1 Lithuanian film ‘Toxic’ wins Golden Peacock at IFFI 2024

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI ) concluded with a spectacular display of cinematic talent, with filmmakers, actors and film professionals gathering to celebrate the art of storytelling.  Lithuanian  film  Toxic bagged the prestigious Golden Peacock Award  for Best Film   , while Romanian director  Bogdan Mureşanu  bagged   the Silver Peacock Award  for Best Director for  The New Year That Never Came .

2 Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Maha Kumbh-2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  will start  Maha Kumbh-2025  by worshipping Ganga on December 13.  This will be the first time that the Prime Minister will start the Maha Kumbh event. Earlier, usually the DM or the fair officer used to start the Magh Mela  or  Kumbh by worshipping Ganga  . Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first program in the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj  will be at Shringverpur Dham  . Here he will inaugurate the Nishadraj Park as well as the statue of Lord Ram and Nishadraj. A meeting will be held at Sangam, in which Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate about 150 development projects costing more than Rs 6,500 crore.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha  leader  Hemant Soren took oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand  for the fourth time   . Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Soren at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi. Many leaders of the India Alliance including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar were present on the occasion.

4 Renowned Australian director Phillip Noyce honoured with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for pioneering cinematic legacy

Renowned  Australian director Phillip Noyce  was today  honoured with the prestigious Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for excellence in cinema at the grand closing ceremony of  the 54th International Film Festival of India  (IFFI) in Goa  . Noyce’s filmography includes iconic films such as Patriot Games , Clear and Present Danger, Salt, The Saint, The Bone Collector and many others. His collaborations with renowned actors such as Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington and Michael Caine underline his lasting impact on cinema.

5 Navjyot Bandiwadekar won the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film award for his Marathi film ‘Gharat Ganpati’ at the 55th International Film Festival of India

Navjyot Bandiwadekar has won the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film award for   his  Marathi film ‘Gharat Ganpati ‘ at  the 55th  International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024.  The award signifies the impact of Bandiwadekar’s directorial debut, and positions him as a unique individual with new and exciting ideas in the film industry. National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has instituted the Best Debut Director of Indian Feature Film award for this edition of IFFI with the aim to recognise young filmmaking talents across the country and recognize their contribution to the development of Indian cinema.

6 Swedish filmmaker Levan Akin’s ‘Crossing’ wins the prestigious ICFT – UNESCO Gandhi Medal at the 55th International Film Festival of India

Swedish filmmaker Levan Akin  ‘s  Crossing has won the prestigious ICFT – UNESCO Gandhi Medal  at   the 55th  International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa  . The award recognises a film that reflects the values ​​of peace, non-violence and promotion of human rights, and the film Crossing was chosen for speaking strongly on these issues. The winner is given the UNESCO Gandhi Medal and a certificate.

7 Indian Navy successfully tested K-4 ballistic missile

The Indian Navy  successfully tested  the K-4 ballistic missile  on 27 November  . This testing  was done from  the nuclear submarine Arighat . Arighat was launched in 2017.  Its upgraded version will be commissioned soon. Arighat is an upgraded version of INS Arihant. It was built at the Indian Navy’s Ship Building Center (SBC) in Visakhapatnam. Compared to Arihant, Arighat will be equipped with K-4 missiles with a range of 3500 kilometers. The weight of this submarine is 6 thousand tons (60 thousand quintals). The Indian Navy has so far built 3 nuclear submarines. Of these, one Arihant is commissioned, the second Arighat is about to be received and testing is going on on the third. In 2009, for the first time, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s wife symbolically commissioned  INS Arihant on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.  launched on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. After this, it was included in the Navy fleet in 2016. In the next 5 years, two more submarines have been launched by the Indian Navy.

8 ‘International Gita Festival 2024’ launched in Haryana to promote the teachings of Bhagavad Gita

The International Gita Mahotsav   is being organised from November 28 to December 15 in  Kurukshetra  , Haryana . The Shrimad Bhagavad Gita is the holy scripture of Hindus and the Gita Jayanti celebrations are dedicated to the birth of the Bhagavad Gita. The festival is mainly celebrated in Kurukshetra, Haryana. The location of the celebration adds to the sanctity of the event. Kurukshetra is the land where the divine song ‘ Bhagavad Gita ‘ is believed to have been narrated by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. The Bhagavad Gita contains the invaluable advice of Lord Krishna which he gave to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra on the first day of the 18-day war in the Mahabharata about 5152 years ago.  Organised by the Kurukshetra Development Board and Haryana Tourism  , the Gita Mahotsav aims to promote the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita. The Gita Mahotsav is celebrated on the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) of the Margashirsha month (November-December) according to the traditional Hindu lunar calendar. It is the Ekadashi day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month, and this year, the Gita Mahotsav will begin on November 28, 2024, and end on December 15, 2024, at Kurukshetra, Haryana, India.

9 Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi launched ‘Eklavya’ digital platform for training of officers

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi launched Eklavya, an online digital  platform   for training of officers,  in New Delhi  . The Defense Ministry has said in a statement that this platform will help in seamlessly integrating all the training centers of the Army. Trainee officers will be able to register themselves for multiple courses simultaneously through this platform. 96 courses from 17 Category ‘A’ training establishments of the Army are hosted on this platform.

10 Asian Development Bank’s Board of Governors unanimously elects Masato Kanda as its 11th President

The Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank  has unanimously  elected Masato Kanda  as its 11th President. Currently, Mr. Kanda  is serving as  a special adviser  to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister of   Japan . The Asian Development Bank said that Mr. Kanda will replace Masatsugu Asakawa in February  next year.

11 Railways launched Suraksha Mobile App for the safety of passengers

Indian Railways  took another step towards passenger safety. Railways   has launched  Suraksha Mobile Application across the country. The app aims to improve railway safety through capacity building of frontline security category  employees of Indian Railways. The application has been designed by Dilip Singh, a 2013 batch IRTS officer. He is currently working as Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Nagpur, South East Central Railway. The app integrates domain knowledge of Indian Railways with the potential benefits of information technology, data analytics and AI in future, to provide an intelligent, effective and scalable system to meet the training and capacity building needs of railway employees. It features smart learning and feedback mechanisms, which enable multi-level, real-time feedback and monitoring.

12 Ladakh: Para athlete Rinchen Yudol of Bodhkharbu created history by winning bronze medal in World Para Poomse Taekwondo Championship

 Para athlete Rinchen Yudol  from  Bodhkharboo, Kargil  , Union Territory of Ladakh  has created history by winning a bronze medal  in   the first  World Para Poomse Taekwondo Championship held in ManamaBahrain   . Playing in the senior women’s category of 140 athletes from 23 countries, Rinchen performed brilliantly. Her performance has made Ladakh and the country proud. She is the first athlete from Ladakh to achieve this feat in Taekwondo.

13 Urvil is the fastest Indian to score a century in T20

Gujarat team  opener and wicketkeeper  Urvil Patel   has become  the fastest Indian batsman to score a century  in  T20 format . He scored a century in just 28 balls against Tripura in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on 27 November  . Before Urvil, this record was in the name of Rishabh Pant, who scored a century in 32 balls against Himachal Pradesh in the same tournament in 2018. Apart from this, Urvil has become the second batsman in the world to score the fastest century in T20 cricket. Before him, Sahil Chauhan of Estonia had scored a century in 27 balls against Cyprus. West Indies’ Chris Gayle is at number three. He scored a century in 30 balls while playing for RCB against Pune Warriors in the IPL-2013 season. Urvil scored an unbeaten 113 runs in 35 balls. He hit 12 sixes and 7 fours in it.
