3.Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman inaugurates National Customs and Goods and Services Tax Museum ‘Dharohar’ in Goa

4.In Tamil Nadu, Stalin constitutes a 4-member committee for an ordinance banning online rummy games

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has constituted a four-member committee to assist the state government in formulating an ordinance banning online rummy games . Retired Judge of Madras High Court Chandru Committeewill be the chairman. Tamil Nadu had banned online games in November 2020, but the Madras High Court in August 2021 found it not appropriate and quashed it. Neighboring states had made similar laws, but they were also struck down by the court. Many people recently lost lakhs of rupees by playing online rummy and got addicted to this game. An estimated 22 people lost their lives due to online rummy addiction after the ban was lifted from the judiciary. There was a lot of panic among the political parties about this matter and they demanded a ban on it. This ordinance will be legally framed in such a way that the judiciary cannot find any deficiency in it. That is why the State Government has constituted Justice Chandru Committee.

5.Indian diplomat Amandeep Singh Gill appointed technology representative to UN Secretary General

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed senior Indian diplomat Amandeep Singh Gill as his technology envoy . He will coordinate programs in international digital cooperation. The announcement was made by Mr. Guterres’ spokesman Stephen Dujarric. He said that Mr. Gill is very thoughtful about digital technology and has a solid knowledge of how to take advantage of digital technology. Amandeep Singh Gill was India’s Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva from 2016 to 2018. He is currently CEO of the International Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence Research Project at the Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies in Geneva.

6.’Little Pari’ program launched by North-West Delhi District Administration

Recently ‘ Nanhi Pari ‘ ( Nanhi Pari ) by the North-West Delhi District Administration) program was started. The ‘Little Pari’ program is a scheme to provide a one stop solution to the parents by eliminating the need of going to different offices to get the documents. The objective of this program is to fulfill essential services like providing birth certificate, Aadhar card registration and account opening in case of girls born in government hospitals of the district before discharge of mother and child from the hospital. Its other objectives include Sukanya Samriddhi Account Scheme for girls and mothers, For schemes like Ladli Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, registration in the hospital itself is also included. The basic objective of most of these schemes is to protect the life of the girl child and to provide a safe environment and education facilities for them. Apart from ensuring that the schemes reach the target beneficiaries and protect the interests of the girl child, the program also aims to promote institutional delivery.

7.Uttar Pradesh Defense Industrial Corridor

Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has recently signed MoU with some banks to promote investment in the UP Defense Industrial Corridor . Those banks include State Bank of India (SBI) , Punjab National Bank (PNB) , Bank of Baroda (BoB) , and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI)., As per this MoU, these banks will provide financial assistance to investors as a part of ease of doing business. Banks will provide customized financial assistance to the investors on case to case basis. UPEIDA has signed an MoU with IIT Kanpur Research and Technology Park Foundation to address the growing opportunities and R&D needs for collaboration of IIT Kanpur with the domestic aerospace and defense ecosystem. UP DIC is an ambitious project that seeks to reduce the foreign dependence of the Indian aerospace and defense sector. The project was launched on 11, August 2018 with the announcement of an investment of Rs 3700 crore in defense production. Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is the nodal agency for implementing this project in collaboration with various other state agencies. There are 6 nodes planned for this project: Lucknow, Jhansi, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Agra and Aligarh. The project was started with an aim to make Uttar Pradesh one of the largest and advanced defense manufacturing hubs and put it on the global map.
