims to achieve ‘Self- reliance ‘ in Defense Sector and under ‘ Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘, Indian NavyTo include at least 75 new indigenous technologies/products in the The name of this collaborative project is Sprint {Supporting Pole Vaulting in R&D through Innovation for Defense Excellence (I-DEX), NIIO and Technology Development Acceleration Cell)}.
2.Kerala becomes the first state to have its own internet service
According to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan , Kerala is now the first and only state in the country to have its own internet service . The announcement was made after the Department of Telecommunications granted an Internet Service Provider (ISP) license for the IT infrastructure project of Kerala Fiber Optic Network Limited (K-Fon) , which aims to provide internet access to all in the state. K-Fon or Kerala Fiber Optic Network Limited is a state government initiative aimed at bridging the digital gap. According to the government, the infrastructure created by this project is expected to complement the current telecom ecosystem of the state.
3.India made robotic surgery system installed at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute

4.Varanasi to become cultural-tourism capital of SCO
Varanasi will be declared the first cultural and tourism capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) . SCO General Secretary Zhang Ming gave this information. Under the new initiative, Varanasi will become the cultural and tourism capital of the SCO for the year 2022-23 . Under this, the member countries will get the opportunity in turn. This initiative is to promote people-to-people contact and tourism in the eight member countries.
5.Census Data Workstation inaugurated at IIT Delhi
A new census workstation has been unveiled by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in the Economics Laboratory of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences . The Census Data Workstation was officially inaugurated by the Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi . According to Dr Joshi, the purpose of the new workstation is to make it easier for academics and researchers to access census microdata. Additionally, it will contribute to raising awareness about the huge amount of data collected during census activities.
6.Railway Board Chairman and CEO inaugurates the Iconic Week Celebrations of ‘Azadi Ki Trains and Stations’
Shri Vinay Kumar Tripathi , Chairman and CEO, Railway Board inaugurated the iconic week celebrations of ‘ Azadi Ki Train and Station ‘ at Rail Bhawan . Highlighting the special importance of 75 identified stations/27 trains in the freedom struggle , Indian Railways from 18th July to 23rd Julywill organize week long celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tripathi said that as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a Azadi train and station program has been organized. The program has been organized under Jan Bhagidari and Jan Andolan. He said that the values and pride of the freedom struggle of the past and the aspirations of future young India will be shown in it. 75 railway stations and 27 trains have been identified. During this, street plays, light and sound shows, patriotic songs and video films in regional languages will be screened at these 75 stations in 24 states.

8.Government formulated a national action plan for cleaning sewers and septic tanks
Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishor has said that the government has prepared a National Action Plan for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem-Namaste Scheme for cleaning sewers and septic tanks . Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, Shri Kaushal Kishor said that this scheme is a joint venture of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Its aim is to prevent deaths during cleaning work in the country. He said that under this scheme no sanitation worker would come in direct contact with human excreta and alternative livelihood would be available to all sewer and septic tank cleaning workers.

11.Indian GM Arvind Chidambaram won the tournament in Spain

13.Tamil Nadu Day
The foundation day of Tamil Nadu was celebrated on 18th July . On this day in 1967 , a resolution was passed by the then Madras Presidency and it was renamed as Tamil Nadu. The proposal was introduced by the then Chief Minister CN Annadurai . On 1 November 1956 , Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala were carved out of the Madras Presidency and given statehood. The remaining area of the Madras Presidency was carved out as a separate state on 18 July 1967 by the name of Tamil Nadu. Speaking on the occasion, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the state government will honor such people and scholars who have contributed in enriching the Tamil language.

Nelson Mandela is considered a global symbol of courage, compassion, freedom, peace and commitment to social justice. He was the President of South Africa from May 10, 1994 to June 14, 1999 and was the first black President of Africa. In the year 2014, the United Nations General Assembly instituted the Nelson Mandela Award to recognize the achievements of those who dedicated their lives to the service of humanity.
15.world international justice day 2022
World Day for International Justice is celebrated on 17 July to recognize organizations working to bring justice to victims of international criminal acts . It also commemorates the establishment of modern court systems in the world. The day focuses on the advocacy of fundamental human rights and the promotion of international criminal justice. On July 17, 1998, 120 countries came together to sign a treaty called the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. The establishment became known as the International Criminal Court (ICC), which came into force on 1 July 2002. World International Day of Justice has been celebrated every year since then, to celebrate the signing of the Rome Statute.
16.Former Punjab speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon passes away
Former Punjab Legislative Speaker and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, Nirmal Singh Kahlon has passed away at the age of 79. He was Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats from 1997 to 2002 and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2012. Kahlon was elected MLA from Fatehgarh Churian in 1997 and 2007. Kahlon was the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayats in the Akali government from 1997 to 2002. He was also the Speaker of the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 2007 to 2012. He lost the 2012 and 2017 assembly elections to Congress’s Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa. In this year’s assembly elections, the Akali Dal had given ticket to Lakhbir Singh Lodhiangal from Fatehgarh Churian and Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon, son of Kahlon from Dera Baba Nanak, but both lost.
