1 Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan will be the NDA candidate for the upcoming Vice Presidential election

Maharashtra  Governor  CP Radhakrishnan will be the National Democratic Alliance-NDA candidate  in   the upcoming  Vice Presidential election  . Bharatiya Janata Party President and Union Minister  JP Nadda  made this announcement in a press conference after the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting at the party headquarters in New Delhi.  The election  will be held  on the 9th of next month . This election has to be held due to Jagdeep Dhankhar  ‘s resignation from the post of Vice President. It is worth noting that CP Radhakrishnan is currently  the 24th Governor of Maharashtra  . He assumed this post on 31 July 2024. Earlier, he was the Governor of Jharkhand from February 2023 to July 2024. Between March and July 2024, he also held the additional charge of Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.

Union Minister  Piyush Goyal  inaugurated  the first fully women-run clean street food hub called “ Mouli ”   in Kandivani near  Mumbai   . Highlighting the uniqueness of this hub which is completely managed by women from Self Help Groups – SHGs, Shri Goyal informed that these women have received training under the Food Safety Training and Certification – FoSTaC programme and are now able to run clean and safe businesses.

3 Shubhanshu Shukla gets a grand welcome on his return to India

 

 

Indian Air Force  Group  Captain Shubhanshu Shukla  received a warm welcome at Delhi’s  Indira Gandhi International Airport  early Sunday . After his arrival,  there will be a special discussion in the Lok Sabha on India’s space journey and Shukla’s historic mission  . The topic of the debate in the Lok Sabha is – ” India’s first astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS) – Role of space program for developed India 2047. ” In June,  Shukla   became  the second Indian to go to space  under  the ISS  ‘s  Axiom-4 mission . It  was launched from  Florida’s Kennedy Space Center on June 25. During the mission, Shubhanshu conducted unprecedented micro-gravity experiments  in space . He  returned to Earth on July 16. This mission symbolized the return of not only India but also Poland and Hungary to the human space program after four decades. Shukla represented  ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization)  and his experience  is an important step towards the future  Gaganyaan mission and India’s own space station. Shubhanshu  is  one of the astronauts selected for India’s first spacecraft mission Gaganyaan . It is likely to be launched by the end of next year.

4 Russia ready to launch Venera-D mission to Venus before 2036

Russia   is set to launch  a Venera-D mission to revisit Venus before 2036.  According to  Oleg Korablev   of  the Space Research Institute – IKI , preliminary design work will begin in January 2026 under the country’s new National Space Program. The mission will consist  of a lander, a balloon probe and an orbital spacecraft  , with launch expected  between 2034 and 2036. The design, in collaboration with the Lavochkin Association,  will take two years to complete. The exact launch date will be decided after the design is complete.

 

5 Devika Sihag wins first International Challenge title in Malaysia

Indian shuttler Devika Sihag  won  her first International Challenge title by winning the women’s singles event   at  the Malaysia International Challenge 2025  in  Ipoh . The 20-year-old Devika defeated fifth seeded  compatriot Isharani Barua 15-7, 15-12 in the final . The tournament is being played under BWF’s experimental 3×15 scoring format, where games are played to 15 points instead of the usual 21 points. The win adds to Sihag’s successful 2024 season, where she also won titles at the Swedish Open and Portugal International at the International Series level. The Malaysia International Challenge is a Grade 3, Level 1 event in BWF’s Continental Circuit. Sihag’s recent success comes after her victory at the Senior National Badminton Championships in Bengaluru last year.

 

6 Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the logo, mascot and trophy of the 12th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey

 

Bihar  Chief Minister  Nitish Kumar  unveiled  the  logo, mascot and trophy  of  the 12th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Championship   at  the Chief Minister’s Secretariat  in  Patna . Bihar is hosting the tournament for the first time  and it  will be held at the Rajgir International Stadium in Rajgir from 29th to 7th September this month  . The Chief Minister also flagged off the Trophy Pride Journey during which the Asia Cup Hockey torch will pass through each district of the state. The mascot of Asia Cup Hockey, named ‘ Chand ‘,  is inspired by the national animal tiger  . It symbolizes the courage, agility and skill of India’s national animal. The name ‘Chand’ was given  to hockey legend Major Dhyanchand.  , who created history in the sport by practicing on moonlit nights. The mascot is also inspired by the majestic tiger of Bihar’s Valmiki Tiger Reserve, which symbolizes strength, agility and confidence.

7 World Human Robot Games in Beijing saw participation of more than 500 human robots from 16 countries including Japan

 

 

More than 500 human robots from 16 countries including Japan participated  in  the World Human Robot Games held in  Beijing   ,  China . The four-day event has been completed and human robots took part in various competitions. These included 26 events including football, dance and kick boxing. A robot completed the 100 meter sprint in 21.5 seconds.

8 India’s Ankita Dhyani wins gold medal at Grand Slam Jerusalem Athletics Meet in Israel

India’s  Ankita Dhyani  has  won  the gold medal  at  the Grand Slam Jerusalem Athletics Meet  in   Israel . She also broke  the national record  in the women’s 2000m steeplechase event  . 23-year-old Ankita broke  Parul Chaudhary  ‘s previous record of 6  minutes 14 point three-eight seconds  with a timing of  6 minutes 13 point nine-two seconds.  . This victory has increased Ankita’s chances of qualifying for the 3000m steeplechase through the world ranking quota for the World Championships to be held in Tokyo next month.
